Yay Megan!

OK, I admit this particular dirty deed. She sooo deserved it. I shouldn't have posted anything, but I wasn't sure I could figure out the DDDDC thing. It was difficult to find the instructions page.

Pumping: lately the boobs are cooperative and consistently give me 6 oz in 10 min, pumping both sides at full speed on the Medela Pump-in-style (not Advanced). Yesterday morn I pumped 'em empty and got 5 oz out of the full side. I figure a full boob has 5 oz in it. Evelyn takes more than 10 min to munch that, but I'm guessing she gets most of the milk in the first 10 min after letdown, and then she keeps sucking because she's comfortable. She slows down after 10-15 min.

Andy, icky abouth the phthalates. that makes me glad I don't wear makeup or nailpolish regularly.

Paq, love your description of the SCA dichotomy. And that shirt for Laura is hilarious! I hope your tooth isn't anything nasty. If right now is no less convenient than later, then now is likely the best time to do something about it.

Karen, I wear a M Glamourmom perfectly but my breasts are on the small side for a nursing mom, 34D. (they look like a C) Sooo worth it for the good quality, since I wear them constantly. My theory on the cost: $25 of bra + $14 of shirt. They turn any shirt into a nursing shirt, and a much more effective one than the dreadful things I bought from Motherwear (what a pain those are).

Pam, Happy Birthday! What are cuptowels?

Cool that the big nurse-in has had an impact already. Somebody was certainly listening. I'll wait to hear from y'all what the result is.

Spelling - I get it right the first time. I try to be a stickler about grammar, too.

Jess, cool that you got diapers and are enjoying them. And good for you for being the only crunchy woman left in Boulder. :LOL

Evelyn is four months today. Some of our babies are over five months, wow. It's amazing the spread in size and age, and yet they're so close developmentally. It seems whenever I log on after a weekend to post about something (sitting, solids) there is already a big discussion about it.

DH just pointed out that the thing with the View? Great advertising for them. To see what they say tomorrow, everyone watches and their watchership (or whatever it's called) goes way up. Just goes to show that any publicity is good. shame on barbara wawa... truly

Jessica- I did order a glamourmom but from ebay because I have a ton of paypal $$ from selling diapers. I got a med- and my boobs are in the same boat as yours- smallish (but much bigger than my pre-preg AA :LOL)

OK, I'm a great speller too and a grammar stickler. But I relax my standards for things like this. I'm not as picky about capitals though because I never learned to type properly and most of my mistakes are typos.

So finally someone Fesses up to the DDDC (is that what it's called?). I agree the instructions suck. I wanted to do one for someone- can't even remember my idea anymore and it just seemed complicated for my brain at the time. and usually I'm very sharp!

I've got a table full of boys drawing here. DH bought some printer paper that makes temp tattoos and they are all making some cool designs. I love creativity!

Gauchos are baggy pants, I think.

Karen: Oh no, I don't do root canal. I'd rather have the sucker yanked out. It had a filling, which fell out sometime just pre-pregnancy, and the tooth cracked farther. They were talking root canal when they filled it, which is kinda why I dind't go back. : It's the way back tooth, I figure I'm this used to not using it, they might as well get rid of it. The same tooth on the opposite side is broken even worse, but doesn't hurt. I always used to open bottles with my teeth because my hands hurt so bad. Now I know why they tell you not to do that.

I've been wanting to get bf'ing advocacy tees for us both, but I'm undecided. I might pick something and order it for my b-day gift. I'd kinda like "Silly man, tits are for kids" but I couldn't even wear that to LLL... lots of conservative crunchy Christian types, and i think I'd offend.

Well, she's spent more time dipe-free than not the last two days, and the rash/ickiness is almost gone.

So, I started thinking during the pregnancy that I might like to train as a doula and start doing that when she's a bit bigger. There are very few around here. Have any of you guys done doula training? Where do you start?

Yeah, I definately think we're an awesome bunch. I see a lot of people around these forums with Jan. babes who don't come in here... but if there were more of us, we'd never be able to keep up!

I need to remember that! Also, gauchos are cowboys, as well (usually So. Amer.)

My helper just told me she needs to quit at the end of June to focus on her husband's business. Aaaaaaack!

