I had my first at 29, and went from ft to pt work until I was 32 when I had my second dc and became a sahm.

Had dc #3 at 38. He's 7 now and I'm still a sahm. I have no plans to go back to the career I left.

I taught one year, didn't like it, got married, worked minimal part-time when we moved, was a SAHW for 2 months, got pg, decided getting a job to quit in 7 months was silly, so have been SAH for most of my life out of school!

I was 26 a week before we got married, and was 27 1/2 when I had DD. I love staying at home. I don't miss working outside.

Im 24, have been a SAHM since May. Im not planning on reentering the workforce until all of our children (we plan on having a big family) are out of high school and moving on with their lives. However, you never know, the best laid plans often go arise.

I'm not a SAHM yet, but I plan to be in the summer. I'm 24. Plan to go back to the workforce again for certain, probably part-time from around the time the kid is about 3 & full-time at some later point... But it's all conjecture at this point really!

I have been home since I was 22 when I got pregnant with my first. I am 26 now.

I think younger moms can definitely stay home even if their dh doesn't have a high paying job. It all depends on the sacrifices you are willing to live with while you are young so you can be home with your kids while they are little.

I don't plan on ever going back to work and that is just fine with dh!

I'm an oddball. I graduated (undergrad) with an engineering degree last May when I was 22 and had my son 7 weeks later. None of my friends have kids and probably won't for 10-ish years. I also got married two days after finals sophomore year when I was 21. Dh is the same age. I lived on scholarships before and after getting married.

I got my elem. education degree when I was 21, became a SAHM when I was 22 and have been home for the last 4 years. I am starting my Master's to become a CPM in January and hope to be fully practicing by the time I'm 32 (6 years from now) If it works out the way my dh and I invision it I will homeschool our 4 kids (we have 2 right now) and take one birth a month until he can work from home and then we'll make our schedules as flexible as possible , share the homeschooling and I'll be able to take more births a month.

I became a SAHM at 20, Then I was working F/t with some stints in the work force, some working from home and some in school. Now I am back to being a SAHM at 30 and have been for 2 years(and homeschooling) and will never be returning to the work place. The whole time I worked outside of te home or was in school I was a basket case with anxiety over how others were caring for my children(with good cause though they have been abused by child care providers so I can't even trust the good ones). With my bf and I planning for at least 4 more kids, I will be popping babies out for another decade let alone raising them to adulthhood.

I feel the same as you! Although I met my husband in our 20's we didn't have children until our 40's. By the time I finish staying home with the kids I think I 'll be too old and tired to re-start a career.

I'm 34, and have been at home (except for a brief stint back to work for a few weeks before being laid off) since DS was born when I was 29. I know DH would like me to go back to work once the kids are in school, but frankly I have no desire to do so, although if we are in bad financial straits I will. We are still negotiating having a third child as well.

I've been staying home since a couple months before my 1st baby was born (I turned 23 a week before he was born, I'm 31 now). I hope I always can! I love being at home with my family. If an opportunity comes up that seems good for me to get involved with when the kids are older, I'd be open to that. I could also see that I might always choose to be home, and do more volunteer type things. We're soon to be a foster family, so that will be a new role I'll have in our home.

I'm 23, SAHM to DS. I'm taking an online training course, but I'm tellin' ya, if DH gets a job before I finish and I don't have to "work," I won't work. Not b/c I don't want to, but b/c I'd rather be there for everything my DS does. + we plan to unschool (or rather keep doing so), and it will be good to see his daily progress and to be a part of it. OK sorry--that was a bit of a tangent...

Holy crap---you guys are so young!! AT 42 Ive been a SAHM for 5 years and Im done working. Worked my behind off for 20 years and am so happy to be home being wife and mom. I am blessed to have a dh who strongly supports this and who makes enough money to support the whole crew at a very comfortable lifestyle.

I am 30, and have been a SAHM sice I was 26. I plan to stay one forever, I don't think there is an age where you "should" be going back to work. I am hoping to be able to drive on field trips and volunteer in my kids classrooms when they are in school, so I will only get a job if it's somewhere that I want a discount!

I'm 40, & have been a SAHM for almost 2 years (had 1st DD when I was 38,
2nd DD at 39). I plan to homeschool, so won't be rejoining the salaried workforce any time soon (although there's some things I can do from home that I'd like to explore). In my case, I went to college, got married, & had a career before starting a family.

I'm 22 and became a SAHM since DS was born. I am usually the youngest at any group and tend to feel a little left out at times.

I'll be 30 next month, and I've been SAHMing since I was 24. We homeschool, so I won't be going back to work anytime soon, but if we public-schooled, I suppose I could go back next year, since my youngest would be ready for kindergarten, and here kindy is a full day. I assume I'll be home until I'm 40ish, at least.

I'm 25 and have been a stay at home mom since DS birth, 3 months ago. I am liking it and feel no urge to go back into the paid work force, although I do get a little lonely at times. I would go back part time if our finances really demanded it.

I am not sure how to answer the poll since I cross over two of the categories. I quit to be a SAHM at age 26 with the birth of my first baby. I am currently going back to college and hopefully will graduate with my RN degree when I'm 36. By then my youngest will be in K and I plan to work at least p/t.
