well its good to see that everyones still doing well. Kaydence is sound asleep so im typing fast before she realizes i'm not in bed with her and wakes up. she just recently figured out how to blow rasberries and managed to spit on everyone walking down the aisle at church on sunday. i swear everyday she moves around more and more. tonight she crawled over to me grabbed my fingers, and stood up! i was freakin out!! i'm not ready for her to "cruise" yet, but we'll see. as far as solids go, we still are waiting she still has her tongue reflex so i know she's not ready yet. besides bf is much easier and a lot less planning involved! *just a tip for the red butts: cornstarch. i just got that advice from my grandma and it worked wonders. we use cloth but every now and then a spot or two will show up red!! well i'm off to catch a few winks, but its so nice to hear from people on the same wavelength as i am!! my dh is in kuwait right now so i just wanted to say THANKS for all the support i've received from MDC!!

Hej from Sweden, everyone! Thought I would introduce myself.... My little munchkin, Alexander, will be 6 months next Friday. I can't believe only 6 months ago, he was all snuggled inside my belly!

Well, it sounds like he is right on track with the rest of you guys. He is not sitting up by himself yet, but he is so close! When I prop him up, he will stay sitting for a little while, but does not really seem that interested in it and will just flop over to the side and onto his belly. He's really into turning over onto his tummy. Which is so surprising! When he was younger he hated being on his tummy. He will still grump about it, but it takes him longer now to get to that point... He wiggles all over the place now. I can see that he would love to crawl, though. He will do his "push-ups" and will also pooch up his butt and try to get on his knees. His core just needs to strengthen up some more and he will be on all fours. Then watch out! lol....

Today, he's also found his scream. He's been just laying there and squealing/screaming. Then he will laugh. He's been babbling a few consonant sounds recently, too. Mainly "ba" and "da". He loves to babble at me! DH is up in Stockholm on a special job for three weeks (he comes home on Sunday... YAY!!!!! ). When we talk on the phone, I always have him talk to Alex. It is so cute! He will get really quiet and then he will start to "talk" to Daddy and smile. It is the sweetest thing!

And there is definitely a tooth popping out! Finally!! It seems like he has been teething forever. Its a bottom front tooth. I have felt the lump there for almost a week and now I can see the tooth just peeking out of the gum.

How have your guys been doing with sleep? Mine still takes three naps a day. About 40 minutes to 1 hour in the morning, 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the second nap, and then 30 minutes to 1 hour for his third. He has been consistently going to sleep at around 7ish (sometimes 8ish). He's been sleeping quite well at night, too. The only bad thing is that he has been waking up at 5:15 to 5:30 a.m.! He used to wake up at 7 or 8. Aaahhh... those were the days. Oh well, I'll just take one of his naps with him.

I started him on solids last week, as he is definitely ready. He did ok with the cereal, or gröt as they call it here, but he LOVES the bananas I started him on this week. Next week, we will introduce applesauce. I make all my own. I don't see why more people don't do that instead of buying it. Its so easy to do!!

So, its nice to meet all of you fellow July ladies with your crabs and lions. Its nice to compare notes with others who are going through the same things.... I look forward to reading more of your posts!

Happy half birthday to all our July babies!

The plane trip was a smashing success. Tabitha slept all the way there and part of the way home. On our final landing she didn't want to nurse or take her pacifier so I was really worried, but not a peep.

I'm intrigued by the sucking of apples. Tell me more! DH is teasing me about dragging my feet on the solid foods. We baked a sweet potato yesterday (Tabitha's six-month birthday) but I never got around to pumping milk to mix it up with. Oh well. The next couple of days are really busy so it may have to wait even longer. I'm in no hurry and not doing her any harm, right?

It's deep winter in Minnesota. Some days we just hole up at home. I definitely understand about wanting another "activity" to keep both of us entertained. Maybe we'll have to hop in the tub once she finishes eating and by then she'll be ready for the next nap!

We're on day 8 without a poop. I'm planning to do a glycerin suppository later. Do any of your babies have such infrequent poops? Hers are always nice and soft, no straining when they do come, so I try not to get too freaked out, but after a week, I just can't take it anymore. I imagine this will change once she starts on solid food.

