I’m trying to find all those kind of things (doctors, hair dressers, etc.) in our new neighborhood now that we’ve been here 2 years and it isn’t new anymore. I am resisting so hard and being back in our old neighborhood yesterday really made me want to go back. I suddenly feel like I so don’t belong in this area and am thinking maybe that’s part of my “crisis feeling” lately. DH joked the other day that we should move back and in my usual craziness I took the idea and ran with it – researched apartments and garage rental rates…all that stuff. He looked at me with a and told me, “I was just kidding Jess!” I started . Being back there Saturday I realized I was SO much more comfortable there. It was urban and much more free in terms of lifestyle, ykwim? I feel very out of place these days and am really getting tired of it.
I am sure your hair is adorable and we want pics!!

I was letting my hair grow out from a very short pixie cut and my hairdresser moved! There was another girl in the salon that I wanted to cut my hair but she is booked way out. I made an appt with a 3rd lady as I haven't had my haircut in about a year but I am having second thoughts. She wasn't booked up enough so she must not be very good. There is one other woman I know from a few years ago I am considering or I might just call the Aveda salon.

We are also not where we belong so I know how you feel. (See my location). It is ever present in my everyday. I make the best of it because dh is employed and this is my children's hometown.

Heather I am glad Judah is better and I hope you get some good sleep tonight.

I love a good back carry and have helped so many mommas learn to do so but for some reason I always need help from I or A to get Linus back there and we look so awkward getting him in there (ergo or mt). I have no idea what is wrong - he is old enough isn't he? I only use the ergo on my back but hte mt has always been easier for me to get on back - I just loop the shoulder straps under his arms and swing him over my shoulder like santa w/a sack of toys and tie from there.

You don’t owe them an explanation, just a response.

Mrsb - Yes pictures! I just got something similar to the Vicki B but not so drastic, I kind of just let the hairdresser do what she wanted. I figured that short hair would force me to actually do something with it every day and not leave it in an afro (which is what would happen if I didn't straighten it as short as it is ).

HeatherB - I'm so glad he's doing better, that's so cute about the peek-a-boo!

Mommajb - I have a hard time doing a baby carry also, which is a big reason I got the Beco. That way its kind of like a back pack and I can just lift in on without it being so awkward.

I finally finished the MT for my friend, here's a quick picture. I decided to add a sleeping hood at the last minute and overall I'm pleased with it being my first try at making one:

mommajb I am with you on the hairdresser problems. We used to live in Hoboken (right outside of NYC) and I got into this super-expensive Paul Mitchell salon that I am now in love with. I went there for my wedding and have been driving back, paying an arm and a leg, and loving it but hating that we don’t live there anymore – going back is like a tease. My tattoo artist has a friend who just opened a salon in the next town over so I have an appointment next week for color. I am quite frankly terrified! I feel like my current stylist has a vested interest in my being happy with the cut to keep me coming back, plus he really “gets” me and throws his own spin on everything. If I ever went in with a picture and said I wanted that exact cut he’d probably smack me . I’m so nervous about the new place, but if it is really bad I’ll just truck back to the old digs, go completely broke and get it fixed! As for the back carry…I’m with you there too. I can’t seem to get the hang of it. I mean, we can do it without help, but I look ridiculous trying to get him in there. We have an Ergo and I can’t figure out an easier way to do it. I strap it around my hips. Throw him on my back like a piggy back ride and then loop the arms over each side. It seems to work, but only if he cooperates.

Katie the MT is beautiful!! I : the fabric!!

Ok, pictures…hmm…let me see what I can do

No smiling…what kind of Posh Spice would I be??
The old hair…just for a reference point

These are from yesterday’s photo session at Picture People. I’m not going back until next year. Now that I’m taking so many pictures myself there’s just no point (plus I like mine better!!) Waaaaay too much money to not be in love with them…ykwim?

Hi from the land of hot hot hot humidity hot hot hot you open your front door and the heat sucks life from you hot hot hot hot...

Hi from the land of 4 year olds who don't listen to mama and who won't stop picking up the baby and carrying her around......even though the baby laughs like mad.....

Hi from the land of 4 year olds who try to play peek a boo with their baby sister who thinks it's hilarious but who WRAPS the blanket or whatnot AROUND the head and not just peek a boo.....and then who doesn't listen when you ask them to stop nicely bc you don't want to YELL bc you are NOT a yeller but you resort to YELLING and then feel awful....

