Arlo is so in love with Finn these days. Its adorable! And Finn is actually really tolerant. I'm starting to see the payoff for having them so close together. They really keep each other occupied and play pretty well, considering Finn is three.

And hanno, Arlo is a skinny little thing too. I was just looking at your pics of Ion, and they seem very close to being the same body type. And when Arlo was sick those couple of weeks, I was getting nervous too, because they just don't seem to have that much to lose. But he has put it back on in no time now that he's feeling better. He will never be rolly polly though!

Mama to Finn (04/05) Arlo (04/07) and Henry (04/10)

Great shorties!

So I was just making lunch, and I hear from the other room the sound of a glass hitting something (not breaking). That's odd I think to myself, since the only place there were any glasses was up on the table, and there is no way Desmond could have climbing up there... So I look through the pass through and who do I see sitting happily on the table playing? Yep Desmond. I couldn't find the camera in time to take pictures so I took him down. After we ate I recreated the scene for everyone's enjoyment though. So here is Desmond and the great table climb.

He used the boon potty we bought him as a step stool to get up tall enough to climb on the dining room chair, and from there it was an easy reach to climb onto the table. I guess I need to move the potty somewhere else now.

The ear thing sucks, I have no clue about what to do once the ear drum has burst sorry.

I bet Hailey looks greatt in her reading glasses, I am always pro glasses (of course wearing them for 29 out of 30 years makes me a bit biased).

If Caroline's birthday is Sunday you probably aren't up for coming out and meeting us at South Mountain Creamery on Saturday. They are having their open house this weekend, so we figured we've drive up Saturday after Gymboree and arrive around 2:30/3pm for awhile.

Sounds like a plan. We figured Saturday made sense since Desmond can nap in the car on the way up so he should be nice and rested when we get there.

Crud. we just got an email about a birthday party I *should* go to on Saturday - two of my friends are turning 30, and they came to my 30th party. I had planned to go, but DH really wants to get started packing since we move out in ~3-4 weeks. So, I went from a fun family outing to packing to party, and now I find out that you all might be going!!!

Oh, Abby is still not a walker, but last night she stood up on her own and took 3 steps. She's ready, but not confident. She has no clear words, but says Dada, and has a noise for dog and has been trying to say fish. In the last few days she has been trying not only to walk, but has been *obsessed* with putting things in a container, closing it, and then opening it to take them out. It is nice because it keeps her very occupied.

Oh, and I have to say I am more and more admiring my 5 yo, Ari. 95% of the time she is helpful with Abby. she is very good at alerting me when Abby is up to no good, and they play happily together for as long as it takes Abby to get into something she shouldn't! It is oh so cute

Happy Birthday Seamus!!! Sorry, I missed your post yesterday lunabelly...

I lied or something. After I posted, she practiced walking and walked from me to Ari several times - maybe 5 steps each time. While she prefers to crawl still, she was laughing the whole time, so I think her confidence is greater.

Go Abby! She'll be running before you know it!

Awww, you should come if you can, but if not life gets busy quickly I've found so I'm sure we'll all meet up again somewhere.

So I tried for WCW shorties tonight, DH had the purchase now button on his screen, but it had logged him out, so they sold out since he couldn't get them with having to log in. They were sold out by the time I got the page loaded, sigh. Oh well, not a huge deal, but we do like the pair of longies we have.

I'm sure we will! If I don't find a house in Columbia we will move in with Mom in Silver Spring, just off 29, and I'm not working this summer! My first summer off since.. 98? I went to Ecuador that summer, but it was for school so maybe it doesn't count.

You know my in-laws live in Silver Spring not that far from 29, we take 29 to get there. I am sure you will find something in Columbia, hopefully fairly soon!

In other news my brother and his girlfriend are moving to Maryland, they aren't sure where yet, but probably Laurel. He has a job interview next Tuesday (he's spending the night here) and he is hopeful about getting the job. His girlfriend just got a job in the area. It will be nice to have him around. They're moving down after they graduate from college towards the end of May. It will be nice to have more family in the area.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I haven't posted pics of Ronan recently. Flickr now has video storage, so I uploaded a vid of Ronan playing his new piano.

And while my babe still seems short (and stout), I cannot believe he's big enough to do this.

One year ago Monday.

Chasing DS since April 2007 and pumping for DD March 2013.

Just a bump to say hello.

Scarlet has taken to shoving large pieces of food in her mouth - thinks it's hilarious! Amazing, she chews it all up and swallows - no choking or gagging - this girl is hungry!

Saw my doctor yesterday, I have pharyngitis and laryngitis so she gave me a week off from work. Yep. I started work 2 weeks ago and only worked 3 days
Now Romi woke up with fever.

Kris: hope Zenon is feeling better, poor thing.

Hanno: did Ion get fatter after his little non eating stint?

Happy birthdays to all the babies I missed!!!

