Does your baby do this?

Last week, at 5 months, ds started sticking out his tongue a lot. Usually it's when he is smiling at us. It looks just like this smiley: :P but much much cuter.

What does this mean? Is he getting better control over his tongue? We want to start solids at the beginning of next month when he is six months. Is this a sign he's getting ready for food?

Whatever it is, I like it! It's fun! Plus he's drooling less.

(he also really likes it when I stick my tongue out back, and make blathery noises with my tongue. Annoying mouth noises, singing, whistling and silly sounds float his boat! )

Eli did this too! I was worried that it might be something odd, but he stopped doing it about two weeks later when I first gave him some solid food. He also started talking a lot more right around then. I think it was just his way of limbering up for the next stage .
