I found a name that I'm gonna use for this dc if it's a girl. I haven't told anyone yet and they still think I'm choosing between 2 other names. I don't plan on telling anyone in my family unless the baby IS a girl, after I give birth. I'm doing this mainly because most of them either won't like it OR think it's weird so to avoid any negative responses, I'm just not gonna say anything. BUT ITS SO HARD! I HAVE to tell someone, anyone! (Besides DH, who obviously knows) Ok, so the name is Lilikoi. (pr. lila-koy..just how it looks) It's a tropical passion fruit/flower that has many healing properties and has been said to have the "passion of Jesus Christ" in it because of what it looks like. I just think it's beautiful and am in love w/ it. I'm using Rose for a mn to honor Dh's mom. So her name will be Lilikoi Rose. Not that I'm really looking for opinions or anything but I am kinda curious as to what others think of the name. So, whatcha think?

Anyways, that's the final name and I love it!! I'll probably end up having a boy just because of all the fuss it took to find a girl name that I absolutely love.

Here's a design of a Lilikoi:

And a pic of the actual flower:

OOh, I really think that it's beautiful! What a unique and gorgeous name - I hope your dc IS a girl just so she can be graced with that fabulous name!

Excellent choice, and with a classic MN like Rose, no one should even hassle you about it's uncommon-ness. Yay!

That is really pretty. Will you encourage people to always say Lilikoi or would you be OK with the inevitible (I think) shortening to Lily?

me too! nah...I will be grateful with whatever I have but I would LOVE to use this name!

Ecoteat - I think shortening it to Lili (Lily) would be fine. As long as she doesn't get called Lili ALL the time, kwim?

And thanks for the positive feedback mamas! It does make me feel good to hear.

I think it's a neat non-common name, and it's nice that you can go by Lily too.

i LOVE the name!

when i was pregnant with DD i came up with a "flower" name too that i loved, and i wanted to use it but i made a mistake of telling it to people and got crappy feedback and they turned me off of the name...
i think about it sometimes and wonder if i shouldnt have told...

Happy mama to my four girls S 8.15.02 , L 04.25.06 (gone at 36 weeks ) and L 3.10.07.And another rainbow! Baby C has arrived 10.26.10!

I think it's beautiful! I actually plant that vine yearly, we call it a "passion vine"...didn't know it's real name. The blue/lavender combos contained in it are lovely!

What a beautiful name! The flower itself looks like Maypops to me (Passiflora incarnata) but Lilikoi sounds much better.

One of my favorite flowers! They call them maypops and passion flowers here in TN.
I love the name-it is beautiful.