And I'm guessing my gift still hasn't arrived

He'll give me his spoon if I ask for it, hold with two hands if I tell him too, come to us, bring things to people. Sometimes I do wonder if he doesn't know he's human and can talk like us. Communicating with him is very similar to with the animals. We use english and they use body language, gestures and their own language.
Evangeline has a few words, but they're not always consistant or recognizable. Mama, dada, kitty, teddy, bunny, all done, up...that's about it. I think the key to deciphering them is recognizing that they probably are talking, you just don't catch it. They sure do understand more than we give them credit for. I just love how Evangeline goes on and on so sure she is talking with various intonations, but it's all babble. She has the cutest 'ooohhh' when she's delighted or intrigued by something, I need to catch it on camera. It starts low, then pitches high and back low again.
Hanno- don't forget we use body language too- just not that we are always aware of. Although- I don't blame you one bit for not wanting him to talk yet!

This sounds just like Eva too! She's very similar...she does walk but it's not always confidantly, and she takes these short little wobbly steps and goes halfway, before giving in to her wobble. I had to laugh today, though because here she is just learning to walk, and she had gotten a hold of one of my dh's chips, and she's wobbling all the way across the room, eating the chip at the same time! It was so funny- yep, she's a girl. Multi-tasking right from the start!

The worst part is I hadn't realized how popular she has apparently become. I have a gorgeous pair of purple longies that we got last fall and love by her. I got them an hour or so after she had stocked and she still had stuff up 2 and 3 hours later.

On the other hand the stocking reminded me why I hate Hyena cart, I hate stalking things, I have done it before, and it just isn't really fun, I would much rather not have to compete with 2930348 other people to get a pair of shorties.

It is too bad though because her stuff is really cute and works well for us, I just don't think I have the interest to stalk any more.

Haha, WCW are INSANE!!! Everything is gone in a fraction of a second. I had to fight for the past soaker, it was hard. And the other soaker I got because she raffled it off and my name was picked. My one and only longies I bought used. Hyena Cart sucks and I'm kinda glad I decided to go on a diaper buying hyatus cause it was getting to me.

Romi has fever and a bad cough. I just hope my antibodies will count for something and that she won't get it as bad as I did.

Words: she says mama and papa and ça (that) and that's about it. I was so worried about Liam when he didn't have a great vocabulary by 18months (did the whole early intervention thing) that I decided not to worry this time around. She knows how to communicate, and that's all that matters. To me.
ETA: your pictures are so cute!!! I love the one of them together, priceless.

Anika: I see the relationship between Romi and Liam finally starting to blossom. It's not perfect by far, but I see the cutest glimpses of complicity that just makes me sooooo happy. Yesterday the kids were in the yard and liam came in the living room to get a toy for romi. I saw him from the window running out and giving her the toy and her face just lit up when she saw him come back outside towards her.

Can I just feel sorry for myself for a minute?
It seems like every since Romi's in daycare, I've lost my connection with her... Like she and I are not the team we used to be I'm so heartbroken and I know it's probably silly and I'm crying while I'm typing this up, which makes me feel even more pathetic, but I feel like I've lost my daughter... She comes home and all she does is cry when she sees me and I know it's cause she just wants to nurse, and yet I wish she'd want to interact with me as well... Not just on that one level. Cry & nurse. And if I'm hiding somewhere she's prefectly happy. As soon as she sees me, it all changes. I miss our days together. I miss our complicity. I miss the quiet moments that are always the defining ones. Now that those are gone, I can't seem to relate to her anymore. I hope this will change. But evenings were never her best time, and now it's all I have left with her. :

Oh doudat I'm so sorry! Is your husband still working? I thought he was taking a leave. Maybe he can take her to see you? Is there no way your office can be more flexible with hours?

Oh and yes, my little guy's ribs aren't quite as visible now. I do worry too much. I worry that if he ever gets sick he has nothing to spare and I fear he'd have to be hospitalized or on IV for something that wouldn't be a big deal for a chubbier kid. I've started testing the waters for reactions to almonds and he's had a few with no ill effects and he loves them. Most of foods he likes are very low calorie (apples, celery, strawberries) so I think if I can dip them in nut and seed butters, maybe he'll gain a little.

I'm so sorry that you are feeling like this. If it makes you feel any better, I am home all day with Desmond and for the past week or so, he has been extremely whiny, clingy and just wants to nurse or climb up on me, whine to be down and then cry as soon as he is down. He is fine if I am not around, or if we are out and about somewhere, but if I am there at home he is acting a lot like Romi. So it might just be a one year old thing that some babies go through.

one of my best friends had her baby today, 3 weeks early! she planned a homebirth but had to transfer at the very end of labor when they realized she was breech. she had her naturally, vaginally after 15 minutes in the hospital! her name is kezia grace and they are both doing great!

, one for each of you. It's a big adjustment for both of you, there will be more defining moments I'm sure. Being sick doesn't help either. Can you wear her more when you're home, just for more closeness, or maybe sleep with fewer clothes on for more skin contact?

Good idea on the nut butters. Can you visit a vegan forum for more ideas on getting good fats into his diet?
