Ok so it's a little keepsake book that I self-published with my heritage makers business, a little short story and some poems but it's so exciting to see my work in a book!!!

I love it!

Thank you! I'm very happy...it's like a little gift to myself for working so hard at my writing lately and I'm mailing 4 off to people tomorrow and some others I'm delivering next week. All family and friends!

I forgot to tell my husband I wrote it..he was so surprised when he saw it today...lol...he's a truck driver and I talk about stuff I'm doing all the time, the blog and the novel and the other two books and the two kids books and he didn't realise this one was done! lol.

He's already telling everybody his wife published a book..lol

I do think that if worst comes to worse, I will at least publish myself.

I actually think self-publishing is the way to go...it gives you total control without relying on the opinions of strangers.

I don't think it's worse at all, I think it's best. And I've recently been reading some wonderful self-published works and cannot believe the quality of it. Most of it from writers who have decided against the commercial route.

I guess it's kind of like artists who don't like to sign to a label but do their own independant recordings. I find some great music on Indie labels.

I did research both to some degree.

My biggest concern with self publishing is I wouldn't trust myself enough to edit for silly mistakes and repeats, etc. I really feel like I would need someone to go over my writing, you know?

On another hand, I have a different concern with publishing with an editor and an agent; they do say that editors and even agents ask for extensive edits of your original work. I do want to at least try it though, I guess I lack confidence in my own work, and need someone who is "in the business" to tell me it's good compared to others.

Oh, and I almost forgot about marketing. I can't imagine doing that part on my own, you know?
Do you plan to market it to stores by the way? If you do, what is your plan?

And on the side note... I can't wait to read your book, remember me when you order more!

New endeavor coming soon...

a lot of self-publishers offer editing services for an extra fee.

I would market myself yes. I don't have a plan in place, just a vague idea but I do have some marketing experience that would come in handy.

either way you have to do some marketing..you're either marketing to the agents or you're marketing to the public, I figure just go straight to the public

Which company did you go with, and did you weed out this or that self publishing company for some reason? I'm curious how you narrowed down your decision.

New endeavor coming soon...
