Since taking the castor oil at midnight and the black and blue cohosh tinctures every 30 minutes I finally started having serious cx at about 5am. They are about 5-6 min apart and about 45-60 seconds long and bad enough that I definitely cannot talk through them. I think this is it!

Edited to update:
Contractions fizzled on me after 6 hours. Still having 2-3 an hour but as of last check I only dialated 1cm. Hoping for active labor soon!

Edited again:
Going to schedule an induction at the hospital tomorrow.
http://www.mothering.com/discussions...23#post4225223

Last edit:
Woke up to contractions every 4-5 minutes, getting stronger and closer. I hope I don't jinx it but I'm hoping my threat got things going.

Don't worry. I'm sure you'll be holding your babe long before I ever actually go into labor. Now I don't even have piddly little contractions to speak of. Just...nothing.

I'm sorry, DiD ... did you keep taking the cohoshes after ctx started? When I went into labor, my MW said if after 6 hours (specifically) the ctx stopped, to restart taking the cohoshes; and if after 6 hours I was having ctx w/o any supplementation, that this was my body doing it on its own, but sometimes it needs an extra kick in the pants (as it were). The naturopath said to restart the regimen if the ctx stopped.

Good luck - I know it's so frustrating to wait and wait and wait...

I might try again in the morning but right now I'm so over emotional and burned out I can't handle anything else tonight.

That sounds good ... even the naturopath I consulted with said to stop the cohoshes at bedtime (if nothing happened) and start fresh the next day. Are you doing it for just two hours at a time? (Walk, stimulation, 2 hour break, repeat)?

But if you have the homeopathic versions, it's ok to keep up with them in between the two hour sessions.

I agree with Fern - keeping the momentum going might be key. I know it was for me (but I did have an all-night labor, not what I'd recommend ... start fresh the next morning!).

Oh, honey. FWIW, my midwives have been telling me: third babies are the worst. Call it prodromal labour, or spurious labour, or false labour or whatever else you want- the starting and stopping is meant to be incredibly common, and doesn't mean your baby won't come naturally.

Okay, I did another 4 oz. of castor oil and I will start the black and blue cohoshes in 2 hours. I have another bottle of castor oil waiting just in case things fizzle out again.
If after all this he still doesn't come out I'm going to the hospital to be induced. I can't take this anymore.

I agree - it just seems like forever ... flyingspagettibaby was 18 days extra-cooked! Wait until they MAKE you induce, maybe?

Awww - I'm sorry, I know it's tough. Good luck with the whole thing, maybe you can ask in advance if they'll turn the pit down if ctx get going well enough on their own? Or maybe they'll break your waters first and see if that does it?

DiD...let us know how things go!!! I did my first dose of castor oil yesterday afternoon...UGH! How do you mamas do that more than once??? I ended up going in to be checked b/c of the ctx that I was having, but once again...I'm still only at 2cm. *sigh* I know that I can't keep up the momentum with castor oil. Getting cohoshes today.

Sending you warm and fuzzy labor vibes!!!
