I am not sure that they can have iron depletion at this age, I have always thought that when he starts crawling then I would start him on solids. Dr. Sears book on bf is really helpful in understanding what they need. There is that websit- www.kellysmom.com I Think thats it, maybe another mom knows for sure, anout what they need as well.
The Ped. told me to give Bryn yogurt to combat the side effects of this round of ear infections. He hated it and had this horrible face every time I put some in . About an hour later he spit it all back up :Puke . I haven't reintroduced it since. He did really like the mashed sweet potato though. He ate about 3-4 tablespoons of it the other day when I had some out for a pie and I didn't notice anything funny in his stool or constipation. You might just keep to the veggies. I remember when I started Aidan on solids. It took months and months just to introduce a food. I think I tried cereal once and then went to giving him what ever I was eating. I watched his diapers to make sure nothing bad happened. He would eat everything but orange, grape, pasta sauce, basically anything that didn't have acid in it, that produced horrible rash .

Hey, Bendmom has a name! the webpage is actually kellymom.com without an s, but yes, I agree, it is a super useful page. If Bryn doesn't like yogurt, perhaps you could pop open an acidophilus pill and put a little of the powder on his tongue a few times a day. He'll get a ton more cultures that way and is not very likely to spit it up. Our dr had us doing that with Tristan starting at about 2 months when he (well, we) had thrush.

Jill - if solids are making mealtime grumpy I'd say quit them absolutely!!! From what I've heard, the early mealtimes form a foundation for how meals go in the future, and if they're grouchy - heck, put them off! I don't think he's going to waste away!!

Well this was my big morning to myself and it has been! 5 hours off! (I need a nursling soon though...!) I went to the thrift store and in addition to 2 sun hats and some cute red plaid summer overalls for T and 3 cassettes for my car, I found an AWESOME cashmere sweater for $19! Woohoo!

well, joey and the little snoozer are home, so I'm off. xo, j

Well, hi there... BECCA. =O) And chiromum, welcome.

My babies are avoiding their nap with every bit of strength this afternoon... At least they're enjoying watching a Raffi concert from their bouncy seats while I can at last run around and clean up the kitchen and living room. I hope they'll fall asleep there and then I can even do some ME stuff like sew or crochet...

Hey, did I mention I'm going to become a co-leader of a local Real Diaper Association circle?? And I'm sharing a cloth diaper booth at our upcoming state LLL conference next month.

Rats, baby wailing...

Jen Jen Where Have You Been

Yes I have a name. It took me a while to get my Sig. down. I get tired of the same thing pretty quickly, but have decided on this one for now. I was reading another post and a mom mentioned it was weird when moms went incognito with their names and such. So, here I am.

I agree with feeding time becoming miserable. I read the same thing about diaper changing time. If you make faces and act grossed out when you take the diaper off, and babe sees that, they will become aware that diaper changing time is a bad thing. Although I think that mainly happens w/ ff diapers since they smell pretty bad from what I have heard.

I am going to try the supplements after we go to the doce to see if the infections are gone. I have been trying to change th cd as soon as he poops so he doesn't get the yeast rash. If they are not gone I am going to take him to a Chiropractor to get centered or what ever it si that they do. Chiromum, any suggestions?

Geez, there haven't been a million posts since I last checked

About the name is sig thing - I used to have my and the girls name in my siggy and then one day I googled my two girls names together and up popped all my (not that I have a lot) mothering posts. It kind of weirded me out...

But I think I'll be brave and put mine back on there - my girls have unusual names but I certainly do not!

R is definately inching forward now - I can't believe it! She's not allowed to be mobile yet :LOL She is just insane about food now, so we've started giving her bits here and there. She literally throws fits when she sees us eating. Seems like she's growing up faster than her sister did..

 DD1 (8yrs) + DD2 (6yrs) + DS1 (4/25/11) = one crazy adventure!

I checked mine user name out and some of my posts showed up. But when I put in my girls names so many pages of porn star sites came up that they would never be able to get to anything about my chloe and laRue

We went to Disneyland yesterday, it was SO much fun. It was so sunny though that I was scared LaRue would get a sunburn. She is much lighter than Chloe and my partner.

cute pics mamabear!!

It's a very unpleasant day at our house. T is teething. The tooth is coming through, we can see the top ridge of it. Last night was a wake-up call every 45-60 mins. I am sick with a cold. He's getting it too. Right now he's ready for a nap, won't eat any more, and pteradactyling at Jo while she's rocking him. He will not sleep in his co-sleeper; he prefers to sleep in the arms of whoever is rocking him (as we did last night for 1.5 hours), or we put him down in his car seat. We're that desperate. Ugh.

