I spilled pumped milk all over my bed once and I just burst into tears and cried for like five minutes. Its so much work to do it, and it just stinks to watch it soak into the ground (or the bed). I didn't even need it, I was just storing some just in case, and it still felt awful, if I actually needed it I think I would have been crying for the rest of the day.

I don't have a rash, that was Karen I think? But thanks for the advice anyway

Ok, Japhet really just doesn't like the rice ceral, I want to give him something else to add to it, but everyone has different advice with what to start with! Are sweet potatos ok? Dr. Sears seems to say not to give them til 9 months but I've seen other people say its a good first food. How about squash? I could do applesauce but will he not want veggies then if I start with fruit? Why does this have to be so complicated...what he wants to eat is pizza and rasberries and icecream

Are you guys going to six flags in Agawam? Can you let me know how it is with a baby? I want to go sometime this summer but I was afraid it would be too hard with a little one. Where in Mass are the rest of you? I didn't realize that you all were. Anyone else from out this way? Or are you all closer in to Boston?

I had a backache after my first epidural for several months after but not for 6 months, I think by the time I was pregnant with Japhet it was gone, so maybe two or three months. I had a spinal and another epidural since then though and they were both fine, no soreness after. Interestingly I think the first epidural gave me a backache but cured my sciatica type problem. (actually l3/l4 nerve not sciatica but the same kind of thing) I hope yours goes away soon Heidi.

I hope everyone is feeling all better soon, I've been lucky so far and only had one cold while taking care of the baby, I wince when I think of someone having to be sick and still take care of their little one, babies aren't real good at giving you down time!

Aviva- I started w/sweet potatos this week, she didn't take too well w/the cereal.

Yup thats the 6 flags we are going to. (it is that one right :LOL ) Me and Az are in eastern Mass, she's in the north shore and I'm on the south shore, next to the Foxboro stadium. Andy is in NY, so we are all quite a bit away from each other. I'm a bit worried on how it will be with my 2 littles ones but I guess there's only one way to find out

Oh gosh. I'm so sorry about the spilled milk. I know how that feels. When DD#2 was a baby I would pump for freezing. Well one day I opened the fridge and found it not working. All my lovely milk was thawed. I cried and cried as I poured it all down the drain.

Come to find out my fridge was fine.....my then 3yr old DD had turned my fridge OFF! I was soooo sad. After that we put a child lock on the fridge, lol.

HI mamas
we went to the doc and he gave me a cortisone shot. I was so desperate by the time I got there that I would do anything to get rid of the itch. it's spread to my face and everywhere I've got it is hot and swollen even with that shot, he said it would take a day or 2 for the itch to really go away. can I just sleep until then????? this sucks. told dh that next time that plant gets out of hand, we'll have to hire someone to cut it back. no way i'm getting near it and everyone else is allergic too. damn

Heehee...actually Aviva Romm is an author/midwife/herbalist. That's whom I was referring to. Beautiful name though

Aviva, I think sweet potatoes are fine. That's what I started all my guys on. So far no problems.

So, I noticed Violet had a toy and was chewing it while sitting on the floor - I glanced over again, because she was gagging, and guess what she had - a deer ANTLER?!?!!? Yuck!!!! Don't ask why we have a cut down deer antler....

Oh Karen, that sucks! I hope you feel better soon. There is nothing worse than being itchy. Maybe some nettle tincture would help? It's good for allergic reactions.

Total wet count was 10 today. We're headed in the right direction. Night folks!

I've read that sweet potato is the closest food analog to breastmilk and that it is an ideal first food.

Good morning, ladies!

Nothing much going on here, just more of the same. My shoulder's feeling much better, thanks for asking. I'm trying to be a little more careful and ergonomically minded (think: What Would OSHA Do?). I forget that I've lost a lot of strength because my activity has been a lot more limited since, oh, November, when my body started to resemble Shamu's.

