Just wondered if anyone could give me some info about vaccinations in general....

What is the argument for not vaxing? I'm really curious as I had never even considered this (no kids yet btw, just trying to educate myself.) In England it is fairly routine now to reject the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella all in one go shot)and have single vaxes instead, spaced by at least 6 months, but I never thought about not having the other ones - what's the reasoning behind it?

Check out the Vaccinations forum here at MDC. Pull up a chair, put your feet up and search the archives, its very informative. I, myself, have chosen to forgo vaccinations based on much research and personal experiances ( I have had vaccine reactions and I know more ppl who have had SEVERE-even death causing- reactions from shots, but though, I know ppl who have had the diseased I don't know any who have had serious complications or died.) Some books that might help more with understanding the antivax stance include
Vaccines, are they really safe and effective by Neil Z ******
Whatyour doctor may not tell you about childhood vaccinations by Dr. Stephanie Cave
How to raise a healthy child inspite of your doctor by Dr Robert Mendelhson

I second the Vacc forum here at MDC. There's some very knowledgeable people that have been doing the hard research for years, and are very generous with sharing.

Also check out "Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parent's Guide" by Aviva Jill Romm. I'm reading it right now, and it's the most balanced book I've found.

Good's a quagmire out there in Vaccination land.