Hi from the land of MAYBE single parenthood. Things aren't going well and I have some tough descions to make in the next few months.....things I never thought I would have to think about......It's just heartbreaking......and I feel empty and alone right now.....with a 4 year old who refuses to listen to anything and everything and a 9mo who is just pure joy right now..

LWAB: We're finally full fledged crawling forwards...no more crab crawl, army crawl, backward crawl......all forward...she's been getting around for some time now but just not fully forward......she does tend to tuck one leg under her on the last stride bc it allows her to automatically sit up. She thinks it's the greatest except when she gets too far away from me. I also dug out dd1's old learning table and she's pulled up on that a bunch of times...she loves it and it's a Leapfrog so I don't mind the lady singing. My sister wanted to pick up a 3 legged one from the thrift store but it was very ELMOcentric so I told her to pass....he's like nails on a chalkboard to me.....Now if I can only get her big sister to leave her alone while she plays with it.

Jess: Your hair is soooo cute!! Love the Marty in a box pic. I am not fond of the full body pics either. Lilah has been doing a tongue clicky think for a month or so now and its hilarious.....

Mommaj: I lucked out with my hairdresser...it's just one of those cheapo places but I REALLY needed a haircut 5 years ago and didn't have much $ so I went there. I got the best haircut I'd ever had..turns out she had just left one of the better known salons to manage this place bc it gave her more time at home with her kids.....I need a cut but am going to wait...it's not a top priority money wise these days....

Heather: Happy to hear he's feeling better!!! Peek a boo is so much better when they do it themselves but that just means they are getting bigger tooooooooooooooooooo fast.

Back Carries: I have been using an Onbu for when we go out for any length of time. She loves it. I need to work on getting her a tad higher though.

Bathrooms: I HATE having them both upstairs......luckily when it's potty time, I always keep a small potty in the family room regardless of where the potty is so that should help. DD1 started wanting to sit on a potty around 14 months so it's coming up WAY fast than I would like...

Solids: We mash up with forks or put what is unmashable in our Magic Blender for 3 seconds and she's pretty much eaten everything we have eaten. She still has a funny spotty reaction to peas and chickpeas though so we are still holding off on those. She still nurses more than she gets solids.......and that's fine with me as long as she is growing ok.....We went to a Hibachi grill this weekend with a friend who was in from out of town for lunch. It was so cheap for lunch....$7 with drink...and sooo good. I ordered Lilah some veggies and the other ppl at the table (bc you share it with others) were just like, "for her?? she's too little...." etc....the cook happily made them for her....and she happily fed them to herself......much to the other women at the tables chargin. I was like hahahahhaha.....

Well, I think she is done with her toy....and is fussing. I need to make some lunch for her sister and myself, nurse her and unpack a bit more....

I'll check in later on.....

MrsB - love your hair , you look so gorgeous! and i like all of the professional pictures, too.

salons - about two years ago i went to a local place and got about 12 inches off. it was a total hack job. so i went to a salon in reno (about 1 1/2 hours away). the girl did a really good job. i still go to her, although she has changed salons. i don't go very often, though. i went in march, and the time before that was like may (10 months prior). it's really hard, because dh has to go too. and now she's pg and only working two days a week (luckily one is a saturday). she's planning to go back to work after babe is born, but sometimes things change. she also cuts my kids' hair, if she has time after my appointment, and charges what they'd charge at a supercuts. she likes to play with their hair, and likes to straightiron it when she's done, which ds won't let her do, but dd1 did. a two year old with flatironed hair! cracks me up! it looked really good, though! i tell her how long i want my hair, and let her do what she will.

solids - jamison loves blueberry pancakes! i didn't know a little stomach could hold so much pancake. i'm dreading the diaper, though.

sunshine - is it hot there? i'm sorry things are so tough for you right now. i hope everythings works out for the best, and in the easiest way possible for you.

jeanine: just a little hot...

so, i go to pick up the boppy to wash the cover bc it's covered in sweetpotatoslobber and it's WET...so i think to myself that maybe dd1 spilled something on it....nevermind the fact that it's on the BOTTOM of the cover...and as i pick up what's in that corner of the living room, it's all SOPPING WET...even the carpet..So I squish my foot on the carpet and water seeps up...SERIOUSLY????? Our dryer isn't working either......now I have to rewash all the prefolds.....

