I have an 8 month old dd, she is exculsively bf still!

For as long as I can remember, her stools have been more mucus like than "seedy". I really never thought anything of it until she had some blood in her stool and I took her to the ped.

We are still trying to figure out the blood-I haven't seen it again, but I am worried about the mucus. Does this mean a food allergy?

I have been eliminating dairy, soy, nuts, ggs, citrus, shellfish from my diet pretty diligently since birth. I do eat wheat.
DH is allergic to eggs, but nothing else and no allergies in my family.

She is gaining fine and seems happy, healthy etc. She does wake frequently at night and won't sleep alone, but I think that is more of just who she is than a pain thing-she is a restless sleeper though-except in sling!

Anyway-I have tried to do some research on this and found nothing...the dr has not been helpful and we are still waiting for test results from stool sample.

Her stool is yellow in color, but does have more odor than I think bf stool should have.

Thanks for your help!

Acugirl, I can offer a bit of empathy if nothing else. I know it's difficult to have something not quite right in the stool area. DD periodically had small amounts of blood in her stool off and on from 5 wks to 5 mos. More often than not there was a small but identifiable anal fissure. Tried elimination diets and there never seemed to be a correlation. Maybe I overlooked something. We eventually took her to a specialist who expressed very little concern. Anyway our experience caused me to delay solids until just about 1 month ago (DD is 11 mos). In the end it seemed to resolve itself, but I'm not one who does well with the *unknown*. I wish you luck.
