Ooh, congrats! I just love all the names of the new babies!
The blister is normal. Zeki has one too (he's on about his 3rd... he gets one, and eventually it sloughs off).
There are gentle ab exercises you can do, but I'd be careful with anything too intense. My abs separated with ds1, and I assume also with this one, and I just stick with the head lifts and the leg slides for at least 6 wks. (And I hear you about the ab workouts... I got a teasing e-mail from a friend asking how my 6-pack is doing... well, let's just say it's on hiatus.)
I like hearing from the others who are on #2... ds has been sleeping in various places with dh, and I have been sleeping with ds2 on the futon (it seems to be easier on my back than our firm mattress, though I'm hoping to sleep in our bed tonight... it's our anniversary!). I'm a little freaked out about the prospect of going to the store, library, etc. with my high-energy almost 3 yr old and a newborn (better hope that sling is on snugly!
). But so far, knock on wood, ds1 seems genuinely enamored with ds2, though he's also more needy than usual (which is totally acceptable, considering...).
Sarah, I think a pound and a half weight gain over birthweight in one month is really *great*, especially considering what you've been through.
Pottermama, *don't* look for a scale! Postpone! And yeah, I can't believe you're working on the house! Insane!
Sherri, I have absolutely no sense of when a baby is "really" hungry. Both ds1 and this baby seem to be cluster feeders, so I just nurse totally on demand (though I try to wake him up during long naps, because I get full... maybe time to break out the pump). I was a little concerned about it the 1st time around (with ds1), but this time, I just have a sense that that's the way my boobs and kids work.
Aren't the baby acne spots coming in right on schedule, Sarah? I always just put a dot of breast milk on them... it seems to help a lot. If Lily is sweaty at night, I think prickly heat could really be aggravating things. Ack, I really hope it's not a dairy sensitivity. That's such a pain in the neck. FWIW, Zeki is one gigantic dry skin flake... he was "overdue", of course, so his hands and feet especially are really dry and flaky. And he can't escape his genes (dh is the same way). I'm pretty reluctant to try anything other than bm, though. I may throw in the towel and try a tiny bit of almond oil if it doesn't go away in the next couple of weeks.