I need a vacay or a weekend at a beach. Who wants to come?? Where is that money tree???

I love you guys. I really do....

sunshine Oh no, mama…. I’ll PM you in a minute. I’m so sorry. We did hibachi last weekend and it was awesome!! DS loved it so much and everyone was really impressed by how much he ate. Let me know when you find the money tree so I can steal some seeds and plant one here!! See ya’ at the beach!! As usual, Queen Margarita will bring the Jose Cuervo

jeanine on the blueberry pancakes…DS loves blueberries more than anything!! I swear he’d turn blue if I let him eat as many as he’d like.

So DS and I just got back from Target…I finally broke down and bought all those stupid safety latches for my kitchen cabinets and a squishy corner thing for our TV table. He came so close to whacking the soft part on the back of his head yesterday that I finally gave in. My mom never did any of that stuff and I never got hurt…WTH is wrong with me??? Anyway, we made a pit stop and had some chicken fingers in the little Target food court. I love those moments more than anything in the world! He sat on my lap, ate little bites of chicken and tried to drink out of my cup of water. It was wonderful and I was the envy of every mom with squirmy kids eating there!! Hee hee! He’s such a good boy.

It was all promptly ruined though when I walked down the aisle with him and some guy was staring at me. His wife very loudly said, “Do you KNOW her or something?!” When he said no, she said, “Then stop staring at her you : pig!” Just the kind of thing you want to hear when you’re enjoying a simple errand with your 11 month old…so classy, really, I hope I can be like that one day NOT!!! Some people!

Thank you all for the hair compliments…that really is nice to hear. I was in love when I was in the chair, then as I drove home I started to get apprehensive. As I sat on the sofa last night and felt the back of my bare neck I got a little panicky. You ladies make it all better though…

So I call DH to tell him we got the notice our stimulus check should be coming by the 15th. That turns into him telling me he looked into some condos in our old neighborhood. I told him to stop teasing me. WTH???!!! I swear. Now it is just cruel :

Oooh, Mrsb you're such a hottie! Marty is so cute in his pictures! These days I would have probably taken the Target situation as a compliment

Sunshine - I'm so sorry you're having hard times, I hope you are able to find some answers soon.

Jeanine - Oooh I want some blueberry pancakes! I will have to try those with Liam.

So sleep last night was really strange with Liam. He went to bed around 9 and didn't wake up again until after midnight, then didn't wake up again until after 3am. Usually after midnight he wakes up every hour. Sometime in there he must have woken up again but he didn't official get up until 7:30, and then went back to sleep with me from 8-10! I don't know if he was catching up on lost sleep or what. Of course it would all be a lot easier if I didn't go to bed at 2am every night but I'm a night owl.

I never, ever get hit on... Not a bad thing, but the truth. DH gets lots of attention from a variety of younger girls and women at church because he's the sound guy... Though I don't think there's anything flirtatious about. But, anyway. At least DH posted a really nice post on his blog about me today. The pics he posted are a couple months old and I don't really like 'em... but if HE likes them, that's good, right? It was the end of a hot and windy day at the park, but at least Judah's cute. http://www.jeremey.com/

Too bad he's not always like that. We did have a nice time that night, though. It was an event that was all about "his" people and interests, so I was glad he invited me to go, and it was nice to see the place and meet the people. And of course everyone adored Judah. Even talked with one couple at some length about home birth!

Being the first time to meet these people, there was definitely effort put in to looking nice and making a good impression, and it was so sweet to find his post today! I figured any blogging today would be about new Apple announcements, but was pleasantly surprised.

I just peeked in Judah's mouth and can see the outlines of top incisors... Oh I hope they wait a while! The top teeth were pretty rough on us (and moreover the accompanying viral infections!).

Heather you look great! Your dh is sweet. Judah is a doll and I am so glad he is feeling better.

Mrsb your hair is darling. I chopped all my hair off too but it is even shorter than that. I will get some pix asap but my camera isn't speaking to my computer so I have to wait until dh can figure that out.

Sunshine you need a vacation!!! I am so sorry it just keeps coming at you. I hope it gets better very soon.

