OK, the poll on infant carseats has me worried. I have one from a friend (Fisher Price) who only used it once (in her mother's car when they went to visit), so I never saw any height/weight limits. How do you know when your infant is too big? My dd is 11.5 months and still in hers.

I read on another thread here that you should keep them rear facing even into toddlerhood cause it's safer. There was a link to a video comparison of front facing vs rear facing crash test dummy. What kind of seat can you use for rear facing with a toddler?

Most infant seats go to about 22lbs. and 26in. or so... but the weight requirement is much more important than the height. If your babe is over the weight limit on the seat then you should switch to a convertable carseat which can be rear facing, and later forward facing - most go up to 40lbs.

If you have the manual for your carseat check that to be sure, otherwise look at the info. printed on the side/back of the carseat it should say there as well. HTH!

Sarah : , mama to Lucas (8) , Ryan (5) : , Andrew (1yr) , and someone new : due early Dec.
