Jenn, I'm so guilty. I've been feeling so lousy that I was being lazy about dragging a restless 2yo into our post office. I promise to get them out to you tomorrow (possibly overnight on dh's account ... shoulda thought about that before)

Thanks to the mamas who have kept me posted on their beads. I just wanted to say that if you cannot get your beads in the mail by tomorrow, please let me know and we will go on with the swap without you. I feel like we need a cutoff sometime, because some mamas are getting ready to have their babes, and I still need to have time to ship these back to Canada and the UK (keep that babe in their for awhile, Helen! ).

So if you have already sent, I will be stalking the mail carrier this week. If you cant get to the PO by tomorrow, sorry about that! Hopefully I will get the last of the beads this week and I will turn them around ASAP!

Lets keep these babes in for another couple of weeks, ok?

Jenn, would you be able to double-check that you got mine? Or maybe, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you list the people you have already gotten beads from?

Well, I found out that a couple of mamas I was waiting on had not been able to send their beads, so I will get them all out this afternoon. Sorry it took so long, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to participate that wanted to.

I will let you guys know what I am missing as far as shipping when I get back from the post office today.

The bags of beads look awesome - they are all so different and unique. I really enjoyed sorting through them. It really is like you can feel the energy from each person in the pile of beads!

Sorry for those who did not get them before the birth, but hopefully you can still make something meaningful from them!

OK, Beads have been sent! And because some mamas sent extra postage (it was much cheaper sending back to everyone than it was sending it *to* me) I just used the extra stamps to cover the packages where I did not have postage. I also recycled the envelopes that were sent to me, in cases where I did not have a return envelope.

So as far as I am concerned, no one owes me any additional postage. I am assuming the mamas who sent extra do not want me to send them back a stamp or two, since that would be silly. I would just assume those who did not send postage just pay it forward in another way.

I meant to include a description of everyones beads in with teh packages, but realized I forgot it once they were all sealed up. lol.

So here is a rough guide to who sent what. Some mamas sent notes with their beads, but I figured it would be nice to know who sent the rest as well.

*Amy***dark purple beads
AmyGirl28**heart shaped - purple and blue
Beachbaby**med sized lt blue or green glass
Bensmom**hematite
Betheearth**red, painted
Bucaye**copper w/ silver braid
Flapjack**small turqoise and purple colored glass beads
gossamer**silver roses
Gratefulbambina**peach glass
Kavita**bumpy "wooden" type beads
Kroonkles**clear square glass beads with colored swirls
Mamafern**small blue glass and rock-like amber glass
Meagen**orange "swirly" flat beads
Memorymaker**round, purple w/turquise and silver swirls
Plagio**large yellow, turquoise bead
RainCoastMama**shell bead
Samsmama**moon and stars, purple on one side, flat
SnuggleButter**black w/ butterflies
Soggygranolamomma**large blue or green foil beads
Willemsmamma**silver metal w/ stars & moons on it

LMK if you dont get them soon! The Canada and UK packages should get there in 4-8 days. *fingers crossed*

Thanks! What do I know? I just think they are all so pretty and unique! I meant rock-like as in shape, not round.

OK, if two of you have already received your beads, let me go ahead and post my little "explanation" .

Here are the beads I sent:
www.geocities.com/treesock/redbeads.jpg

I picked hand-painted lampwork beads in all shades of red and with organic or nature-based shapes and designs on them. The dark red base color is to help us embrace the depth of the physical experience we're about to encounter, and to recognize that the female blood was part of how we got here, and will be part of our birthing experiences. The organic shapes -- swirls, flowers, leaves, circles -- are to help us remember to BE organic with our sensations, to be round and open and to move in great, sweeping movements through our contractions and into our births.

All the beads are just a little bit different, too, in recognition of the fact that we will be experiencing birth both in common with all the women past and present and as unique individuals.

And if BTE's putting her explanation on this thread, I might as well too.
Mine are the small green/purple glass ones, which were made by Swarovski. For me, that's significant for two reasons- partly because I spent most of my childhood holidays in Austria and my favourite place in the whole world, EVER is the Christmas department in the Swarovski shop in the Maximilianstrasse in Innsbruck. So you get a little bit of my past there. Then also, there's the fact that they're made of glass, which fascinates me, because it's so strong yet fragile.
The beads themselves remind me of the elder bushes that are surrounding our tiny little house- we have one by every entrance, and in witchcraft and local tradition the elder brings protection- so I'm trying to share the protection of my home. They also remind me of the several dozen blackberries that my sons ate whilst walking down the lane to the bead shop that day, and the colour that their chins turned. (And, of course, the fact that green and purple are my two favourite colours and I use them together as much as possible.)

I got my beads today!!!

They are all so beautiful and special! I got chills, actually, holding them all and reading the little notes, thinking, wow, Plagio (or flapjack, or whomever) actually wrote this and touched this bead and this paper! Having these digital relationships seems so normal in our lives, but actually holding something REAL from each of you made a big impact on me for some reason. I can't wait to string mine and wear it so I can feel your power and energy with me during these last few weeks!!

OK so mine is sort-of an oval shaped very deep purple with swirly gold glitter inside. They are probably plastic, I'm not sure. Maybe they are glass. Anyway, I chose these beads because purple seems to be resonating with me during this pregnancy in a big way. I don't really know anything about the idea of auras, but I have entertained the idea that maybe Brynn has a purple aura. I have been so drawn to it, and it makes me feel calm and energized at the same time.

I am doing Hypnobabies for childbirth preparation, and one of our mental exercises is to create anesthesia throughout our body by either visualizing it or feeling it. Since the very first time I imagined this, my anesthesia has been like deep purple smoke with gold glitter, wrapping itself around my birthing muscles and surrounding my body like silk. So when I saw these beads, they of course seemed like the embodiment of my anesthesia!!

I wanted to send them on to you so that you can have a little bit of my peace, energy, and anesthesia during your birthing time!!

Ever-evolving mama to my beautiful Brynn, and my little dimple-face Noah .

Got my beads Sat. I can hardly wait to string them, maybe later this week. I keep looking at them and thinking how cool it will be to wear the neckless during labor. I want to make a small book with all the descriptions and a photo of the neckless when finished.

It was great to read all the descriptions of the beads. How cool is this gonna be???

Hugs and love to you all!!!
