My 6 month old DD started this thing over the weekend where she shakes her head from side to side. It seems to mostly happen when she's tired. I have no idea if this is just a new discovery she's made, but it makes me kind of nervous. We have her 6 month WBV tomorrow so I'll definitely ask her ped about it. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced anything like this. Oh, and I know it can be sign of an ear infection, but she doesn't seem to have any other symptoms so I don't think that's it.
my dd does this when she is waking up, specially if we lift her up too fast after she woke up. i think is just that her little muscles are still waking up too.
My son started doing this around 9 months. Every time we said, "shake it shake it shake it" he would shake his head. Now he does it to mean no, and when he is dancing.
I think it is cute and never worried about it.

My baby did this at 5-6months but it was when he was really happy/excited or jamming to music w/ his father. It was so funny and cute. I wish I had a video camera to tape it because he doesn't do it anymore.
Come to think of it he did it now and then when he was sleepy.
Yes! Yes! 8 m.o. dd does it all the time--with a big grin on her face. I, too, wondered about it. So, I tried it...and, it feels and sounds pretty cool. At least I think it would if I was an infant, newly in control of my body.