Katie great work on both carriers. You and Liam are so cute together.

Jeanine glad Jamison is alright. We have had lots of dented heads around here. They always heal up way quicker than they seem like they should.

I haven't gotten hit on in a long time. Some old man did give me the eye the other day but that just made me a little sad. He was nice looking but seriously old like 70. Jeez!

Event planning ~ I plan to do a bit of everything at first so I can decide what I like best. I keep fantasizing about wedding ideas so i know I want to do some weddings but would love to do parties and corporate/educational events as well. I don't have any experience doing it but know that I have the traits that are needed so I am going to give it a try. Most people are seriously disorganized and unable to plan so I know I can help. If I can bring in some extra money all the better because the co-ops are killing me!
I am doing TONS of reading and research and planning so I hope it comes together quickly because I really want our finances to go smoother.

LWAB ~ Dahlia crawls really fast in a combat crawl and is now starting to rock on all fours and should probably figure that style out really soon. She is beginning to pull herself up onto things. She is finally getting into solids (well semi-solid) and is demanding to be fed at least once a day. She is so cute and sweet and easy going. I finally have an easy baby and I see what all the fuss is about. She fell asleep in about 3 minutes in my arms today. I rocked her and sang to her and she went out. She has been sleeping now in the pack n play almost 2 hours. Not her usual but she seems to be building up to one big nap in the middle of the day.

She has 3 teeth now and is teething so badly try to pop through the other top front tooth. It is swollen and red with a line of tooth. I hope it pops through soon because I can tell she is in pain.

Eavan is almost out of school but suddenly his behavior is a bit easier to deal with so I am hoping summer won't be too miserable. I hate to say that but we just struggle so much when we are home together all day. Our personalities are very different. At least I have school to look forward to in the fall. They are doing a bunch of construction to make his school even cooler. Sometimes I feel like I should pinch myself because this place is so great. I got so lucky and count my blessings every day.

I am going back to reading books about event planning!

i would like to be hit on once in a very great while, by a reasonable man (not 70 .) although i'm sure it would bug me if it happened too much.

your dh is sooo sweet!

oh, speaking of reasonable men:
about ten years ago, my dad knew this homeless man. my dad would give him a little money, chat with him etc. sometimes i'd see him too, if i was with my dad. well one day, he asked my dad if he could take me out to the movies i don't think my dad has seen him for a while, i think he moved. but he always asked about me and dh and the kids once they existed. nice guy. but come on, what are you doing? saving up the money my dad gives you so you can take me out?

Katie-oooh I like both of them especially the pouch. I so wish I knew how to sew. I am around sample sewing and clothing manufacturing...bolts and bolts of fabric all day long and I can't sew a straight seam....I have tried.:

MrsB-I love the haircut...very cute. The family pics are nice and Marty is adorable...I can't believe how fast they are growing. OMG regarding the episode at Target....yikes.

Sunshine-I hear ya with the humidity....it is hot...humid...and hot here already; however it did rain this afternoon and cooled off quite a bit. Mama with all that is going on right now. Count me in for the beach.

HeatherB-what a sweetheart hubbie...you look lovely in the pic.

back later...Miss Lucy is 'awakin'

Nobody hits on me anymore. Nobody cards me for anything anymore. My kids think I am the meanest ever because I didn't let them run through the sprinkler when I watered the garden tonight. H (age 5) was talking back to me all pointy-fingered and with her hand on her hip telling me that I was going to cut her hair tonight no matter what and she wasn't going to take a shower and.... She was sent to bed instead of running through the sprinkler. I think she fell asleep within about 2 seconds. Everyone else is finally in after a late night of spotlight tag and water balloons in the slingshot.

Mrsb422, very cute haircut and family.

Heather you are adorable and have a sweet man.

Lactivist, do you have a problem with dating homeless men?

Sunshine, everything looks a bit better with some sleep, coffee and a cooling rainstorm. Ours is scheduled for tomorrow so I hope you get yours soon. This move seems to have been a tough one for you, bringing up all sorts of other issues. Feel free to pm me if you want even if it is just to tell me to butt out. I wanted to say more but it sounded so presumptuous.

Sweet Texas, what do yo do? I think all I remember is that you travel with Lucy.

