First of all, I am so so so so sorry for dropping the ball on this.

If you would like to participate, please sign up below.

If your blog has any sort of ads, business-related content, etc, please make sure your blog in your homepage in your User Profile. We can't link to your blog on the boards if it has any advertising, but if it's in your profile as your homepage, people can find it that way. Alternately, if you have a business package here on MDC and your blog is in your signature, people can find it that way.

Once I know who's going first, I'll let you know, and you can PM me a list of questions you have for people checking out your blog. I thought we could loosely model things after the "critique this blog" feature on this site:

I'm just wanting people to let me know if there are spelling mistakes, make suggestions for design/layout, make suggestions for improving "the look" of it.

I'd like some feedback on my content. I'd like suggestions of technical things that will give it some flair.

My blog is in my siggy. It's very new, not a lot of content yet.

ETA..oh and I want to learn how to make categories..see that's one of the techical things I need help with..thanks PJ's mama...

I love the picture on my heading, it's looking out the cove behind the house where I grew up, my favourite place in the whole world, I dream of building a house there..I have tried every colour pretty much..the white is the brightests...is there anyway I can keep my pic and have a better font colour...

Sign me up!

I wouldn't mind participating, although my blog is kind of piecemeal at the moment. I had some older blogs that I combined into this current one, so there are several styles. Sometimes I've written a lot (perhaps too much) and sometimes barely anything. Sometimes it's written for my own personal memories and other times I've written as if for an audience.

However, having kept those in mind... I suppose I'd like some input as to how it's been going for the past month or so. I think I've finally figured out what direction I would like to take it in, and I'm just not sure if it's too wordy or abstract or what.

(Blog is in siggy as well.)

all girls,
Two things stood out to me

1. I like to see categories on a blog. For example seasons, crafts, health, about me, etc.
That way if I like a post, I may see what you have to say on other topics, but I don't want to wade through everything else.

2. The white writing on your header is a little hard to read.

Perhaps you'd like to put something about how you came up with your name somewhere on the front page?

Breeze - I've been reading your blog and I think you have some good things going on, definitely. My favorite post of yours is the one about seeing the roses. I think it really plays to your strength of presenting vivid imagery.

Champagne Blossom I see you have categories!:

Your design is very pretty, the only thing (could be my monitor) the darker pink header doesn't look as peaceful as the design).

Also, correct me if I'm wrong! But I thought I saw a few times where you used stock photos or photos off someone's blog. If so be very careful, some people get very upset about that and especially if they are from any sort of business.

I have contacted bloggers and asked if I could use their photo and so far have been told yes.

morguefile dot com is a good place to find royalty free photos.

The stock photos thing, yeah... I actually used to work with copywriting images for a publishing company so I definitely know how crazy that can get. I guess when I started doing this I got into the habit of sometimes-asking-sometimes-not because I tend to assume no one is really going to be looking at it much but myself, and if anyone got upset I would of course credit them. All text is credit, but photos I'm not so great about. If I like an image I'll save it on my computer, and then later on if I have a relevant topic I'll upload the image. But you're right, that's probably not the best idea... But shoot, there are so many pretty photos I do like.

Well as long as you know

I'm a "bit" of a photgrapher myself--still learning. And I've seen the photographer wrath when someone uses their photos;0!not pretty;0!)

**Not me;0! I've just seen it on forums.

I'm mainly looking for critique on my layout. I have a widescreen monitor so I have no idea how it displays. However if you have other suggestions, please let me know.

My blog is in my profile, since I have sponsors.

Sign me up too. My blog is on my profile. Either find it through my home page website or in the about me section. It's a paid blog for a magazine - so I don't have control over the layout.
Thanks!!

I'll sign up. I have three blogs. One is just about me, one about maternity care choice and one about ecological issues. The last two are pretty new so not much content but I welcome any and all constructive critiques. Don't just tell me they suck, tell me why

I have plans on starting one today. Can I sign up too?

My questions:

1. Do entries read easily?
2. Is it a topic that interests you?
3. Do you usually read "About" page, and what do you think about information posted there: too much, too little, too boring, etc.
4. What about layout? Easy/hard to follow.
5. Do you personally like the look?
6. ANY recommendations for improvement are welcome.

New endeavor coming soon...

Sign me up too please.

My blog is We Don't Buy It. I write about our family's challenge to try to only buy used things, our unschooling adventures, my thoughts about politics, food, life...

Crunchy check list:  2 homebirths (one accidental UC!), co-slept, no CIO, cloth diapers, home/un school, raw milk drinker (!) I am a walking cliche!! I even blog and knit...

my blog is in my sig

my questions...

...is my content enough to get return visits? or just new ones?

...am I too all over the place? or is a good mix of 'everyday' stuff?

...is my writing ok? I don't really edit it to death, just let it roll off my fingers and publish it.

...any suggestions/comments/tips/advice/whatnot anyone wants to toss out, I'm all ears

I started my blog to make a 'brand' of my name so that, in the even that I publish a book, some people out there would have heard of me and anyone looking for me would easily find me - something I heard about doing at a writer's meeting. I'd love to make money off of it, but I don't see how... I just love to write and when I hear that someone likes what I've written it gives me such a boost to keep going with my novel/editing...

I totally lost this thread. : But I found it again! :

So, let me make a list of participants and put it in the OP. Then I'll PM whoever is first and they can send me a list of questions, and I'll start a new thread. Would one a week be good?

OK, I have the list up.

Here's the deal-- When it's your turn, I'll PM you and you to PM me with
1. a summary of your blog's purpose
2. where your blog is (in your profile or your signature. Please keep in mind that if there's any sort of ad in it at all, it can't be linked in the threads)
3. 5 or so specific questions/calls for feedback that you have

If you have more than one blog, I'm going to ask that you stick with one at a time and then go to the end of the queue.

Okie dokie? Let's get started!

Um, I just wanted to point out that maybe we could do 3 blogs a week?.. Otherwise it will take us months to get through all the blogs... I'm sure we can handle visiting and commenting on 3 blogs a week?

What does everyone think? :
If it's too much, feel free to throw tomatoes and to let me know that I'm crazy.:
