DD is 6 months, so I'm not sure what SHE enjoys. But I like the Madeline books and the original Winnie The Pooh stories.
I'm also a fan of Beatrix Potter. One of my favorite Golden Books is the Grover/Sesame Street story called "The Monster At The End Of The Book," especially when you do the Grover voice.
We are big Munsch fans, Love You Forever, Red Yellow, Green, Purple, and Up up Down are some of my faves. We love the story So Many Bunnies - about a mama rabbit who has 26 kids, one named for each letter of the alphabet and told in the rhyme of mother goose's There was an old lady who lived in a shoe...
We love Owl Babies and The Velveteen Rabbit and Berenstein Bears books. Heck, we just love books!
Our almost 3 year old is a HUGE book fan... we read dozens of books a day and have hundreds. Here are some suggestions: when he was a baby he loved Maisy books. The big words and colorful pictures were very captivating to him. Same can be said for books by Todd Par or is it Parr?
He also likes books by Eric Carle and Lois Ehlert. I think I have the spelling right on their names but not positive.
One good thing we did was get a card to the local library, let him pick out a variety of books and then see what kinds of books were his favorites before buying some of them. There are tons of great children's authors out there.
My dd loves these:
Brown Bear, Brown Bear
any of the Max and Ruby books (Rosemary Wells)
Tom and Pippo
any of the Byron Barton books (remakes fairytales in board books)
Thats Not My Puppy
I'm hoping to get my hands on my story books from childhood from my mom. My favorites were the Richard Scarry nursery rhymes, Ferdinand the Bull by Munro Leaf, Bedtime for Frances by Russell Hoban, Morris the Moose series of books. I can remember vividly sitting and reading in my room or by the fireplace when I was little and look forward to helping DS create his own memories. I also loved reading I'll love you forever (it makes me cry every time, too!), Miss Spider's Tea Party and Carl the Dog with the youngest of the boys I used to nanny for.
One that my sister gave us is from MoMA called Hola Amigo about Mexican food. My husband loves it because he is Mexican and it talks about all of his favorite foods!
I am hoping to get some books in Polish, my family's native language. I will most likely have to get them from relatives there.
Todd Parr writes (and illustrates) really fun books. They are great! The text is simple, the graphics are bold and clear. One I'm thinking about is called "It's OK to be Different" and deals with some more serious "ok's" ("Its ok to be adopted) and some funny ones ("Its ok to eat macaroni and cheese in the bathtub").
Another vote for todd parr, my son looooooves the "otto" series, he can't get enough of it, and I think one reason he likes it so much, is b/c the book is illustrated and written in very vibrant primary colors.
Other favs,
"The hungry catepillar"
"Frog and Toad" series
"Curious George" series
"Clifford the big red dog" series
"Babar" series
"Click, clack moo"
"Duck for president"
"Giggle, giggle, quack"
"The Tawny Scrawn Lion"
"Tails" (my son loooooves this book, lots of different texture and pages that are kind of interactive)
There are more, but I can't remember them now, I love children's books, they are so fun and the illustrations are so colorful.
i found some books that i love to read to dd (9 mos) and she enjoys hearing.

also charles shaw...it looked like spilt milk
and dorothy kunhardt... pat the bunny