I had the best chocolate bar this weekend. Dagoba organic dark chocolate with lavender and blueberries. It was only 59% chocolate and I usually prefer a little more but this was divine and I think I have a new addiction.

You don’t owe them an explanation, just a response.

mommajb-I am a women's clothing designer/manufacturer....see you would think I would know how to sew....but nope...not at all. But I get to pick out gorgeous fabrics all the time and have them made into garments, but it is not the same as being able to make it yourself. I am so envious of those that can sit down with a pattern and make something.

Okay, so we have all been talking about our LO's with bumps and bruises. Well on Friday I went out to dinner with my parents and I was sitting in the backseat with Lucy and my Dad came around to get her out of the carseat so I unhooked her as my Dad opened the door. I figured he had her....Right? I reached down to get my diaper bag as I see her topple out of the carseat onto the floor of the car as I hollered at my poor Dad. She cried for about 15 seconds and didn't even have a visible bump, but we were all shaken. Lesson learned....do not unhook child....person that is taking babe out of the carseat can do it themselves. I just felt awful for letting her fall and then awful for yelling at my Dad.

Okay so fast forward to Sunday. I sitting in study which is right outside my bedroom where Lucy is taking a nap in our bed. I have the door cracked so I can hear her when she starts to wake up. She makes a yawny-stretching noise and I get up to go get her and then I hear a thump and then her screaming...she crawled right off the bed. I was right outside the door....geez!!! My bed is a platform bed low to the ground so she didn't fall far....but my poor kiddo. I feel like the worst Mom. You all should see how I am walking around with her now. I am afraid I am going to walk her into a wall or something. No events today so far...

One more thing.....my hair will not stop falling out!! My sister said hers stopped at 9 months and that is what I am holding out for because it is just gross and I am tired of it. I need a haircut so bad too but I still haven't found a hairdresser that I like in Dallas. I moved here from Austin 6-7 years ago and I still try to get my haircut when I am visiting my sister in Austin. Ugh.

Okay enough venting...I am off to bed before Miss Lucy decides to wake back up.

Thanks for the sweet comments, mamas! :

jeanine: Yeah, something makes me think there wasn't much of a future for you with him!

sunshine: You are so right that they are getting big TOO fast! It's amazing how in motherhood you can be so excited about the new skills and milestones that you can forget in the moment that it means they're growing up. Sniff! My little guy is so NOT little anymore! I hope things get easier for you soon. Did you find out where the water came from?

SweetTexas: I so hate it when they fall! Judah took a header off the bed the other night... and ours is not a platform, but rather high. : DH was sleeping and I gave Judah to him while I ran to the bathroom, but in the midst of that our 3yo needed something... so while I'm across the house, I hear the thud and scream... and of course DH waking up, mad (at me?) that he's just let the baby fall off the bed, even though when I left him he had a hand on the baby. Anyhow, they do manage to survive these things with remarkable resiliency! Clothing designer? That sounds like so much fun! You must tell more! I was laughing today with another babywearing mama about shopping for fabric (for slings and such) but NOT being able to sew! (I admit I haven't tried in years, but it's not as though I have plans to use the gorgeous fabrics I have stacked up...)

mommajb: Dagoba is incredible!! I remember the first bars of their chocolate my DH found in a little cafe/store in a tiny town in Northern California... Mmm.... It was amazing! I've had opportunity to stock up in bulk buys here and there and it's hard to give it away! Though I don't think I've ever tried the lavender bar. I can't remember now if it was that one or the chai that got the company started in the first place.

So DH has this idea that I should start seriously blogging. I have blogged a bit more recently, with some intentionality but mostly randomly. If I do this (and I think I want to), I'll start blogging on a regular basis about parenting-related topics, natural living, etc. It's stuff I'm passionate about and would love to have a non-confrontational outlet to share in and reach more people (even "real" friends), so it really appeals. And it's nice to have DH acknowledging what I'm about and supporting me in sharing it. He's definitely on a good run here lately.

Heather, I think a blog is a great idea. I emailed my mom frequently when we lived overseas and I wish I had access to those notes. They chronicled the early years for my two oldest children and how I grew during that time. At one point she was going to print and bind them as a journal and then predictably enough life got in the way. I wish I had that now (though it doesn't motivate me to do it for myself going forward).

You don’t owe them an explanation, just a response.

