He is nearly 8 months old and has never had a fever. I worry. Of course. He HAS been sick, a few times. A head cold every time, sometimes with a cough, sometimes not.

Tell me what to do.

I'd say you're very lucky to have such a healthy baby.

Of course you should worry you're a mom, but think about this, I presume your breastfeeding your baby and all your wonderful milk is protecting him from all the bugs that can do him harm, it's you that's giving him this protection and the proof of how great you are is in that he's not been ill enough to have a fever. It sounds to me as if you're doing a great job and this is typical of a bf baby; not what we, as in western society, have been coerced into believing through a bottlefeeding culture that our babies aren't 'normal' if they haven't had a fever.

ewe + dh = our little lambs + we and have many just : and : life .

I don't think my dd did until she was maybe 4. She's almost 7 now and has never had anything but mild colds. I've always been the same way...some people just don't I suppose.

My dd (6.5 months) had her first fever about 2 weeks ago. She had roseola, which caused the fever. Prior to that she had never been sick. Believe me, I worried a lot more about the fever than I do when she is healthy. Fevers serve a purpose, but no need to worry if your baby is healthy and doesn't have a fever. I am sure you have plenty of other things to worry about.

My 12 month old daughter has never had one either. Breastfeeding is a wonderful think. Consider yourself and your little one fortunate.

I think your baby is doing just fine.

DD is 27 months old and still never had more than a MILD stuffy nose, even when dh or myself were sick. Breast milk is good stuff!

I think that's normal. My 2nd didn't have a fever until she was 2, even though I was not breastfeeding. This one hasn't had a fever and he's 6 1/2 months. I'm not sure why you would worry about your baby being without a fever?

What do you want to do, go out and infect her with something horrible so she gets really sick?

HUH? Why would you worry? You should be very happy. Sounds like a lucky baby (and mom) to me.

Although I think I see why you're worried about needing to worry, you're thinking that maybe your baby is getting sick but not fighting off the infection properly? He's been sick and gotten better, I think that he's just so healthy that his body hasn't needed a fever to help recover.

You've given him a terrific immune system. Just sit back and enjoy.

My baby is 8 months old and hasn't had a fever or been sick either. I just figured we were lucky. No reason to worry.

Is pretty much it. I am probably "projecting" since I am a sickly person, and was a very sickly baby and child, and I want a more carefree life for him.

Glad to know I'm not alone and that it's normal.

DD wasn't sick until she was 10 months old and didn't have a fever until she and DH got food poisoning when she was 14 months. I can count on one hand the number of times she has had a fever and she is four and a half.

My ds was 2.5 before he had a fever and he was formula fed. Can you imagine if he'd been bf? lol. Oh and it lasted for 3 hours with no other symptoms and then disappeared. He's 3.5 now and that happened one other time but that's it. I don't think I'm gonna get so lucky with dd and she is bf :

Rachel, mom to Jake (5/04) and Alexia (7/07) a surprise UC thanks to hypnobabies!