Anybody going to watch the TdF individual time trial? My dad has been taping the whole TdF for me. He's coming here, today (it's the babies' half-birthday!), so I hope he puts the timer on the VCR! One day I will get back on my bike. At one point DH and I were riding 30-70 miles just about every weekend. It's one of the few sports we enjoy doing together, and easy to do in a hiking-unfriendly city like Houston. I have absolutely no desire to ride now, partly because it's very hot and partly because it's so hard to leave my babes. And partly because the thought of riding on the Houston streets does not appeal to me at all. People here hate cyclists, and insist on driving on the bike lanes (which are full of glass, anyway). There are a few trails, here, but they are short, multiuse and very dangerous if you are riding anything over 15mph. DH doesn't understand my anxiety, but he's been really respectful of it, anyway, especially since I begged and begged for a $1200 Bianchi Veloce (with an Italian grupo . . . ) just a few months before I got pregnant and couldn't stand to be on it. :

Hey, Lisa, I go to the GI doc at Texas Children's Monday--any basic questions that you need answered? Carmen's been having her first normal poos in a while, and no forehead rash since I've stayed away from certain fruits. Also wonder if she's bothered by rice or turkey. I gave up on those and moved on to other things, and the blood and super-sticky goo finally went away.

Aviva, Dr. Sears has a good food introduction table, did you find it? Here's another one that is similar, but a little more detailed: Adding foods for the allergic infant. Not that your DC is allergic, but this table is very conservative if you're worried about allergies.

Jessi, did you have that talk with your pancreas?

Karen, I can't imagine how YUCK you must feel.

Oh, oh, #2 is awake, just when #1 went back to sleep!

Alright, I'm back. Karen, I hope you feel better soooon. Is your house still hot? I can't imagine feeling the heat and sweating on top of the itch.

Annie, I'm so glad you're starting to find some answers about Kobe. That's a crazy little allergen list, isn't it?! I was thinking about school earlier. Does he start that next year, or are you going to home school? Here a lot of schools don't do the cupcakes thing for birthdays or school parties anymore to avoid any issues with food sensitivities, but there's still the cafeteria goop to worry about.

Got postcards from NY, AL, & AK . . . where's MO and OH and AZ and CA and MA? Heidi, Iris is getting hers, soon; I'm out of the rated G ones. :LOL

No, Andy, I didn't send everybody two, just one to the kids in the group that might be old enough to understand that Texas isn't quite as big as some of us think it is. Unless I sent Ori two? I know that I had the same problem as Karen.

Michelle, I bet it's getting really hot in Lodi. I would like to see a picture of your garden sometime. It sounds so wonderful. My BIL just married a girl who taught a few classes in one of the high schools there. She couldn't talk enough bad about it (her family is from Marin County . . . I think reality hurt, maybe? They're in Livermore, now.), but anyplace you can grow grapes in your own garden sounds like it can't be that bad!

Oh, DH just found some zucchini gone wrong. I'm gonna salvage it and cook it while Carmen is still sleeping.

Cathy, glad to see you're back.

Kathy, I'm wondering the same thing about A's toys. Right now we're working on turing the sewing/computer room into her own bedromm/playroom, so her toys that aren't safe (and the ones she doesn't want to share) can be in here. Though in practicality, I don't know how we'll ever keep them from migrating...

We're doing a front hip carry now in the maya... never did get around to turning that bed sheet into a mei tai... Oh well....

Finally the heat wave has broken! It's actually raining today, and after three months we finally have the part to fix the wipers on the car!

Laura, hugs for the toddlerisms! This stage is sooo hard! I told myself I wouldn't call it the terrible two's going into it last year, but I gotta say, parts of it haven't been terrific either (unless you want to use a more literal meaning, cuz I've been terrified lots!)

So, we packed away the playpen. G just wouldn't go in it happily any more. She's start scooching and crawling until she was butting her head into a mesh wall. So, now I have no safe place to put her...

Spilled milk is sad... I've read that the saying comes from the idea that spilled milk can be considered an offering to faeries, and I am certain they would appreciate human milk at least as much as cows!