Tired today.

Went out for a beer and nachos with a friend of mine. There is a pub on property here. It's nice but way pricey. Like I wanna pay $5 for a pint of Stella...So, I just got a ****** light and ate some nachos...It was nice to be out. They have a sand volleyball court and before it got busy we went down and put our feet in the sand. So nice...it was warm and toasty....as close to the beach as I am gonna get anytime soon besides our virtual one. My head hurts a bit this morning and I can't decide if it's from the 2 beers, lack of sleep or just everything all together. I just took 2 excedrin though so it should be on it's way out.

Lilah is still sleeping. DD1 woke her up on her way to bed last night and it was like she had had a nap and was RECHARGED and ready to go go go WIDE AWAKE and wanting to play......So, we played and rocked and about 2 hours after I got home, she nursed to sleep for a few minutes. And is still sleeping.

DSD's mom will be here in soon..she's actually late but whatever. DSD is out of school for the summer and even though Monday and Tuesday's are our days to have her her mom is still gonna come and pick her up like if she was in school and bring her back at dinnertime. I think it's crazy but whatever. If that's what she wants to do and they have agreed on it, what's it to me. I just don't think that the relationship btwn dsd and dd1 is going to get any better if she's not here when she doesn't have school. They don't have a formal court ordered custody order so....at least it's amicable btwn them enough to do something like this and I can't complain bc it will take some stress off of me to not have them fighting like cats and dogs all day........

Heather: The water was coming from our neighbor's A/C unit. It had a hole in the hose and had been slowly leaking into our place. We didn't notice it bc the speaker lays there and it's where I store the Boppy and the Spongebob pillow dd1 got me as a gift at the thrift store last week. We weren't able to move the entertainment center thing last night either so it's still wet under there a bit. The maintence guy said that he fixed it and it should be ok but if it's still pretty wet to call and he'd find the time to come back out. He was surprised that I didn't have our A/C running full throtle and I told him, " I lived in SW Florida for years. This is hot hot hot and annoying but not hot enough for me to turn on the A/C for the year since it will prolly be in the mid 70s the rest of the week...." LOL....It's still wet so I am gonna have to call in a few.....

Dryer: Our dryer isn't working either....I think I may have mentioned that. I have a weeks worth of laundry and all my prefolds that need washed or have been washed and just didn't dry right so need rewashed bc they smell so musty.....sniff sniff....All that prep for my GMD Reds.......sniff sniff....all musty. I asked the guy about it yesterday and he said that the priority right now was the water issues and A/C issues bc it has been so hot. I told him my priority was clean clothes and diapers for the baby. I've been squeezing her into her infant prefolds and the one lone cover that's clean. If she didn't have such a snooty butt I'd toss her in some sposies but they make her butt break out so bad......snooty butt. I just wanna wash some clothes and dry them. There isn't anywhere here for a line either...poop. I seriously think that they need more than 2 maintenance people for an 800 unit place....

Jess: Are you in the area on the coast with the 100+ temps?? I am sooo going to stop complaining about the heat after watching the news this morning. We had a good rain last night...loud and productive...it's only 64 out now and so nice. I opened some windows.......

Mommaj: I'll pm ya in a bit when I have some time. I need this headache to go away before I do anything else today and hopefully before babe is up for the day.....Oy....I have some notes and such like that that I didn't save from when my first was little. I'd so love to have them now. I am not as good as keeping up with this babe as I was with the first who's baby book is brimming with info and daily notes in the calender of her first year, even if it's just a few words....Poor second kiddo....

SweetTx: Aw, don't be so hard on yourself. I did that with dd1 when she was about 6 months old. I thought I had her strapped in her carseat and picked it up and she fell on the floor....about a foot. I felt awful and didn't want to leave the house to go to the family function......Sounds like you have a pretty neat job. I sew but only if there are under 10 pattern pieces and only children's clothing....I'd love to sew some things for myself but I'm btwn sizes on most things and I am not good with adjusting the patterns.....not good at all...

Ok, that's all my brain is good for right now. Pounding behind my eyes. I think it's the weather more than anything else as I have sat here and thought about it. Hot hot hot to cool to rain rain rain to dry dry dry....I wish it would just make up it's mind already. Gonna go lay on the sofa before L wakes up.....Would love some coffee but I'm pretty sure the coffee maker didn't make the move for some reason as I can't find it....

