You might want to give Zofran a try if you are not opposed to pharmaceuticals. There was a recent thread about it.

I'll add my name to the list. Sick as a DOG! Tried Unisom, phenagrin (spelled phonetically), ginger, mint, B-6, sea-bands! I've just decided now, this is just to be endured. It was just like this with my son. My goal now is just to hold down my prenatals at least 50% of the time! I'm 7 weeks, 4 days.

i haven't even taken my prenatals for almost 2 weeks now. i have to start taking them again...

Is unisom over the counter? (And I'm assuming safe?). We're flying tomorrow to see a friend in Denver and I'm totally nervous about being sick. My air sickness gets 100x worse when i'm pg.

Anyway, does it knock you out at all? My doc said it was safe to take Dramamine or Benadryl, but I'm nervous about being knocked out while I'm traveling with my DD (3.5). In the past when i've taken Dramamine (before I had kids), I was knocked out to the point of not being able to keep myself awake to transfer flights! Our flight is direct, but still. I don't want to be nodding off waiting for luggage!

Any suggestions?

Unisom is over-the-counter and safe. It is actually an antihistmine, but somehow is supposed to help with ms. I took 25 mg, but broke it in half (get the tablet, not the gel caps) and it did not knock me out. Didn't help, either, though. Good luck to you! Enjoy your trip!

i do the same - take 1/2 of a 25mg tablet (not gel cap) and while it does sometimes make me a bit tired, it definitely doesn't knock me out. i'm also just tired in general so maybe it's not even the unisom making me tired. LOL

i took the unisom the other night and it knocked me out completely AND I felt horrible the next day, completely loopy and lethargic. There is NO WAY I could take it and function as a normal person. But everyone reacts to things differently, I do tend to be pretty sensitive to medications. I didn't really think it helped the nausea much either, in fact the only thing that helps is drinking coke. crazy as it sounds, i am SO not a soda drinker but sipping coke helps a bit.

Unisom is a sleep aid so it probably will make you sleepy.

So I actually went to buy it yesterday or Benadryl and decided not to take it. I talked to the pharmacist and she said the whole point it that it knocks you out so that you don't feel the nausea. She was really adamant that I should NOT take it and travel with a Little (it was actually a little odd).

Anyway, ultimately she's right. There's just no way I can do that and travel with DD and feel comfortable that she's safe. So I'm just going to have to tough it out - ugh. We fly today so think of me and hope I don't puke all over the airplane!

My MW is recommending Nonni Juice to all her moms with nausea these days. She says she has seen a lot of women get relief from it. Worth a try.

hm...my practitioner didn't say anything like that...and it doesn't really knock me out...it really does lessen the nausea for me with very limited fatigue...*shrug*

Just an update - I got so nervous that I went the next morning before our flight and bought some Unisom. I took 1/2 a pill during the flight and for the first time in weeks felt normal!!!! No nausea. It didn't knock me out. I slept a little but was wide awake when DD nudged me for something.

ditto, tried it last night and it ripped my stomach up and I felt loopy today and I still ended up getting IV fluids again today. I swear, if I have to go in one more time i'm telling them to leave the dam thing in! I'm tired of being poked!

Seriously?

Not sure if you saw my post on another thread -

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=283476

- but my doctor recommended an over the counter homepathic remedy that worked nothing less than a miracle for me. I used Cocculus 30c, 3x day until better (2 days in my case) others might find that Nux Vomica 30c works better. Seriously, I am a new person where before I could hardly get off the couch.

Also, if you are flying, try to remember to use the anti-nausea pressure point on your wrist. Inner wrist, two finger widths above where your hand connects to your wrist, betweeen the two tendons. It should feel slightly tender if you get the right spot. Just press on it, it should relieve the nausea almost at once. I had forgotten about this spot until my massage therapist reminded me. She said she used it on a very bad flight. Everyone around her was throwing up and she kept pressing this point and was just about the only person not throwing up. Might be worth a try - if you can get your hands free!

I'm actually trying the Cocculus but I could only get 6x but it does seem to be helping, i'm out of bed today and cleaning a bit and i've been able to take a few bites of food so thats progress! I'm taking it about every 2 hours though.

Seriously?
