I'm looking for fun new things to do with my kids. I've asked this before, but I only got two lonely responses, and I know there are some fun mamas here with some great ideas. What are your favorite things to do with your kids? I'm looking for all types of ideas--arts & crafts, games, outside & inside play. Let's make a big list!
Let's see my little ones are only 2 and 2 months so my activities are definately geared much younger
Make homemade playdough
Cook from scratch ( he loves getting flour everywhere!)
Coffee filter art work (use coffee filters, color with markers, blend with water)
go to the library
go to the book store
Right now I'm playing Yahtzee with my hubby, 13, 7 and 4.5 year old.
We have been spending the summer:
swimming at the pool
tea parties (I like to do a read aloud from our mini set of Peter Rabbit books)
nature walked (although these have turned into Geocaching hikes)
cooking (I'm trying to have one help a night and the older plan the dinner)
fishing (this is dad's area)
playing with neighbor's kids
day trips (museums, local nature museums, local libraries, zoo)
movie and popcorn night (netflix at home)
I save computer games and the Wii for rainy days or days I'm just braindead.
I'm also trying to be consistent with a little academics, Bible craft, chores and hope to start adding in Spanish words and sentances.
My favorite things to do is just let it happen. Yesterday we had a day like this. The kids played in the sandbox for a long time and got all sandy, wet and yucky but had a blast. I dont know if that was as much fun or the hosing everyone down afterwards was.
"The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly out distances us."
treasure hunt (my kids love them!)
run in the sprinkler
hide n seek
play music and dance or sing
hide n seek
mop and let them slide on the wet floor in socks (my kids used to do this and it got on my nerves and then I just started letting them do it!)
46-year-old single (divorced), self-employed working, home schooling, mommy to:
I have always thought that I would not like my son to have video games as I don't want him sitting in front of the TV all day long etc. He will be 5 this summer and has 4 cousins who live down the road and they have video games. DS has been BEGGING to go and play them but if he's there alone I can't control what games he's playing or how long etc. so I decided to borrow their extra system that they keep at Grandma's house and I have been playing it with DS each day this week and we have SO MUCH FUN! I work from home and feel like I don't get to spend a lot of time with him, just me and him goofing around..so this has been so much fun to play with him!! It's like watching someone's baby and then you get to give it back..LOL
