Tori started solids earlier than most babies because of her weight gain issue. She was on Gerber Stage 1 foods for a while, then started eating more than one container in each sitting so we put her on Stage 2. She wouldn't eat the baby food vegetables so I bought some real veggies, cooked them, cut them, etc. She LOVES them. Tori has also been eating those Gerber Finger Foods Veggie and Fruit Puffs in corn, sweet potato and banana.

Ok, now she's starting to refuse the baby food. She doesn't want anything to do with food that she doesn't need to chew. Is this just a phase or is she quitting baby food all together? She's only 6 months old, has no teeth. She's also my first so I freak out about everything.

I called my mom about it and she said she might be trying to tell me that she's ready for the next stage. But its kind of early, isn't it?

She knows what the good stuff is!
We aren't going to do baby food at all (Luka still hasn't eaten solids, aside from chili). I also wouldn't give those Gerber puffs, they are like baby junk food IMO. Full of stuff no baby needs. Just give chunks or sticks of soft fruits and veggies.

Amalie did something similar. She ate solids with some enthusiasm for a while at around six to seven months, but then suddenly lost interest and was near exclusively breastfed again for several more months. Maybe the novelty wore off.

DS#1 did the same thing after starting on food at 4 months. IMHO, if she has the coordination to pick up the puffs she probably can pick up bits of bananas, sweet potatoes, etc...

One of the best pieces of advice i ever got was "follow your baby, not a book."

Oh, if you want to try something like the puffs but a bit less nutritionally empty, there's always Veggie Booty

Veggie booty is kind of like the bastard offspring of neon orange cheez puffs and a bowl of spinach... I can eat it by the bag : and even Amalie (who's in a picky phase) asks for it sometimes.

We used to eat a lot of veggie bootie around here! Junk food with only a tinge of junk food guilt! DS loved it until he got tired of it.
