Here's a stupid joke that I think is really funny:

Q: what do you give to someone who has everything?

A: Penicillin!

Here's one, it has a little bit of language in it so be warned.

A mother was working in the kitchen, listening to her five-year-old
son playing with his new electric train in the living room. She heard the train stop & her son saying, "All of you b*astards who want off, get the hell off now, cause this is the last stop! And all of you b*astards who are getting on, get you're a*ss in the train cause we're going down the tracks."
The Mother walked into the room where her son was playing and said "we don't use that kind of language in this house. Now I want you to go to your room & stay there for TWO HOURS. When you come out, you may play with your train, but I want you to use nice language."
Two hours later, the son came out of the bedroom & resumed playing with his train. Soon the train stopped & the mother heard her son say, "All passengers who are disembarking the train, please remember to take all of your belongings with you. We thank you for travelling with us today & hope your trip was a pleasant one." She hears the little boy continue, "For those of you just boarding, we ask you to store all of your hand luggage under your seat. Remember, there is no smoking on the train. We hope you will have a pleasant and relaxing journey with us today."
As the mother began to smile, the child added, "For those of you who are p!ssed off about the TWO HOUR delay, please direct your complaints to the fat b!tch in the kitchen."

nak - ing here

haven't time to quote but just type a few snippets!!

Cerys has rolled a few times both ways but she'll only do it if there is really truly something she can't have and she wants it (ie marbles, small toy cars etc etc ) She is a very laid back baby and my easiest yet!! (I ordered an easy one )

No crawling or anything much. It's funny if she was my first I"d be worried -she's not that mobile but truly they are all so different. I'm just enjoying her laid-back ness.

I have a million things to do here (civil union is tommorrow)

hey just a quick note made a great discovery ................... molded maternity bras!!! I have just realised what they are for - so that my big *meaty* breastfeeding nipples don't show through tops I LOVE THEM!!!! How did I miss this invention

ok gotta go...............will post pics after the event

I had to get molded non-maternity bras for the same reason as needing them when nursing ... I looked cold all the time. I know some purposely try to achieve that look ... I'm not one of them.

Thank god a new thread! Those 800+ reply ones really get me and I forget to reply to people... but before I do:

Witt, happy wedding!

Juice, Rachel started by banging her head into my chest repeatedly. That counts as communicating in my book!

Today she did "more" More what, I don't know. She seems to be trying out a few things to see what will happen

Welcome to the new folks! Jessica3, we tried sweet potatoes and avocado. The avocado was NOT a go. *sigh* But she likes the sweet potatoes ok. We're not rushing. momtophr, man that's a big preemie! My first DD was only a few ounces more and she was almost a 42 weeker!

Crawling... ALMOST! Rachel has been up on all fours rocking furiously for 2 weeks now. It's very nerve-wracking as I can't leave to pee lest she start crawling while I'm gone Tonight before bath I took her diaper off and she was up in a tent position on hands and feet, pushing her knees forward. So she moves her knees and has started moving her left hand only so she's stuck going in a circle until she figures out that she has to move the right. She's got the swivel down pat though

Hmm, molded maternity bras. That might be nice. I am permanently *at attention* as well, but I also wear nursing pads. When I wear light colored shirts you can see the circle of the pad very clearly, and I can't wear thin shirts or my boobs look lumpy : Frankly I'd rather have my nipples sticking out, but it's not very sexy when there's a big wet spot over them. Sigh.

Jokes... I'll have to come back.

He was my first baby, and I was starting to be uneasy NIP with a toddler. I started nursing him and just lightly talked about him needed to nurse and she said she nursed all four of her children. I asked her when they weaned, and she said "When they wanted to." This lady was just so sweet. Never asked for a thing from anyone. She always had a smile for us. I never heard her complain about anything. She always called my ds a "dandy". Of course, she couldn't remember the girls' names, but she loved seeing them.
I'm so sorry for the loss. That really sucks.

Thanks. I was too. Thanks to everyone on the well wishes. She was a very sick baby. I was seriously worried. I called the doc again yesterday about her soft spot. Because other people could finally see w hat I'm talking about. Doc said it was normal with illness and if I wanted, I could bring her in and he could recheck her. Today it is mostly down. She has squealed a bit and played a little. Her temp is still running around 101 rectally, she is still too quiet and too still, she is whining and clingy and she still acts like she has a headache.Thiss is all out of character for her. I still hate it that she is sick, but I'm breathing a little easier. I have accepted that I have given her morer medication than I would like to. My mom came yesterday morning and bought her antibiotic. She was going to take us to the medicaid office, but it was freezing rain and the girls were so sick. So she just paid the $11 for the antibiotic. After 3 doses, I really saw her take a turn for the better, so I'm getting okay with giving it to her. I feel like I should give her some acidophilus. Anyone have any recommendations? Nnow I'm really, really sick. Can I take Tylenol if I give her tylenol? Will she get it from breastmilk and the dose I actually give her? Is that too much for her? I have an awful cough and everything from my diaphragm up, hurts. how did I take care of 2 nurslings with this cold-thing? Thank goodness for my mom, who did our laundry and dishes, while also caring for my SIL and her 3 kids and their house because they're all sick too. Am I really the offspring of this super-mom?

Yes I can crawl. And so can my babe. She can cruise also. Pulling up on furnture and moving about. Although, there has been none of that the past few days.
More later. Babe is sleeping, must get in bed.
But first , Congrats witt. And tomorrow my Mattie is 7 months old.

welcome to the third July-Jessica and momtophr - momtophr on three boys under four...

I'm the mother to the other crawler - she is absolutely everywhere now, and fast. Stopping only to examine and lick things, and pull up, and stand like the king of the castle for 5 minutes and then fall down on her head...cry, feed, repeat.