Sweet potatoe is one of G's favourite foods! I also broke down and gave her strawberries, though I've heard to wait since they're so acidic. But the local ones are ripe now, and will soon be out of season, so if I want her to get nice fresh ones it's now, or next July!

Sheri, hehe, a "little urp" here is more like a flood.

Mary, wow, free time at work? Amazing!

Sheri, how does the turtle only poop in bowls? And where do you leave them? And how shallow are they? (I'm thinking new pet!) and what do they eat? Would my dog also eat that? Because she'd eat it and then the turtle would be hungry!

Aviva, yah, go ahead and dump out the box o'cereal, it's lousy (have you tasted it?!!!) and try something more fun.

I still have a backache from the epidural.

Annie, ew antler snacks!

Michelle, I think you are DOING WONDERFUL GREAT AND SUPER!

Joyce good luck! I really like our GI (we did get in a few weeks ago, for my bday) and things are going ok now. No blood, slime, etc. and the meds are doing wonders.

Going back to bed, dh is home, crashed out hard, and Lauren wants to go to sleep too, I can hear her yelling.

Dh was an ass too last night, I hope it was just airplane crankies and not the mood setting for the weekend.

Joyce, dh and I are talking about biking... he likes it, I don't, so I'm trying to convince him to (hahaha like we have any $) get a tandem recumbant. There are a few bike tours locally - a 150 mile one in hothot Aug. that goes from here to Cedar Point and then TOSRV which is along the river valley, and GOBA is a week long bike/camp trip that looks cool. BUT to take babes they have to be 2, which means we'd need an escort w/car to drive babe instead. Bah!

Karen, I'm sending you non-itchy-when-you-wake-up vibes today.

Joyce, we've been watching most of the Tour here. Okay, I haven't actually been paying much attention to it, but Mike is a fanatic. He's been begging me to let him get us a tandem for years now. Lisa, maybe you and him should go biking together. :LOL I don't even like the idea of just sitting back and letting him pedal. I might consider getting back on my bike someday. We have a couple of nice nature trails.

He put a new exhaust on the car last night (finally). Must be a good day for car repairs. Of course, Mercury is about to go retrograde, so something else will surely go wrong. : I don't usually get too into astrology, but that bothers me for some reason.

Michelle: yay, milky mama! You can do this all by yourself, I know it.

Okay, I have this SCA demo thing to do today and I'm totally not prepared. I need to start gathering my junk and find some info online and stuff like that. See you guys later.

turtles need water too poo. So she climbs into either the cat water dish (which is really a turtle dish) or the dog bowl, which is pretty deep. She eats whatever the dogs or cats are eating and veggies. We always have dry dog food out but Cha-Cha seems to prefer Emma's (the bichon) wet food. When we see Cha-Cha biting at green things then we figure its time for veggies and plop some in front of her until she's done, Louie (the chihuahua) eats the left over veggies. He's usually hovering waiting to snatch them the second she's done. We just put her on the floor, that's where we keep her. She's not a big turtle. She just walks all over. She's very active when its warm but when its cold we won't see her for weeks, then we'll usually have a turtle hunt to make sure she's not dead :LOL
Sometimes the dogs bark or growl at her, it wicked funny, they an be afriad of her but its more a wariness. We've had other dogs over, and they usually do the same thing, a backing up, a little bark and then maybe a sniff and if the turtle moves at all, a quick scrambling backwards :LOL
I would have never thought to just let a turtle roam all over but she's been doing this for 12 or so years. She lived in a tank before that and wasn't very happy. DH used to put her in the tank for a bath (Oh yeah you gotta give them bath in lukewarm water every so often) and when he would she'd just ram herself on the glass until you let her out. Then dh wanted the tank for another lizard so she becuase a total floor turtle

Laura, everywhere we go here has postcards, even some of the restaurants :LOL When I lived in Lynn Walgreens had postcards. Not of Lynn though, cause well, have you ever been to Lynn :LOL They were Boston postcards

We've gotten postcards from TX, NY and AK. Christopher wouldn't read the one from you Andy, I think he thinks you only exist in the computer for him to send smilies too

Michelle thats great You can do it

Jeni good luck on the demo thing.