My beautiful girl.

Take care mamas,
Caitlin

hi all, typing left handed only as someone sleeps on the right one, sorry for typos..

thank you so much for the well wishes and suggestions for selma's butt . to make a long story short, i have definitively decided that it is an allergic reaction to milk protein in my diet (common in my family). I had kind of tried eliminating before now but never 100%... she is obviously VERY sensitive so i am now completely casein free and am waiting for our bodies to clean out. her rash is already much better (after 2 weeks with no casein) and i expect the same trend to continue. good news is this: we figured it out and she feels much better and it's not the cds!!!!!

we haven't tried solids. i like to wait until she is lunging and obviously wanting food, mostly b/c of the tendancy to food allergies. i figure her body knows when it is ready and she will let me know.

jen mommy to dd1 (11y), dd2 (6y) and ds (3y)

Glad to hear Selma's bum is on the mend

Caitlin~funny, I did that exact same thing with a sweet potato Since we started solids Caiden's poos have become less frequent, tho never more than 3 days apart. I love the consistency of them now, they just roll off of his diaper. (Funny, I never would've thought I'd be writing about "loving" the consistency of poop)

Welcome Zootiegurl DS loves potatoes mixed with applesauce and it's so easy to bake and blend together

Next week my sweet babe is 7 months! That just seems so old It really does fly by.....

Thanks, buterflyma! The potatoes and apple sauce does sound like a great mix! Do you have any other good baby food combos/recipes?

I can't believe it! The little man is 6 months today! Deng that went fast.... Half a year already! *sigh* I was looking at his newborn pics... He was so tiny! We went to the doc yesterday for his check up and he is getting so big! 18 lbs! He's not chubby, tho. He's very long.... Can't remember the measurement now.... I think it was 72 cm which is a little over 28 inches.

Soon most of your little guys will be reaching the 7 month mark. Can you believe it??

Coming in late here...I haven't posted in months because my biz has been so busy there's little time for anything else.

Quinn will be 6 months tomorrow. He has 4 teeth and two more coming. He's about 22 lbs and a GIANT. He loves being carried in a sling and playing with toys. He's almost sitting up and he rolls all over the place.

The weird thing about him is that he's not a comfort nurser (my DD was). So essentially, I nurse him and we then has to be walked/slung to sleep. It's crazy! He actually cries/fusses himself to sleep most of the time (in arms or sling). I am just trying to go with the flow, but it's a major paradigm shift for me. DD always nursed to sleep easily. She didn't stay asleep though.

The BEST diaper rash cure in the world is Weleda calendula baby cream! I use it for everything! My kids are very rashy in cloth and this works better than anything else - my little miracle.

And Quinn just went about 2.5 weeks without a poop and then blasted me all day Friday. There's no reason to use a suppository unless they are constipated. And they aren't constipated with a breast milk only diet.

I gave Quinn a tiny bit of mashed banana yesterday and he was up all night. Coincidence?

Hey, Kristen!! I didn't know your son was so close in age to mine! What a coincidence!

This is Vickie from SlingSisters, btw....

So, yours is not quite sitting up either.... How is he doing with sounds? Mine loves to babble da da and ba ba, etc.

Well, the munchkin needs me! Great to see you here!

Hi Everyone

My little tweety is very busy these days. She's crawling all over the place eating things off the floor. I'm looking forward to summer when it isn't so damn cold. I have to really bundle her up all the time here where I live.

I've tried giving her some different things (apple, cucumber, sweet potato) and she always shudders, then gags and throws it up She sure seems like she's interested, but I think that's just that she wants to play with these new "toys" in front of her.

I don't think you've missed anything- it seems us July Mamas are the quietest on MDC. Perhaps are little ones are more "time-consuming"? :LOL

Hello July Ladies!

I looked away for a moment yesterday, and when I turned around Liam was holding the cat's water dish and licking it... : That was a first but i'm betting, not a last...

Liam's getting good at crawing *backwards* these days, he's getting pretty quick.. we've given up giving him any solids of any kind as he'll just hork them up. Saturday's his first plane trip... i'm so freaked out!!

What're all you guys (and babes) up to?
