Just stopping by with a slightly amusing vent. My dss comes here regularly and contributes to our ever expansive laundry pile. We kept ending up with a huge pile of unmatchable white socks and I just couldn't figure it out...I'm used to a stray here or there, but apparently my dryer was devouring his socks.

Until I realized that he comes here in unmatched socks. And goes home in matched socks. And that leaves me with an unmanageable pile of singles. I just folded a load of clothes and ended up with four mateless socks. I think I'll sack 'em up and send them back with him.

Yup, we have this too! SS is here 50% and his mom never sorts socks; she just puts them all in a drawer, and he doesn't care if they match so he just wears the first two that he comes up with. Took me forever to figure out why I had sooo many stray socks for him!

We had the same issues. Actually, we still have the sock issue, but the other clothing issues have become better. When dss was younger, he would come in clothes that were way too small or too large. Then, she wouldn't be able to find any of the clothing we sent him in that FIT. His other siblings must have worn them to one of their father's homes. (His other family has 5 kids, 2 older and 2 younger.) One time, he came in GIRLS underwear. Another time, his pants were so large that he had to hold them up all day. One winter day, he wasn't wearing any socks. Boy, looking back, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that as much. He has always had the responsibility of dressing himself at his moms, but now he's old enough to know what to wear without assistance!

I knew we couldn't be the only ones. When dh first told me early on that it was in their divorce agreement that dss was to be sent back to his mother's house in the clothes he came in, I though, "oh, come on! that's ridiculous!" but it's actually turned out to our advantage.

I can only imagine what our clothing collection would look like if we didn't maintain our own "closet" for him here.

I spend way too much time and money to make sure my children look good. (I do a lot of resale/thrift store shopping for them) Clean, mended, nothing torn, worn out looking, outfits, some things even ironed. They come back from their fathers with out socks, stained, OLD, torn, boy clothes on my girl, girl shirts on my boy, without their winter coat, with out shoes. The list goes on.

Finally we set the rule, he must bring them back in the clothes they went with, or FEDEX their clothes back the next day. They do not take their winter coats, sweatshirts, as they NEVER come back. We live in an area that is colder in the winter and hoter in the summer than he is.

We recently had a pick up where we were on our boat, so the kids were in suits and sandles. Drop off was also out on our boat.... you would think this man would have the brains to bring them back in their swimsuits. NOPE. : Thank goodness I thought ahead and brought their extra suits.

This is great! I am new here and just am so sorry that I didn't join sooner! OH HOW I CAN RELATE!!! My twin boys always came home from their dads looking like little orphan children. It drove me crazy... I finally just started sending them to him in the clothes he sent them home in the weekend before. Even the boys' daycare teachers laugh about it... they know when the boys are going to their dads just by the crazy looking clothes I change them into when I pick them up the afternoons of their visitation. I am so glad I am not alone!

I have a different sock problem. .. I keep ending up with dh's exwife's socks on my feet!!

Ok, dss has sock issues too. At his mom's house he sometimes wears her socks home. When we do laundry dh sees women's socks, so puts them in my drawer, and when grab socks in a hurry. . . I end up in my husband's ex wife's socks! I wonder if she wears mine?
