Benjamin Ocean ---. All the people we know named Benjamin are wonderful genuine people. And I have a personal passion for the ocean that I wanted to share with DS. And since I took my DH's last name when we married I told him I get to choose our kids middle names! But he loves it too We call him Ben, Benny and Jamin'.

If we have a girl in the future she will be named Maria Rose---. I have a thing for West Side Story...Maria! Maria! Mariaaa! And I love the nickname Mia!

My son is Ezekiel Stone. We call him Zeke. Ezekiel means "strength of God" and it fit because he was really strong when he was born and was in the NICU--the strongest baby in that NICU at the time. Stone is a representation of the strength portion.

My daughter is Tyne Dain. We call her Ty. Tyne means river. More importantly Dain is for the Daintree Rainforest where we were married. We were married along the river in the rainforest so it goes with the meaning.

We are big into the meaning thing. We can't have too many of these little ones or we are going to be grasping at straws to find something with a lot of meaning!!

Great thread- Thanks for sharing-and giving!- all the beautiful and thoughtful names to your lo's. My son is Athens Theo. Such a strong name for such a little guy (13 mos.) but I think it's gonna fit him just fine. He has brown eyes and brown hair and a really precious and playful nature. I was initially feeling Theo as a first name but my dh talked me into it and I'm getting used to it Is it weird it's taken me so long to get used to it?!

My daughter is Angela Quinn ------.

Dh picked Angela to reflect that she's his little angel, and I picked Quinn because it's a family name from my Irish line.

Cool thread. I like reading the reasons for the names you Mammas chose.

La Bambina is named Eloisa Mayana Italianlastname.
Nickname is Ela.

We considered naming her Valentina Mayana. Valentina is such a pretty name, and it sounds the same in Italian as it does in English, but it's in the top 20 most common baby names in Italy and I wanted something more original for her. I love the name Eloise, but to make it more Italian we added the A at the end instead of the E, it also makes it prettier. And, it was the only other name DH and I could agree upon.

Mayana is a mix of my mother's middle name, Grandmother's middle name, Great Grandmother's middle name and Birth mother's middle name (!) -- they all had the same middle name; May, and DH's Mother's name Luciana, thus Mayana. (Maylu didn't sound right.) I really wanted to honor all these great women. The letter M is important too, since Mother's, Grandmother's and DH's Nonna's name all start with that letter.

Creed Judah-Ishmael _____

Creed cuz it means a statement of faith and after 2 miscarriages in a row before him and the doctors saying I woudl miscarry HIM as well....it was my triumph.
Judah after the biblical story in Genesis 29 of Leah focusing on God after 3 tries at getting her husband to love her through her sons...it emulated my own life story after my ex left me. She decided to focus on God abnd named her fourth son Judah.

Ishmael is biblical and means God Hears. It was my way of praising God for answering my prayer for another child.

DS is Joseph Raymond. Raymond is the name of 2 of his great-grandfathers and is also his father's middle name. Tim has always wanted to share his middle name with his first son since it was a connection to his past and to grandparents that he had a great relationship with. We chose Joseph because it is a name rich in Biblical history and is a new name to our family. We really wanted one family name and one new name.

Jessica-Wife to Tim and SAHM to DS (6/07) and : due 4/10

Love the name Djuna! Do you pronounce it "June-ah"?

My son's name is Aesop Glenn HyphenatedLastName. Aesop came to me in a dream, and also reflects our love of storytelling. Glenn is my partner's grandfather's name.

Our 2 year old is Cecily Juliana. Cecily is the medieval version of Cecilia, the patron saint of music (an important association for us) and Juliana was chosen because she was born at Christmas-time, and "Jul" in Swedish mean "Yule."

Allison:  a little bit Waldorf, a little bit Medievalish, and always"MOMMMMYYYY!" to sweet Cecily since 12.22.05

Liam Edward Lastname(Irish). dh is Sean, fil is Kerry. dh wanted to stick with the Irish 'lineage' . Edward is a family name from both dh's and my family.

We picked out Maggie (not short for anything, just Maggie) for a girl something like 6 years ago...hopefully she will show up in the future Evelyn was my grandmother's name who passed away a week before I found out I was pg with ds, and my guess date was 2 days before my grandmother's birthday!! If ds was a dd, and she had been born on my gm birthday, I would have had to fight dh for Evelyn. I'd still like to consider Evelyn, but I'm not crazy about Maggie Evelyn....In case any of you were interested in that story

Marilyn, wife to DH 09/02 and mama to my boys, DS1 11/06 and DS2 02/09, and a new one on the way in 06/12!

Ronan Kee "last name"
Ronan is Irish for "little seal" and is the name of many a king and bishop.
Kee is the surname of one set of my great-grandparents of whom I was particularly fond.

I sure like Leo!
