My little guy is 10 weeks old. Only breastfed, no pumping. He has become quite a perdictable sleeper and feeder. Could I go somewhere in the evenings after ds is sleeping for the night? This came up last night, I could have gone to the fireworks with dd and my mom would have stayed with ds. It seemed too strange at the time though to leave my little baby.
So I was thinking if I took the cell phone I could be home in 10 minutes IF he happened to wake up. The thing is he doesn't wake in the early evening but I'm just worried he would when I'm gone. Or could I relax and enjoying going grocery shopping or doing a yoga class after dinner. Dh has had little time alone with ds. Well actually pretty much none.
Ds goes to bed around 7 and doesn't wake until 11:30 or later. This is all new to me as dd never fell asleep this early for the night until now and she is 3 1/2.
What are your experiences with this?

My DD2 and DD3 were really predictable sleepers at an early age until about 5 months old, when they started to wake up anywhere from 1 to 3 hours after they were put down. I realized this with my third baby that we had this window of opportunity to go out (after bedtime) when she was under 5 months of age. We went out every few weekends for a few months and just like her sister before her, at 5 months old she's been waking up unpredictibly after bedtime. So now I stay home, or if I go out it's an hour max, with cell phone beside me.

So, IMO, if you're up to it and want to go out, take advantage of the time!

FWIW, my DD1 was not predictable at all. She was colicky and refluxing so there was no way to predict her sleep pattern. There was no way I was going out of the house without her ever. And I was perfectly fine with that, preferred it in fact. But with the predictable sleepers, I felt quite comfortable going out.

Thanks for that reminder. My first baby went to bed late and then at 5 1/2 months with her first teeth she started waking up at anytime. So I guess I have 3 months. I'll give it a try and see how it feels.

I'd go too, especially if you have a cell phone. It would be great for you to get out and for DH to have a bit of alone time w/ the LO.

If you feel comfortable leaving, you should take some time to yourself!

My DD also doesn't take bottles.

I wasn't comfortable leaving her until she was 12 weeks and at first it was only for 20 minutes at a time. Now I feel comfortable being gone for up to 45 minutes with a cell phone for being on call for sure.

Jenna in love with my DH Jon, loving our 2.5 year old, Caroline Tulip, and expecting another little one in August!

I would try going. My LO wakes any old time. I had one successful dinner out (45 minutes gone) and one very unsuccessful dinner out. Both times my mom was with her. The first time she didn't wake up but the second time she was inconsolable when she realized momma wasn't home. Mom called me and I came home as soon as I could, but LO wailed for 30 minutes.

If she would sleep more predictably I would try it again. I think it is still a few weeks or months away for me...

I would go if I could! For me, it would be a trip to the salon for a massage and facial. Ahh, that sounds so nice!