And we missed the open house at the house down the street from us; we will never get to satisfy our curiosity at why the house is selling for $350,000!!! When we toured it at the last open house it was wall to wall mint green shag carpeting. We're guessing the guy who bought it did a lot of work.

I tried to read the last 6 pages and get caught up before posting...... but gave up. Hey everyone!

Thank you very much for the concern and support during the babysitting from hell week. I am so glad I choose to drive back to E.C. cause EVERYONE got really sick and if I had stayed alone in Iowa it would have been really UGLY. By time I arrived in E.C. the 2 year old was totally feverish and pathetic, a day later the 4 year old was equally sick. Mielle got a little better which is awesome cause those 2 kids were very NEEDY! The 2 year old followed me around crying and saying "Snuggle babeeeeee..." it was sweet, but exhausting. They slept alot and cried alot... boy was I glad to get them home to their parents.
I never got a very good answer out of my sister about why she didn't contact me the first 2 days... Oh well, it was a learning experience. I felt like i really connected with the kids and that was cool. The 2 year old was calling me "mama" by time it was over.

Well tonight I am trying to go out to a movie... We are bringing Mielle with us in a sling, I'm hoping she will sleep. We are going to the budget theater, so if it doesn't work out well..... I haven't seen a movie since the end of last summer when we went to "HellBoy". I'm pretty excited to be going out.

Hope everyone is doing well, kisses to all those babies!

As a mother I want my child to get to the next stage-teething. On the other hand, I know it sucks because you end up with a feverish, upset baby for months at a time. I can't remember it that well with Aidan, and I think that my mind blanked out all the miserable times. I am always suspensfully waiting for them to come in, checking his gums daily. I guess it will happen when I am not looking.

Yesterday I went to garage sale with a bunch of summer boys clothing in size 18mo. and I came really close to buying it all. I just couldn't hold on to that much stuff for that long though. It makes sense to buy baby clothing in advance if it's cheap, but how far in advance? Everyone keeps asking if I'm saving Aidan's clothes and I'm not, any of it(We are keeping his snowboards and winter gear). I am not going to save stuff for 5 years. Moms with more than one, how long will you hold on to clothing? Do you keep just winter gear? Or do you keep it all?

I kept everything!!! WAY too much stuff. It's been nice though... I got a lot of cute coordinating twin outfits, and two sets of girlie hand-me-downs, but William had nothing really to wear when McKenna wore her hand=me-downs. Then I sent dh into the attic to get Nicolas' old clothes, and like Christmas, we suddenly had cute boy clothes again. I actually waited so long to get them down that we missed the 3-6 month clothes, darn it. I really liked those...

I'm a pack rat, though. Oh, and Nicolas is 6 1/2, so I saved them a long time.

---- change subject ------

I made my first fitted diaper. The pockets are great fun, but I found an adorable striped terrycloth remnant at the fabric store and couldn't resist. I hate to part with it now, but I need practice on eBay (never done an auction before) and this dipe is a small. I've got a medium cut out just like it that I need to sew. Will you take a peek at my listing and let me know if I need to change or add something? Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MESE:IT

Savannah - it is an adorable diaper!! I would make sure that you put the words "cloth" and "diaper" in the title of the listing and make that S stand on its own for all of the folks (like me) who find things on eBay by doing a search for key words - like cloth diaper s ! As it is, your listing will not come up if someone does that search. Also if you can put Kissaluv somewhere in the title, that wouldn't hurt. It's not a Kissaluv, but it's Kissaluv-like, and someone seaching for a Kissaluv might pull it up and be willing to give it a shot for the price. So something like...

cloth diaper like kissaluv S w/doubler super-absrbnt CUTE!

That may at least draw a few more folks although you've already had 33 hits.

What a rotten night. In addition to the tooth, now T has my cold, and my cold has turned into a sinus infection. He was once again up every hour and slept in his car seat to be upright. We tried to do shifts which worked fine until halfway into Jo's morning shift (which I took half of without knowing, but that was ok) she comes in and wakes me up to tell me that T is hungry. And after I feed him, I discover that she has gone back to sleep. So... gonna be a great day on 4 hours of non-consecutive sleep.

Gotta love it!

I'm guilty of being a packrat too. Its horrible. I know. We're about to move. Everytime we move we get rid of lots of stuff and then accumalate more over the years.

