Has anyone had any experience with you body parts falling asleep all the time? I am having a rought time with this when I sleep. If I am sleeping on my left then my right hand, arm and shoulder fall asleep. When I flip, the other side falls asleep. Also, when I talk on the phone, my hand falls asleep from holding it to my ear. If I sit in one position for too long, my feet fall asleep.

It just seems my body parts falll asleep really easily now (last week). I am 37 weeks today!!!! Yip!

Anyone else have this?

Yes, I had this problem with both pregnancies. I have talked to other women about it too. I am not sure of the cause, but it is very annoying. I'm pretty sure it is normal though. I only have it when I sleep though.

Yeah, I have it with my hands - especially when I'm sleeping, driving or writing. Both the book and my midwife said it's carpal tunnel, which some women get when pregnant - due to fluid accumulation I think.

I woke up the other night on my back, with both arms TOTALLY numb/asleep! It scared the crap outta me!

I think poor circulation is a culprit.

While you're awake, try and get as much movement as possible, stretch, flex your muscles, do yoga if you know some or have a prenatal tape, take walks, get your blood really moving...

It is annoying, but... it's almost over!!

Cynotgirl:
Thanks for the advice on moving more. I really need to be more conscious about gettting up from work every hour and moving for 5-10 minutes. I have my birth ball at work (I sit on it most the day) so I need to incorporate that more.

Your EDD is the day after mine!! We are both so close. I bet you had a Happy Valentines Day 2005. I know we conceived on V-day this year, so you must have been close as well.

Thanks! And I'll get moving!

My right leg frequently takes a snooze while the rest of me is not so lucky...only the right one though. Nerve impingement, apparently.

I've also had a pinched nerve, in my left leg, since about 5 months along - I've just gotten used to my thigh being constantly numb!
