My DD didn't gain any weight between her 1 and 2 month appointments (perhaps a couple of ounces at most).  She grew 2.5 inches in length though.  How common is this? Doc isn't worried, and DD seems fine, nurses well, I know I don't have a supply issue, plenty of wet and poopy dipes, etc.  I do think it's kind of strange though.  I know siblings aren't necessarily comparable, but DS grew like a weed and gained at a rate that made his pedi at the time refer to me as the "dairy queen" eyesroll.gif

She only lost 4 ounces at birth and gained at about a pound per week for the first month (also grew 2.5 inches) and then just seemed to have stopped.  Weird or no?

Maybe a little unusual but it seems to be her pattern. She gains in fits and starts. I have steady gainers: an oz a day in the early days. So they gain slower than your DD but steadily. I'd simply look at whether she doubles birthweight by 3-4 months or so (I think up to 6 months is ok). I've read of many babies gaining weight and length separately. I think yours follows a similar pattern. With the big length growth and plenty of diapers and an otherwise happy, on track baby I wouldn't worry.

My dd did that too. She still does. She is 18 mo and grew 2 shoe sizes in a week without gaining any weight and she eats like a linebacker. All kids are different and as long as baby is healthy, it's all good.