There are lots of things I want to say and respond to but think I've got to wake up first. Sorry I can't answer your medical questions JJoy -and give your Mum a hug from me! Thank goodness she's around...

My Mum has her colonoscopy today. I didn't sleep last night...

Funny, Ethan is like this too. He does roll, but he doesn't sit and he shows no interest in crawling. Fine by me.

Nowhere is it written that we have to make them monthly... we could do them weekly if that's easier for people to keep up with. Thoughts, everyone?

jjoy, so glad mattie is doing better.

Oh...my...goodness. Late night. We were going to get to bed at a decent hour....and then ds1 threw up EVERYWHERE. :Puke It would seem that dh allowed him to devour a half box of cookies while I was out yesterday. So we were up giving ds1 a bath and changing bed sheets. Thank goodness ds2 didn't wake up, because we were banging around kind of loudly, and every so often, ds1 would loudly direct our attention to a spot on his body where there was dried puke: "Mommy, my foot! Hand! Hand!" I just don't know why he didn't come get us when he puked. He just threw up and crawled back into bed. : Poor baby.

Pay day today, must go so I can figure out how to make ends meet for the next two weeks. Vegetarian eating is pretty cheap, no?

Claire, thinking of you and your family today!

Juice, someone needs to have a chat with our 2 yo's about getting up at a decent hour of the day.

AidansMommy,so sorry about the puked cookies. Did you make dh clean it up? Natural consequences and all....

Sarenka, Hoping for good news from the exam!

Elsanne, thanks so much for the condolences.

All I have to say today is it's Friday and we are looking forward to a laid back family weekend. I have errands to run today, and it seems the snow is melting so fast that it will be gone by the time I have myself and three kids ready to walk out the door.

My dd2 decided that at 7am she was also done sleeping. I usually wake dd1 at 7am to get her ready for school. So instead of giving my undivided attention to dd1 i had 2 of them to care for. All fun. lol not.

ok, I have a question for y'all now that we're approaching 7 months postpartum... what are you doing to get back into shape? I lost most of my baby weight pretty early on (thank you breastfeeding and moving stress), but my body is an entirely different shape than it used to be, and I have about 10 pounds to go before I'm at my ideal weight (which I haven't seen since college). We recently got a puppy, and so I've been wearing DS and walking the pup for 1/2-1 hr almost every night, and that is slowly toning my legs. I've also just begun to get serious about toning the rest of my body, doing some resistance training with DS as the resistance. However, I am still eating more sugar than I should, and not drinking nearly enough water. Anyone else?

Also, i would like to point out that DS is upstairs, asleep, and I am downstairs on the computer (it's 9 pm here). He naps on the couch during the day and I usually hold him at night until I'm ready for bed, so this is big!

Ah yes, Juice, I was just about to suggest that we make it weekly. That's my vote!

Thanks Tanya for the thoughts - I just phoned my mother all on tenterhooks and it turns out the exam is on Monday!!

I went to the dr myself with both dds and it seems that dd2 has fallen below the 'normal' curve on the chart - I said that it was a chart made for formula fed babies and I was expecting a dip, but she said below this curve was not really Ok and it was time for dd to be eating. Well since throwing herself on dh's meat stew the other night (after which she had a rash on her face ) she has had measly amounts of potato, apple and banana - but she isn't too interested. We also all had our blood tested as she thought we might all be a bit anemic. I'm wondering whether to have the last precious bit of dried ground placenta and give some to dd2...
she gave me some anthroposophic(????sp?) medicene for the inflamed nerves in my back and funnily enough since taking the first dose I feel better. She is a bit of an intuitive genius, my dr. Not sure about the weight/solids, though, dd looks fine to me.

Hope you're all celebrating in fine style, claire!

-guhs to those who are cleaning up sick and recovering from excessively early wakings...

oh, and a joke. True story. Man goes to clean some old family graves. He leans over a grave to wipe away the dirt over the name and he hears a voice, 'who's there?' he jumps a foot in the air, looks behind him, all around, broad daylight, no one there. You're imagining it, he thinks. Leans over the grave again, reaches forward...'Who's there?' By now he's !! He's about to run then he takes himself in hand and leans forward determinedly once more...'who's there?'

then he realises he's left his mobile phone switched on in his pocket and when he leans forward it automatically dials someone :

Breastfeeding. It burns the same amount of calories as running a mile every day. I'm enjoying my nak and recliner exercise too much.

I lost all my baby weight and I'm also a different shape. But that happened after my last baby! I could not wear the pants I wore before I was pregnant despite weighing the same.

Now if I could do something about the 30-40 pounds I've been carrying since before I was pregnant with my first baby. Gah. Guess I should pull out the pilates dvd....

In my life, DH is really stepping up to the challenge of being caregiver while I'm working - which is helping a HUGE amount with stress levels. We had a brief heart to heart last week where I, surprisingly, managed to express my concern about WoW distracting from DD in a nonconfrontational, non-angry manner... and since that talk things are massively better.

First work deadline of the month down, and so far so good.

DD seems poised at the brink of figuring out how to use her legs to crawl, but she will probably be a while yet until she gets it. No teeth, but lots of fun at dinner smearing whatever we're having around her mouth with a spoon. I figure she's probably actually consuming about a tablespoon worth of solids a day, but feeling like quite the big girl doing so. Meals are much fun, even though it's an emotional shift to let DH share in feeding our little one.

Me too!! Is that true about the calorie burning?? Good grief!

I don't actually weigh myself at all, apart from when I go to a dr while pregnant, no scales in the house. But my shape is not the same at all. Basically while the rest of me is pretty normal, I still have the belly of one who is 4 months pregnant, maybe 5... a whole new size for trousers. Dh swears he saw it move the other day! Oh dear god...no...!!
