Has anyone seen the movie Juno yet? I haven't, but from the reviews it sounds like a positive portrayal of a blended family. At least, if you don't mind the whole teenage pregnancy part..

No spoilers, please, but I'm curious what people think of how the family is portrayed, although I get the impression from the ads that they took a little shortcut and wrote the mother out of the picture.

I had no idea it involved blended family!
From the previews it seems like a very genuine and sweet, and honest movie.
We are planning to see it this weekend with DSD

New endeavor coming soon...
Raising Alice in Wonderland (DSD, 17), and in love with a Superman

From what I read, it's a teen who gets pregnant and is supported by her family, which for her is her dad and stepmom. Like I said, I haven't seen it yet. Let us know what you think!

Loved it!!!!

There's a step-mom, but bio-mom not in picture (not a spoiler). It shows a good relationship of sm and dsd. It's a great movie. I will definitely see it again.

I want to see this too. DH and I are going out for dinner and a movie tonight and are trying to decide between Juno and National Treasure II.

Pick Juno! An MDC mama did the music for the soundtrack - Kimya Dawson.

I tried to have a thread on here once about "positive portrayals of blended families" and I think all we could come up with where Reba and Jojo's Circus!

Saw it, loved it...although I didn't think I would like it at all during the first ten minutes of the movie....Juno's "slang talk" or whatever you want to call it seemed to be a bit over the top at first, but it seemed to tone down almost immediately.

It was a pretty positive portrayal of a blended family. There were parts where the stepmom was very much "mama lion" and it was nice. There were also parts that mentioned things she had to give up in order to be a part of Juno's family...which I thought was accurate and realistic. It wasn't all hearts and love, it seemed to be an honest depiction of a step family dynamic.

Juno sounds good, and I liked the previews...and I saw National Treasure II w/dh over the weekend, and, though it was pretty good? It wasn't GREAT. I'd go see Juno! In fact...we might go see it Saturday!

Mama to two awesome kids. Wife to a wonderful, attached, loving husband. I love my job-- I'm a Midwife, Doula and Childbirth Educator, Classes forming now!

Just got back, and we all (DSD, DP and I) thought it was lovely. Sparked a short, but great discussion on the way back, about the fact that we will always being there for DSD, and will support her no matter what. She let us know that she realizes that she can count on us, as well as she understands that it doesn't happen in many families. DP and I feel loved, and appreciated.

New endeavor coming soon...

I really enjoyed it. The slang in the movie was not bothersome to me. It actually made the movie for me. Serious topic but funny, witty and lighthearted.

Honestly, I think it's in my top favorite movies now.

I really want to see it. The writer is from MN, and I've always enjoyed her pieces in our free paper.

Funny to see this thread here...I just herd about the movie from some folks yesterday. Although they didn't say much about it. Sounds good, guess I'll have to watch it when it comes out in one of the local, cheap theatres.