Well, better get back to work . . . so I can afford to pay somebody who will probably be even more expensive. :LOL

UCSB -baggy pants :

GO Ra'am ,Go Ra'am -you're the big brother, you go boy!! Glad he's feeling better, Karen. The Atarax is prescription. I hate, hate, hate all allergy meds. There really aren't any good/safe ones - they all have some sort of gnarly side effect. Sigh...of course, sometimes that's better than the latter.
I've actually been taking Kobe to a naturopath to treat his allergies and it works pretty well Its very gentle -all they do is keep him on probiotics, and cod liver oil (we actually use cinnamon flax seed oil because he won't take cod liver oil) I'm interested in NAET, but haven't tried it yet.

Ahhh, grammar. I'm terrible. I'm the one who is constantly mixing up her where and wear and her there, their, and they're. Usually its because I'm typing so fast, I don't even notice. I sometimes go back and catch them. Oh, and I'm obsessed with commas. I use them far too often. And I'm always ending my sentences with a prepostion or a conjuction or something naughty. Shame on me!

Ok, well...I'm off to the craft store. I have to get some Wilton's to dye some yarn, including Az's super secret surprise soaker

Aww thanks Jessi! I feel so 'd.

Karen, is AA that "barely" size - you know, more than a but not quite a b? Or is AA the smaller than a? I think it's the between a-b. I was that FOREVER and then I was a B, and actually, I'm only a B in my nursing bra, but a C in regular ones. Strange. And dh thinks I'm practically a porn star these days. lol

And GO Ra'am, what a man! If he can't do it, no one can!

Jeni, rofl, dh loves the "tits are for kids" one.

Pam, they are teatowels here.

It's seriously HOT here again. Took Lauren, dh and the dog to work with me, we picked up some yummy middle eastern lunch and got there just as the kids/teachers were leaving. My dept. chair came over and hugged me, he was sad that I wasn't coming back, and the kids were all googoo with Lauren. Nothing like my 'tards (said with all lovingness) talking to my baby and wondering why she wasn't talking back to them. Except for my 2 kids who can't talk. They grunted and made signs at her and she giggled at them and they were happy. That's a conversation to them. I'm gonna miss it. :

Paq! I think you should get the silly tit man shirt. Go ahead! Stir things up a little at the uber conservative LLL. Violet has one that says, "breastmilk, the original happy meal" We got it from an mdc mama. I'll pm you her name, if you'd liek. I also like the one that says , "I make milk, what's your superpower?" I think that its from granolamom.com

lisa- aa is smaller than a. in my pre-baby days i was b, but after 2 kids and lotsa weight loss to thinner than before, they looked like 2 saggy, deflated balloons but worth every minute of breastfeeding. i figure this time is the last BIG hurrah before we go back to that.

Heh Karen wouldya believe that I intentionally gained weight in middle school after I sobbed to my mom that I was the only girl who couldn't wear a bra... and her "comfort" for me was to tell me that was ok, that breasts were only made of fat and I didn't need extra fat. So I ate EVERYTHING trying to get a little extra fat.. didn't work, I'm just one of those big bottomed tiny topped Italians.

UGH I'm going to whine about the heat a little more. It's sooooooo hot.

Eating watermelon helps some. Need to think about making dinner too. I wish I had some bread, I'd make sandwiches and call it a meal.

hey I want a cool tee! I like the superpower one, but I can't get www.granolamom.com to come up...

bra size: when I got pg the first time I was a 38 B, after expanding from the 36 b of high school. When my milk came in the first time I was 42DD, and this time that bra (even being stretched with wear) was not even comfy!

I'm w/Pam - I got the Bravado +'s and they're not big enough. Just ordered some tie-dyed ++'s and those will fit (I have one that I just threw out (it was 8 yrs. old), so I know it'll fit!). I always wanted little bity boobies. And I always had jugs. I wanted a t-shirt that said I like my milk straight from the jugs, but then I thought it might offend proud pumping mamas like Laura. Laura - would that offend someone in your position??? I may just write it onto a t-shirt I'm going to tie dye this weekend (w/the brownies) so I can wear it in NYC when I go for Beca's birthday and send my Dad into paroxysms (Jessi - sp?) of embarssment (oh I give up. I hate spelling!). Anyway, who sells the happy meal one? Pam - I think you can PM granola mom here on MDC and ask her. I doubt she has her own website w/that name!

