Job interview ---> beer. Attorneys are weird. I will never understand them. So I can't really tell you whether or not it went well.

Candace -- I pour you a virtual Bridgeport Blue Heron (one of my faves) in acknowledgement of your stressful day. Or Deschutes Black Butte Porter. Or Mac's amber. Widmer Hefe? Anyway. Good Portland beer abounds in my virtual pub. Belly up, baby.

It's a courtesy I give to everyone else (We called all of them to let them know and make sure they were ok with her pink eye before we headed up).

But no. We are now on week 3 of being sick.

She threw up all night last night....we ran out of blankets. The kid can't keep anything down. I feel so bad...I should be able to keep the sickies off her for a moment.
That sucks, I'm sorry lil' ant is sick. I can't believe that they didn't warn you. How crappy.

Evie loves squash and zuchinni. She also adores watermelon and threw a huge fit the other night when we cut her off.

Ooooh, awesome. I know I will have to do one of my rotations outside the Spokane area. Most of the spots are in the Northwest, Alaska, Utah, Nevada... I'm subject to what they give me. It will be tough to spend 5 or 10 weeks away from home, but it's for a greater good in our lives. I saw plenty of military families survive much scarier & longer periods of separation. And it's at least a year away.

Candace, glad I could be of help. I've proclaimed myself "Ale Wench" of the Running Tribe, too. It was red wine up in here tonight, as usual.

Aw, Sarah! So sweet!

Hi Megs! Hi Momma2libby!

I am trying to check in more often so I don't miss too much. But I'm sure I will, we are in full trainwreck mode over here. I have a babysitter I pay to not watch my baby, because my baby does not want anyone but me. Good job, huh? At least she cleans without being asked when the baby is climbing on me while I'm trying to work.

Our biggest news is that Harper ate CHEESE and lived. I wasn't going to challenge her for a while, but daddy did it by accident giving her a bite of his sandwich. So far, so good. No rash, no weird poop. I am shocked. I had milk in my coffee for the first time in 8 months, and that went ok too. I am still on the fence about how much milk to add back in. *I* got totally sick after having it after avoiding it for so long. We'll be taking this very slow and still have a lot of thinking to do about our basic eating style.

Oh she was.

DH missed it, but she made it up to him. I gave her the phone last night...

A: Hi Baby!
K: Dada?
A: What're you doing?
K: DADA!! Dadadadadadadadada

So cute. I could hear his voice getting all mushy. She's never really acknowledged that someone was talking to her on the phone before.

My Dh would be so jealous. DD calls him "mama". He tells her "papa" and she just keeps repeating mamamamamama to him.

So cute! I talk to P on the phone while I'm at work. He'll even have a conversation with me.
Lately he gets really excited when someone puts on their bike helmet. He LOVES going for rides.

I've wanted to give P some asparagus but was worried because it is so fibrous. How did you cut it/prepare it?

Oh, also, I hope Lil Ant feels better soon!

P has become very headstrong. He gets really mad if you don't let him do something he wants to do (like, push the stereo through the back of the entertainment center, or shake the lamp and burn out the bulb) and then starts to cry. DH calls him Thor the Power Baby. Which is kind of funny since Ashley actually HAS a Thor...

Helen, I feel the same way about trying to figure out how I want to eat (though it's good news that she's no longer sensitive to dairy!) especially b/c DH does the shopping now and he's all about saving money

Awww, E thinks he's so cool when I let him "talk" to someone on the phone. His eyes light up and he starts smiling. It's funny, he'll take the phone and put it back to my ear, then back to his, then back to mine, and so forth. This would last quite a while if I let it. Hehehe.

E does the same thing but he says "dada" instead of "mama!"

Hm, well it was already cut when I got it. But each piece was maybe 8in long or so? I just cooked it in boiling water for about 5-8min. just until it's tender and then I just gave him the top parts.

helen - good luck working through the dietary maze

asparagus - snap the ends off, grilled or steamed with a little lemon juice, and we give her the whole spear. she chows down.

Sarah - Mama to Vic (1/19/00), Syd (4/06/02) Sam (4/20/06-born at 30wk2d), JackJack (2/14/07) and Charlie (4/30/10)

Hey, thanks for the good words about the job interview, everyone. I will let you know if they actually hire me.

Cute baby updates, too! I love hearing what your babes are doing. Talula is really into music. She even has favorite songs. She loves this Os Mutantes song. She dances. She gets up on her knees and waves her arms around. It's the cutest thing.

Asparagus - we eat it a lot. We love cooking it on the grill. We soak them in a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar and put some salt and pepper on it, wrap it in foil and barbecue. Talula like to just hold a spear and gnaw on it.

Oh, I think she's feeling better. She woke up with a huge smile and has been playing and dancing ever since.

Welcome momma2libby!

I'm sorry baby Ant is sick and hope she feels better soon! 3 weeks is a long time for a momma.

AlbertaJes, that is so cool!! She's taking steps and talking on the phone!

Selesai, why are you denying your baby all the fun stuff in life? Penelope is all about the naughtiness. It is so much fun for her. And she knows we don't want her doing x,y,z either. When we say her name she gives us this impish look, says "ooooooohhh" and gives a killer smile. It is so cute.

For the non-dairy mommas - our family is allergic to dairy, but momma loves cheese. For me I can eat a little bit every once in awhile and things are fine. If I eat too much at once or a little bit regularly then all heck breaks loose with nurslings (and me).

It's rather frustrating the guessing game.