Sunshine - I'm glad you were able to get out for a little while and have a break.

Today I am 22 years old. A year ago today I was hugely pregnant. Hard to believe. Andrew got me a cake which I am very much looking forward to tonight : Other than that just a quiet night at home but that's alright with me.

The LWAB thread for Aug/Sept moms thinking of conceiving again got me thinking. I really don't know what to do. We know we have a deployment coming up, we just don't know when. Once we find out we have a few options, but the likelihood of it being during our planned TTC time next year is very high. One option, which seems kind of strange but plausible, is to save some swimmers and do IVI at home. There is one military mama that I know of on here doing this now. The other option would be to try after the deployment, but heaven forbid something happens while he's deployed. We could also try during his leave time, but its hard to plan conception during 2 weeks of leave. The other option would be to try before his deployment, but definitely NOT before Liam's first birthday. I don't have a problem being pregnant alone and birthing without him so that isn't an issue. I'm really stuck, and deployments suck. WWYD?

Katie Happy Birthday! You are so young! Makes me feel like a geezer. I am not sure what I would do in your situation. I think I would probably just start getting busy after Liam's first birthday but it's so hard to say what is the perfect solution. I hope you are able to figure it out.

Sunshine I think Dahlia was on that same wavelength last night. She was up and ready to party. I was so exhausted. She finally went down about 1am. I used to be a nightowl now I am just plain old!

This is Eavan's last week in school. I hope we have a good summer. He seemed to have turned a corner this week and was easier to deal with then this morning he totally snapped before school. I just don't get him.

Still no fourth tooth here. I wish it would pop through quickly I can't stand these late night much longer.

Wendi

Happy (belated!) birthday, Katie! Got any leftover cake you wanna send my way? :

We had Lucy's 9 month WBV, she's 29 3/4" long but only 17 lbs 14 oz! I weighed her a couple weeks ago at 17 lbs 13 oz, but I'm using a little postal scale and a laundry basket to weigh her at home, lol, so maybe not the most accurate method. This appointment was just with the NP, not the ped, but I'm still in awe over how relaxed they are about the vaccine issue! Like, "Okay, she's not having any vaccinations today?" ("No.") "Are you planning to do them at all?" ("No.") "Okay! Let's get her height and weight!" She's still "on her growth curve" but has dropped from 70th percentile to 32nd percentile in weight from her 6 month to now. I'm not worried, but of course the NP starts talking about how "breastmilk isn't very fatty" and we should try to add fat to her diet, like butter or yogurt. I'm not giving her dairy for a while now, with the allergies in the family and the rash on her face (which went away until I stupidly caved and had a glass of milk with cookies!), and I'd rather make sure she nurses more or eats things like avocado (which we haven't done yet, for some reason, even though it's been on my list since we started solids!).

Anyway, that's that. She had a cold for a week and wouldn't nurse a whole lot and wasn't really interested in solids at that point, so I wouldn't be surprised if she lost a bit of weight in the past couple weeks. She's picked up so much with solids lately and is still nursing all the time, so I'm not too concerned! Of course, now I feel like I'm coming down with another cold, UGH. The lack of sleep is really wearing me down. Anyone have any awesome immune boosting tips for me?

Rachel, mama to Lucy, born 9.9.07, and Caroline, born 2.25.10!

Morning.

Been stuck in the bathroom all day with a darn UTI...darn things....want to use other choice words but I am pretty sure they are a UA Violation here. I called my MW office and they need to see me. I was like REALLY? SERIOUSLY?? If you look at my chart there on the computer, I get them all the time. UGH. I took some OTC stuff for it and it's not as bad now and I think I'll be able to make it to my appt at 545 but geez......They are gonna want a sample to test and I was like good luck buddy....LMAO. My old MW would've just called something in for me but she left to be a staff midwife at the new hospital so...and the one that walked in as I was catching Lilah at the hospital is out on maternity leave so it leaves the 2 OB's...jerks. I had to go in when I had that Mastitis a bit ago even though I had all the classic symptoms including the red streaks. The last thing I need right now though is a $65 bill from their office.....poop poop poop.

