Alexander eats/drinks formula, a variety of baby foods (esp. ones with high calories due to his low weight), bananas mashed, avacado mashed, cooked egg yolk, and Yo-baby yogurt. He ate one Cheerio a couple of days ago but coughed as he swallowed it. He hasn't eaten anymore Cheerios or gotten the opportunity to bc he had surgery on Wednesday. So, I'm just wondering what a typical day for your nine month old babe is like when it comes to food. What are his/her favorites? :

Terran is exclusively breastfed--just not interested in solids yet.

breastfed and has had:

apples
pears
bananas
avocado
grapes
melon
papaya
sweet potato
winter squash-acorn, butternut, and delicata
zucchini
yellow squash
carrots
green beans
kale
peas
spinach
yogurt
organic cheerio-type cereal
puffed kamut
oatmeal
bread crust

Typically she eats when we do. So for breakfast, maybe a yogurt, then veggies for lunch and dinner. If she sees us eating, she wants some too.

Wyatt eats just a few spoons full of banana or pureed apple mixed with expressed breast milk. I've tried to give him sweet potatoes and pears, but he didn't like either one yet. So far he loves banana and likes apple. So far he doesn't like straight food without any milk mixed with it.

Same with my little guy. He tries foods, but doesn't eat them. He has a taste and moves on. We're not concerned.

Have you seen the updated user agreement yet?

Julian eats mostly just breast milk but he has tried

Avocado
Banana
Pear
mashed potatoes (made with breastmilk)
Yogurt
blueberries
cooked apple slices with cinnamon
raw apple (chews on my apple)
carrots
broccoli
cauliflower
chicken
cooked celery (from soup)
chicken soup
egg yolk
cheese (cheddar and Havarti)
grapes
ground beef
Acorn squash
Cantaloupe
peach
nectarine

Pretty much all in chunk form, except the soup and mashed potato and the fruit mostly raw. But he is not super interested in solids, likes to experiment and squish it and taste it, however he loves apple and blueberries he eats solids maybe about 4-5 times a week.

Typical day is as follows:

(these are just approximate times it does vary to a certain degree)

6-7am Breastfeed
8am Solids (Favorites at the moment are weetabix mixed with mashed banana, stage 3 baby cereal or oatmeal with mashed banana) I load the spoon and he grabs and feeds himself
11am Breastfeed
12am Solids - Leftover veggie chunks from evening before and yoghurt, or some bread (likes it plain) and fruit (currently loves watermelon, grapes (peeled and halfed), strawberries, thinly sliced apple, chunks of pear). Also likes crackerbread (low salt) and unsalted rice cakes.
3pm Breastfeed
530pm Dinner with family - usually has what we are having (or part of it - with no salt or sugar). Favourites are boiled carrot chunks, peas (loves these at the moment), corn on cob (cut the cob into smaller pieces and he loves gnawing his way through the corn on it), Potato balls (made with mashed potato and cheddar), CousCous balls made also with some cheese.
7pm Breastfeed

He self feeds all his food. With cereal & yoghurt I load the spoon and he puts it in his mouth. He loves his solids but on some days he hardly has any and on other days he has TONS.

Everything. Literally. There's nothing she doesnt' eat or can't have. She has no teeth, but those aren't important. We don't have allergies, so nothing at all is restricted.

Never purees or jars here, all table foods (self feeding) from 6 months on.

We're big seafood eaters here, so lots and lots of that - crab, perch, shrimp, whatever... every veggie, every fruit, every meat. Bread, pasta, whatever.

The list is shorter of what she hasn't had - uncooked honey. That's all she hasn't had, and per our doc she can really have it now (it's actually around 8 or 9 months that baby is able to battle the potential for bacteria, but "one year" is easier for everyone to follow).

So, yes, EVERYTHING!

SANDRA, 41 year old VERY laid-back mama to VERY free range kids Brett (16), Justus (11), Autumn (4), and Ayla (1)... four perfect NCB's! :::

Another mostly breastmilk here (EBM when I'm at work). But she's increasingly showing interest in eating solid foods. (she's not quite nine months, but will be this month). She LOVES chicken and beef, quite fond of her daddy's homemade applesauce, loves apples too, she also loves watermelon, cucumber, carrot and sometimes banana. We've given her brown rice, avocado, sweet potato but whether or not she likes them is still up in the air. We have been starting to do the "whatever's on our plates" thing with some exception, Mr Toona's quite fond of his sweet fixes, she doesn't get those, as they're mostly pastries.

Her favorite thing hands down next to momma's milk is water. And she seems fond of unsweetened hibiscus tea, which is funny because it is so sour (ohh the face she makes!! but she always wants more), but I'd rather her get used to that than koolaid.

EVERYTHING! (Except dairy - she is allergic to it)

From the start I gave her whatever I was eating and she will eat it all. I just make sure it is small enough or soft enough.

Some of the more favs are:

pork chops
beets
salmon
roast chicken
beans of any kind!
roasted peppers
meatballs
avacados
pastas

Like SandraS he list of things she hasn't had is shorter:
dairy
nuts
seafood (though she has had fish OUT OF seafood stew - so it has been 'cross contaminated')
honey
