so I went to the ER to get myself checked out. They ended up admitting me b/c I was having regular ctx and in my 35th week.
I had ctx all night long but walked in at 75%, 1 cm and walked out at 75%, 1cm. I have been having ctx since and according to my self-checks, haven't had any cervical change.
So ~ looks like I am in the prolonged "early/pre/promordal labor" phase. Yippee!!
I feel like the QUEEN of prodromal labor, as I've been experiencing it since Christmas day (which I do realize, Tara, is nowhere near your 12 days yet!) I was getting very irritated at it until my mw reminded me that every part of this process has its purpose. In my case, she thinks these many, many contractions have served to move the baby right into position before my cervix begins to dialate. I think she's right, as now the baby is SO low that I am finally having some pelvic discomfort. So, ok, I can accept that. As long as something productive is going on.
Sorry about hitting the deer. That happened to me about ten years ago and it was sad and hard. I am glad you are ok from it.
I'm there too. I've been having something like that for 3 weeks now and although I'm only 37 weeks, I'm so ready for things to actually happen now. So much pelvic pressure, everytime I have a BH or a real ctx (which is sometimes every 5 minutes), I want to pee my pants or bear down! My midwife says that hopefully when I really go into labor, it'll be fairly quick since my body has done so much prep work. I hope she's right!
Oooh, just chiming in from Dec EDDs to say Prodromal labor is a PITA, but man oh man, I'd choose it anytime to result in a great labor!
I had Prodromal labor for a long time this pregnancy and then three days of intense Prodromal labor (still just B/H, but coming more frequently and regular during the night). THEN a wonderful fast really nice hour and half labor.
I'm ALL about Prodromal labor!
Wishing you all beautiful peaceful births when your babe is perfectly ready!
Glad to hear that it can mean shorter actual birthing time!!!! My DH actually reminded me of the same thing ~ "Even if they're not dilating your cervix, they're doing *something*" ~ after I whined of another day of useless ctx! What a wise man!
And I noticed I spelled "prodromal" wrong ~~ my preggo brain got the letters mixed up!
Claire has a point. All that labor does do something for you when the real thing hits. (though as I recall she was singing a different tune when she was experiencing it
) My 12 days sucked the big one BUT when I finally went into labor, for real, it came on like a freight train and it was fast. It was 8 hours but if he'd been positioned better, it would have been far far far shorter.
Namaste, Tara
