After a recent blood test my Dr. called to tell me my ds has an iron deficiency, and that we should treat it with liquid over the counter iron supplements. I'm not sure if this is the course of action I want to take. Any one else dealing with this or have any info??

i had low iron during pregnancy and was able to get my levels up without supplements. i just ate iron rich foods. google "iron rich foods" and you'll find tons of info on what you might be able to feed baby.

Kellymom has a good section on this that you might find helpful...

http://kellymom.com/nutrition/vitamins/iron.html

Consider what the numbers are and don't panic! Our ped's office (the nurses, not the dr., mind you) had me totally freaked out that he was below 11 when, in truth, he was *just barely* iron deficient. See what you can do with diet before trying a supplement.

Dd was in the same boat...she was EBF and refused solids si we did these drops http://hocks.com/hocks_com_on_line_p...y/2441301.html
They were much better than others b/c it's a clear liquid that does not stain and contains vit C to aid with absorption. I did half a dose 3x/wk and in 6wks she was fine.

Happy Mommy to one amazing girl (6y) and one sweet boy (2y), and wife to DH since 7/03 : :