Cute pictures Mamabear! I love the picture of her giving you a kiss. You have a beautiful family.

Savannah~ I wouldn't change anything on the listing. Sounds good!

As for the internet. I googled Desi's name and some posts came up when I announced her birth.

I finshished my Asian baby carrier! It turned out pretty well. I made the strings a bit short and had to extend. But other than that, I like it all right.

Oh my goodness, that diaper is fantastic! I agree with Jen about putting cloth diaper or kissaluv like in the title. When I do a search on Ebay for the brand of diapers I use I can type it in both ways; motherease, or mother- ease and get seperate listings under both ways. I do know that one time I put *like* in a title of something I was selling and got a notice from Ebay saying that if the item is not that brand you can't put the name on the title and next time they will take it off. But I see people do it all the time, so I'm not sure what that's about.

I guess I should start saving stuff too. Aidan's cloths get so worn I don't want to open a bag of cloths 5 years from now and find some outdated worn and faded clothing. I have purchased some used clothing lots on Ebay for their summer clothes, and what ever is not completely worn out I guess I will save.

Have good day moms and sorry Jen about T- Bryn is sleeping really well right now and I am trying to get in as much as possible right now for what we lose to teething time.

Anyone else's baby attracted to paper? I can't keep Jackson away from it. He's forever trying to put magazines, newspaper, books, and paper product in his mouth!

I was eating some rice last week with dinner while holding Jackson, and he slammed his fist onto the center of my plate grabbed a handful of rice and as fast as he could put it in his mouth. Talk about determination! Even though he got a handful, only a ferw grains actually made it in his mouth, but he must of liked it because he attempted to go back for more. So we tried to give him bananas last night, and he wasn't so much a fan. Not sure if we'll try again with bananas or try some homemade rice cereal or attempt to put it off a little longer.

Sorry I haven't been posting too often. I've been keeping super busy with work and teaching classes. I've been reading all the posts, but I've been using up all of my typing time with work.

I'm with everyone with the teething issues and missing sleep. Why is the teethign process so darn slow!?

Ok, Jackson wants my hands back in his mouth and not on this keyboard anymore. Better go. Happy Monday mamas!

Hi, Mandy... the conference is the weekend of April 15. Friday night is a Pamper Mom type spa night for just $15!! Regular price for getting into the rest of the convention. I've never been before. My friend is organizing the booths and talked me into exhibiting, so it will be an interesting first time for me, LOL. Especially with twinfants. I figure it'll be the most conducive place imaginable for working with nursing twins, though. Also plenty of gals available to sling a baby when help is needed!

Lots of cute pictures.

Let's see if I can remember what I wanted to reply to. :LOL

Still no teeth. Aidan's been gumming everything in site. He's also discovered the wonderment of his three fingers. They taste REALLY good and are a slight sedative.

Neither of the boys are interested in paper. Tori was and STILL is. I swear if I leave her with a piece of paper for longer than 5 minutes, it will be in her mouth and chewed up. Guess she needs that extra "fiber" in her diet.

Savannah- VERY cute diaper. Be careful about using a brand name to advertise it though. eBay gets weird about that and often will pull auctions because of copyright issues. Even though yours doesn't look like a Kissaluv perse you are "using" their brand recognition for your own gain. Sometimes they don't notice them, sometimes they do. A friend of mine put up an auction for 2 yards of fabric. It was Burberry plaid (said Burberry in print all over the fabric) and they pulled her auction because of the "copyright infringement". It was actual fabric from the company and they wouldn't let her post the auction with the company's name in it.

I'm a pack rat here. I saved a ton of the kids clothes. Works well from Jack to Aidan. I've gone through and set aside a tub of girlie clothes from Tori. And I'm going to sell the rest (several bins worth). I basically kept the stuff that I really loved and the really good quality stuff. Like I'll keep almost all of our Hanna Andersson stuff, most of it doesn't go out of style, some Gymboree (I have 1 favorite line that I'll keep all of it from) and . I don't usually keep the worn looking stuff except for a few "play clothes" outfits (unless it is something that was a "wear it ALL the time" favorite). Stuff that won't look dated. A lot of the clothes that I had for Tori (first 2 years) was very gender neutral so we have gotten wear out of it going on third child now. I actually have 5 bins of clothes, 1 of shoes and 1 of cloth diapers/covers stacked next to my computer that I'm going to sell. Scary thing is a bunch of it is NWT or NWOT, Tori is VERY helpful about removing tags for me.

