Tomorrow night my girlfriends are taking me out for a birthday celebration, this will be only the second night I have been away from DD (first time she was 3 months old, now she's 6 months old) My husband is going to put her to bed and I have a bunch of breast milk stored in the freezer. I am wondering about how much should he give her for her bedtime meal? She usually nurses from both sides for a total of about 40 minutes when she's falling asleep for the night.
Thanks!

(I am excited to go out but also I am going to miss her SO MUCH!)

My dd (almost 6 months old) takes up to 5 oz. at a time, but I know the amount varies greatly from baby to baby. If you've got a bunch stored up, that's good, because obviously you want to have more than you think you'll need available!
Is it stored in small increments or big ones? If small, you could thaw out the amount you think he'll need and then he can always thaw more if needed, maybe?

(happy birthday too!)

I have it stored in Medela Pump & Save bags, I took 10oz out just to be safe and there's probably about 17 more ounces in the freezer if he needs it.

My 5mo eats about 4oz at a time. I store milk in 2 an 4 oz amounts so we can thaw a 2oz bag if she powers through the 4oz and wants a little more.

10oz should be more than enough for a single feed! Do you know that she will take a bottle though? If she had only one bottle three months ago she may not be interested now!

Hope you have a relaxing evening out.

DD has a big nurse-down at night too. One night, she nursed down and went to bed and we went to a late show while my mom watched her. My mom was supposed to call if she woke up (the movie theater is right up the street) and we would come home immedeatley - I was concerned that she would be upset if she woke up. (there is a point here, I swear) My mom didn't call, DD woke up and took 5 ounces over the course of an hour and a half (more than she has ever taken at once), AFTER being nursed down. I would rather be safe than sorry, I think you're good w/ the 10 ounces.

Have fun!

My DD is younger (not quite 5 months) and takes 8 oz EBM at a time (though I'm starting to wonder if that's unusual? Everyone else's LOs seem to take less.... She also nurses for brief periods - rarely more than 10 minutes total - but she's a VERY efficient nurser, and generally empties my boobs in that time, and I"m guessing gets 7-8 oz then too, though that's obviously only a guess).
