My dd is 10mo and working on about 5 teeth at the same time. I love Hylands teething tablets and think they work wonders to relieve her pain. However, dd has been very constipated. When she finally poops, it's like hard little tootsie rolls, and sometimes not all that little. She sceams and cries while pooping.

Could the teething tablets cause constipation? Or just the teething itself? dd is mostly bf but also eats some fruit and sweet potatoes (hates all other veggies). She's eaten bananas, which I know can plug you up, but she's eaten way more peaches, pears, cantalope, watermelon & apples, which I thought were good to keep things moving. And she shares my bran muffin with me most mornings, too.

Any thoughts?

I'm also interested in hearing any insight. My ds is only 5 months, but he's definitely teething and he's also now going almost a week between bm's -- and is noticably uncomfortable. I can't tell what's making him more uncomfortable -- the teething or the lack of poo. I've been using hyland's teething tabs too and sometimes his poo has been a strange consistency...hmmm...maybe I'll google it....

lmk what you find out...i haven't wanted to call the ped b/c i know they'll just say, "give her some juice"... They might as well say, "give her sugar water" ... i'm hoping to keep her on water & bm as her only liquids and avoid the sugar stuff

Well, I searched everywhere and could only find that teething tablets don't carry any side effects (hyland's anyway). But I think I'll try my own experiment and stop them to see if it helps. Keep me updated on your little one too. Good luck!

You also might want to try giving your dd a teaspoon of flax seed oil to help her constipation. It worked initially with my ds (though it's me that takes it since he's still just on milk). It supposed to work wonders.

My DD always seems to get constipated when she's teething too. I just make sure I have a sippy of water around all the time and try to encourage her to drink it. Maybe all the drool uses up her hydration?

A friend told me to try coconut oil for my son's teething...and it has worked wonders! I'm using Garden of Life Extra Virgin Coconut Oil-the same I use to cook & bake with. If you have any brand of coconut oil around, try rubbing a bit on their gums and see if it works for you.

She also made a sugar scrub with it and it's amazing on my skin!