Nothing relating to me comes up when I google my name, unless you think I'm a Drag Queen in the south, a character on a British TV show, a romance author (I've never finished my novel!! and someone took MY name!! and my URL, I thought David had still bookmarked my URL or character in a game with a very scary description: "Five-foot-six, 130 lbs., atheletic. Green-hazel eyes and red hair. About 33 years old."... okay I'm 5'5' need to lose my Aidan babyweight and I'll be about 125, wish I was atheletic and the rest is accurate... oh, I'm now 34... no wait... ... I'm not actually 34... ... I'm 29, I forgot I celebrated the 5th anniversary of my 29th birthday last November. :LOL And about 12 things listed under my username... mostly MDC stuff, a couple from Diaper Pin and EZBoard. Not a whole lot. :LOL I'm not worried. :LOL

Okay time for dinner.

Hello everyone! I can hardly believe it's been six months already! Rowan is such a sweetheart, we all love her so much. I love this age too, she is really interacting with us and is so funny (not intentionally of course. ) She constantly has the kids cracking up.

She's trying very hard to crawl -- she can scoot around pretty well though. And just today she pulled herself up to stand twice! Strong girl!

We are just starting to introduce some foods -- well shoot, we have to, or she starts yelling at us and Willow (my other daughter) wails with her hands over her ears, "I don't want to hear that noise!" She is very demanding. So so far she has tried beans, scrambled egg, cow milk, ice cream, cheese, bread, chicken, potato, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, and chocolate chip cookie. : Mostly still breastmilk though.

Here are some pictures of her from just today:

Hello Women! May I join you?

My name is Liz and I am momma to Lulu, born Sept 5 in New York. She's my first and I'm loving this six month age more than any other so far. She's so happy, loves our adventures outside the house, easily comforted, and is beginning to get our jokes!

Yes, I am at times incoherent from interrupted sleep (we co - sleep and I am light sleeper) and lack of private "down time." And my back aches 'cause the little one LOVES to be held/slinged.

Let me tell you more about us. I am 36, SAHM (thank you DH, a VERY hard working chem teacher) who lives in the beautiful Catskill Mtns. I have lots of great friends but none have wee babies. In my crowd (zen buddhist) it was radical to even get married!!

My doula gave me some names of other moms in the area she had recently helped to give birth. She was able to put together a pretty groovy collection of mamas and sweet babies -- and we've all started to meet. We call it our Mom's Group. It is a godsend. We meet every Thursday for several hours at an aproximate time (no hype about being on time ! Yah!) in each others' homes. We cook and bake for each other, play with the babes, all nurse at once... I've been to another mom's group in the area and didn't feel comfortable. I felt like I was given a litmus test of how granola I was. I am a devoted AP'er but use the dreaded disposable diaper! In our mom's group there's a range of choices people make and we just like to learn from our differences. I encourage other mom's to form a group, but it all comes down to magic of chemistry.

Lulu (to respond to some of the other posts this month) is a BIG barfer!! We have at 40 bibs and we go through them in a couple of days. That little tum is not mature yet. It doesn't bother her and her weight is OK (fiftyieth percentile) so we don't get bothered either. I just yearn for the day when I can put a pretty little dress on her without the big old ugly bib covering it up.

Lulu, finally convincing me of the truth of reincarnation, has also, since her early weeks, been fascinated by "paper" as the PP mentioned. But we think it is the words... Whether it is a printed mug, newspaper, the New Yorker magazine, her board books ... she HAS to have it. She hyperventilated the first cloth book (Fuzzy Bee) I gave her. Her little hands shook when she reached for it. It was amazing. We think she was a Tibetan scholar. Or perhaps a scribe! :LOL

But it means I cannot read a darn thing without that little paw reaching...

Anyway I will post more later, must run to bed.

Thanks for the company Ladies!

Liz

Kids. I got two of 'em.

Hi Liz, welcome.

Linda, it's so good to see you again. Rowan is sure a cutie and has somehow a very serene look in her eyes.

Tristan is obsessed with paper as you can see here. I can't read the paper, a magazine or a book without his "assistance". The newspaper is especially dangerous and if I don't give him his own section he gets mad!

It's interesting that eBay gets crabby about "copyright infringement", because I see people using brand names in their auction titles all the time, which is why I suggested it.

OK, T is in bed, supernanny is a rerun and I can't stomach Andra again!!!, and I'm sick and need the rest...

send healing thoughts?...
