stress incontinence /4th degree tear
( I posted this a couple days ago in health & healing. It was recommended that I post in "life w/ babe" & I'm pregnant" too. here goes!)
HI this is my first time posting anything here!
This is a two part post:
1. I have one DS born 10/01/02 - As a result of the birth I have a prolapsed bladder and cervix and VERY minor nerve damage which caused stress incontinence (losing urine with lifting, jogging, jumping, and sometimes walking if bladder is very full) and frequent urination. After seeing doctors and a pelvic floor physical therapist I have concluded that serious Kegel work will be my best option to recovery (a pessery is next, and surgery - they insert a "sling" to hold up the bladder and, for which they also recommended a hysterectomy due to the prolapsed cervix, is out of the question at least until I am MUCH older). I have to wear a 'poise' pad all the time. Day to day things are not really that bad ( I know where to find every bathroom in the city!) but I am a professional dancer/choreographer so recovery is ideal so that I can return to dancing in the future. phew that was long but to finally get to the question - anyone else have this? had any kind of recovery? Any other things that were helpful? I must add that things are much better than they were at first!
ok number 2 - I also had a 4th degree tear (many stiches) that healed nicely but was advised by one doctor that I should really consider a c-section for anymore children because if I re-tear it could go INTO my rectum and thus lead to fecal incontinence (ie - leaking poop). question - anyone else had 4th degree tear and subsequent vaginal birth? must add that I am a very small person and ds was two weeks late and 8ibs. 11.6 ounces (and cute as a button).