Oh, and it was major hot here today too. Fans running all over the place, and still we're schvitzing like crazy. I did get some walking in this afternoon, while beca was at her dance rehersal. Ori is not enjoying the heat. between that and teething he's a real sweaty little pleasure...

Yea for Ra'am! Feeling better and making mama feel bette too! WTG!!!

Joyce - bummer about your helper. What are you doing from home now work-wise??

Thanks for the ounces detail Jessi! That's a fair am't of milk, mama! I gotta say that I don't think I make that much, and tbh, my nighttime my milk is never enough (tho he doesn't give me much time between feeds, like usually about an hour, sometimes less (usually less) between 4 and 7pm. When I go 2 or god forbid! 3 hours, there's loads of milk! Silly bugger.

Ok - this house is trashed, I have a zillion things to organize for tomorrow (field day and brownie party) and the kitchen needs cleaning, dog needs walking, and I was really hoping for a little time to chill before the next feed... sigh. oh well! I signed up for it! LOL! Andy

Annie I want both those shirts, can you pm me the info. I'll even be a bit daring and wear the super power one

Pam they're dish towels here.

Karen you have the best boys. Ra'am sounds like such a love

I think I have the biggest boobs out of all of us. The bravdo++ are kinda tight. I think I'm between a 38F and 38G : I have 38fs and the girls are squished but I've never tried a 38G I just can't do it. Andy, I always wanted smaller boobs too. I would even buy smaller bras in hs and just cram 'em in there. Pre-pg was a 38D. Its really depressing I can never find anything that fits up top. I was trying on my summer clothes today and even with the big 'ol flabby belly that hangs down and covers up part of my undies I still looked like I have fake porn star boobs. I've always been large chested I was a B cup at age 10, and I wasn't fat, a little chunky but now where near enough for the boobs to be from that.

Well I got my strawberry diaper : : : WOOHOO I am so excited. I ran in to tell dh and he looked at me like I was offering him crack :LOL But ds was dancing all around the living room and asked me to show him the picture 5 times

Someone asked about the strawberry thing. Its all Christopher. He loves strawberries. I swear if he had his way, all Miss E's clothes would have strawberries on them, and some of his too So ds totally love me new mei tai (the one I made yesterday) and wanted to know when I was going to make one for him :LOL So I let him try it out. take a look He thought he was the coolest thing

Paq have you tried contacting DONA? That's where I found my doula they do doula training and have lots of info on their site. We really loved our doula, she's training to be a midwife now.

Laura thats awesome about Megan doing so well News like that must really help you to keep pumping.

You know you can get anything on a tee if you do it at cafepress? just start your own store, make an image of what you want on the tee (or tote or hat or whatever) and buy from there.
You can also buy the printer paper for iron-on transfers, though I don't know how brilliant colors will be that way.

Luka is talking with the hanging spider toy in our room. and I thought he wanted a nap.....

Sheri -that is the cutest pic ever!!!! I love it!

The mom I got the t-shirt from is lactationmom. It was from one of the swaps. I have the feeling she just gets the t-shirts and takes them to one of those embroidery places they have at the mall - yk, the kind that does hats and stuff. So, you could probably do that too.

I think I'm going to make tamale pie for dinner. Off to the store I go. We are out of detergent and Violet doodoo'ed on our bedspread this morning, blech!

what is it with boys and butts anyways? Noam's growing out of it, but last year you could send him into peals of laughter by saying butt or fart :LOL

I am actually up to date on this thread It isn't easy with so much chatting!!!

We are dong well. I haven't sold Eamon. Aine is a peach. I am very lucky to have two great babes!

Ann - I am very glad Kobe is better. So scary. At least you have a name for it.

and Karen, hope Ra'am continues to feel better.

What is with our HI mamas and their boys??

Happy Birthday, Pam!

It is hot here without question from May - early Sept. We just live with it. I actually still bike and exercise in it. You adapt, I think. Our AC is set at 78-80 :LOL

My sister always wanted to get ds a shirt that said, "Nice a$$, but I am a boob man" It cracked me up, but I have an odd sense of humor. I like the superpower one and a few others. Just not sure where I would wear it.

Of course, I could ask our resident lactivist to identify the appropriate function for wearing such attire :LOL

I cracked up about the coconut. I would have thought the pan would win. I guess I won't be using the pan for any hitting...

Must go exercise. My sister is kicking my butt in the 1000 min challenge...
