Whenever we give my almost 12 month old small pieces of food he will end up pooping them out in their original form. Do they not get digested because he just swallows instead of chewing? Does this happen with your babe?

yes it happens here too, although dd is only 9 mo. I think they're just not getting digested completely. Which might happen too if he did chew them up but if they were chewed or pureed, you wouldn't notice them. No big deal.

Here's a link that really summs up my beliefs and thoughts on good digestion:

http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george&dbid=36

There's tons of great information out there on this topic. I learned about 10 years ago through experience how much my digestion is improved when I focused on chewing my food thoroughly. As it states in this article (and I also believe) that smaller food particles=greater surface area, hence more utilization of nutrients, also just alot easier on the digestive tract. Some say (and I agree) that its the most delicate system in the entire body and proper care of this system leads to overall improved health.