Dh has been home less than 12 hrs, and most of that was spent sleeping. Now he's in the basement tinkering with his crap again. :

Sheri, what's "not that big" like 6" across or what? Seriously, that'd be cool! I think I'd go for a kitchen/dining turtle instead of a whole house turtle though.

Hi mamas! Seems like a while since I was on to say that...

Ok - this is what I've come up with for six flags meeting - 10AM at the front gate STAGE RIGHT (That's the left side when you're facing into the park). 11:15 at Poland Spring Plunge (South End). 12:30 at Blizzard River (North End) 2pm at Entrance to Hurricane Harbour (Water Park). Let's stay at the front gate until 10:20 or until we're all there. We can just stay at each next place for about 10 min. or until missing parties show up. I focused on the wet rides because I think they're ok for all ages (ie:big kids) and because if it's hot we'll need these wet rides. Also I thought we'd finish the day at the water park, where it'll be a lot cooler and maybe some shade for the babies (poor hot babies). We can take them into the water because we can just go in as far as we want to. I like the water park at the NY six flags better, actually, but there IS a new big wet coaster in Hurricane Harbour, so that'll be an adventure for the brave... If anyone has anything they'd like to add or change, just post it. These are just a possibility... I think we could have lunch at about 12ish nearer to main street, which is half way between the wouth and north ends. BUT if we meet up we can make those decisions at the time, right?!

On to other stuff - Karen - good luck on the itchies. It sounds awful
Annie - I always did sweet pots first too
Michelle - your boobs rock!
Jeni - good luck today!
Az - Nutty animal farm over there :LOL
Laura - I hope dh is going to have fun... the kids will have a blast! Good luck finding postcards!
Pam - necessity being the mother of invention, I'm SURE you'll figure something out that works... I SURE hope you do, anyway! It'll be a lot easier on your mind if you have a place where Abs can call the little stuff home and G. can have lots of moving room w/out too many dangers. It's pretty this toddler/baby period. Don't forget lots of humour for yourself - it's the sanest way to live this life.
Joyce - THANKS for that food link! I realized we'd given him a couple of no-no's already (already!!!) like apples, which are supposed to be after 9 months. He hasn't had any reaction to them, but I think we got lucky. I gotta say, I had some wheat for the first time last night with dinner and I was the mean beastie from it! Ori went to sleep ok and stayed asleep ok. His poop this morning was fine. His diape was wet but not dripping, everything looked good. So maybe it's ME!?!?!? Anyway, thanks for the link. I used to love riding too. We have great roads here - lots of hills but none too daunting. I would ride when Beca was in preschool and I had the mornings to myself. Since it's not safe to ride with a baby under about 9 months (too much jarring mvmt I guess) it'll be next spring befor e I get to ride again. Beca and I went for some long rides in Canada...

Ok, I've gotta get moving here. Lots of and to us all! andy

sounds good Andy. We should definitely be there by 10 am as long as car doesn't break down or traffic issues
hope its lots of fun. Oh and Larry will have fun if K is having fun. He enjoys seeing her have a good time, it makes him happy

Sheri, what's "not that big" like 6" across or what? Seriously, that'd be cool! I think I'd go for a kitchen/dining turtle instead of a whole house turtle though.
I'd say she's around 5" across. I can pick her up with one hand and I have small hands

I have to talk to dh about making it for 10. He can be hard to get going in the am, I can't too but I;'ll be motivaed Those met-ups should be good. I don't know if we'll go on any water rides until the end of the day though. DH has already said he won't walk round in we6t clothes and ds can be iffy like that. It depends or the type of day he's having. I think we're going to bring the :gasp: stroller
