I know all babies are different but I would just like to get a general "feel" for when babies start needing less sleep during the day. DD is six months and it seems like she is either needing less sleep during the day or perhaps is able to go longer waking periods. I'm trying to figure out whether to keep trying for two naps/day or only give her one. She's just not acting tired for her morning nap.

Jahmari still takes three naps a day but they are so much shorter than they used to be! I don't get much cooking done during his naps anymore. He made the switch to shorter naps around 5 months.

I don't remember when DS went from three naps to two- maybe 4-5 months? He didn't drop his morning nap until after he turned one. Before that he would take two 1.5 hour naps. We gradually dropped the morning nap when he started staying up longer in the morning.

Does your DD sleep a lot at night?

Well, she was sleeping from 6:30pm - 6:30 am waking up once to breastfeed but lately she's been waking up 2- 5 times/night to eat. And now she doesn't seem to want to nap at all. I know she gets tired though. Perhaps it's a phase that has to do with being mobile. She is now crawling and pulling/pushing herself into a standing position, so maybe she just doesn't want to slow down. It's making me awfully tired lately and I want to be patient and ride it out but I also want to sleep!

When DS was in the process of dropping a nap, he would get very cranky and tired, but refused to sleep. We would try to make sure he had some quiet time everyday so he could rest even though he wasn't sleeping. Maybe see if your DD will let you do something like that? Hopefully this is just a phase she is going through!