On a happy note...DH and I had a talk.....not much of one but it's a start. So we'll see what happens. I think he realized how crappy he was but there still isn't an excuse for some of the angry things that came out of his mouth.....I think they were made more angry bc he was all calm when he said them. But it's a start like I said and I'll take it.

DSD's stepdad just came to pick her up a few minutes ago and she'll be gone the next 5 days. They aren't doing anything for father's day so I think I am going to take Dh to lunch at the Hibachi (they gave me a free coupon for dd1's food bc they were so impressed with how well she "behaved" and how polite and sweet she was..guess they don't see it often??) with dd1 and dd2 and then grill out for dinner and have dsd come over then. I know it sounds bad not inviting her to the Hibachi but she won't eat it and last time complained the whole time about not liking any of the food when I know she'll eat some turkey dogs and corn.....no issue. Ya know??? So, I arranged that with her mom this morning....Pretty lucky to be mostly amicable with her.....

KATIE: HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY.....insert all kinds of crazy smilies here. My computer is rejecting them today.....I hope it was nice and you had a bite of birthday cake for me.....YUM. 22 was on of my favorite years!!!!

Ishy: Lucy weighs more than Lilah does....by a full pound....Yay about the practice. I am awaiting issues when I take Lilah in a few weeks for her belated 9 month (i had em weigh her when we went for dd1s 4y appt 2wk ago bc we were there and i was curious...lol) bc we are being pretty selective and our ped and I sat down and wrote out a schedule which she signed, the other ped in the practice signed (she had to get an ok with another one) and I signed saying we agreed to it and all was good....but she is on vacay that week and I hope that the one ped is there to ok it bc the medical assistants can't order the shots. Last time it happened (my ped had a family emergency) the 2 other's wouldn't ok the vax I wanted even though we had that signed paper....It was a royal pain in the ass and she wasn't happy to be called about it.....ugh.......So nice that they all seem to agree at your practice. I think it's funny that it's the men that won't at mine...esp since the one's wife is a head LC at the hospital and they are both very ap friendly...OH well...

Wendi: I was such a nightowl before kids.....I worked from 4p-4a a few nights a week and was perfectly fine with it until about a year or so ago.....I can still stay up late but it's too hard when the 4y gets up at 7am.....She went down really nice last night. Daddy even rocked her which was a first!!! YAY!

Katie: I don't know what I would do in your situation. I think I am tending more to agree with Wendi right now and start as soon as you can after Liam's birthday.....just in case it takes a few cycles.....I love my Spring baby!!! I did see that thread and we've never TTC'd...they've just sorta happened when we were chatting about having one or another....My hormones are so messed up, I got preggo with Lilah last December and hadn't had a cycle since I got preggo with dd1 in July 2003. My MW just figured that my body was gearing up for it.....Do you have a ballpark idea of when deployment may happen?? I'm happy I didn't have to think about that when I was in the Air Force all those years ago.....(hugs)

Heather: YAY blog! I tried it but kept forgetting about it. I am so jealous of a friend of mine's family blog....it's so wonderful and she's so witty at times. Just as she was in college.....LOL

Well, I think the OTC med has kicked in. I wish I got the type that goes away with cranberry......so easy.....

Dh just stopped by to drop off lunch on his way out of town. Just an hour away but he'll be there all afternoon. My belly was just rumbling too......But still, at these nice things don't make up for anything......but it's a start.....

bb in a bit. Lilah is moving around and just stole a piece of her sister's chicken and popped it in her mouth.....and pulled it out and is shredding it with her teeth.....gotta go watch that to be sure she's careful.

I need a nap too....

xoxo's

Thank you for all the birthday wishes! The cake was from coldstone creamery, mmm so good : I have lots left!

Ishy - I would definitely go with the avocado over butter and other fatty things. Plus it good for brain development. We were off on our weight estimates of Liam also because we were weighing him on a digital scale. Our NP suggested taking him to the grocery store and putting him on the produce scale, which is clever.

Sunshine - Ugh on the UTI, I hope that clears up quickly. I'm so terrified of getting one again after I was in the hospital for a kidney infection, it seems like my body never registers a UTI or even a bladder infection. As for deployment, we will know for certain when we find out his unit and our duty station in July, probably toward the end of July. The earliest he could be deployed is October is my rough guess. I know he would be fine with whatever we do, but I just have to decide what I'm okay with.
