I've been reading on this site for a few months now. I've heard women complain about things that I (surprisingly) didn't have. I thought I was experiencing all the bad parts of pregnancy and none of the really good ones. However, I'm starting to realize that the pains and aches are nothing compared to what I have no now.

Leg Cramps: I have never experienced pain like I have the last few nights with these leg cramps. I can hardly walk because my legs are so sore from the cramp.

Painful Movements: Up until now I've enjoyed feeling my son roll around. It wasn't painful... maybe just a little uncomfortable... NOT NOW! He hurts me so bad!! He kicks and he jumps... Don't get me wrong, I would rather him move all the time than never move at all... but he stays on my left side and kicks me just really on that side and then likes to take his little feet and shove them under my ribs.... and when you think that it can't get any worse, he starts kicking my ribs.... ugh...

Heartburn/Indigestion: Need I say more? For those of you who have it, God Bless You! I feel your pain. Me and Tums have become best friends.... Whoever made them is my hero!

Feet & Hand Swelling: I don’t know about the rest of you but it's hot here in Georgia and my feet and hands are feeling it... They burn when they swell... I had no idea!!

Tiredness: I don’t sleep. Between the leg cramps, heartburn & indigestion, painful kicks and rolls, and potty runs I don’t get much rest. Of course I become ill as a hornet….

Which brings me to my last one...

Opinionated People: I understand that all people have an opinion. I respect that.
However, please don’t tell me how to
A. Birth this child.
B. Raise this child.
C. Meds to take while I'm having him.
D. Meds to take AFTER I have him.
E. That I'm NOT going to want to go back to work after I have him.
F. That my fears are stupid.
G. That I'm gaining weight in my face.
H. That I'm gaining weight quickly.
I. That this baby is going to be a BIG baby. (I have enough fears without everyone telling me it's gonna be hard to have such a big baby!)
J. That I'll go 2 weeks over my due date.

Those are just a few.... My motto... If you think maybe it will upset me, it probably will... so please please please just don’t say it..

Okay I'm done venting... thanks for listening...

No problem vent away. The last part of your post had me LOL
Can I add to the Opinionated People-

wow- you're getting big, are you sure there is only one baby in there?
let me touch your belly even though I barely know you
I didn't gain any weight when I was expecting
I wasnt sick once or had any aliment any human ever had while pregnt
tell me all the horrors about the birth
tell me all the horrors about breastfeeding
is he/she sleeping thru the night? Wow mine slept thru the night by night 2
how many naps? You can tell them you child is taking 50 naps a day and sleeping thru the night and thats not enough accd to this person
-how much does he/she weigh? Wow thats not enough
what size clothes is he in? Thats way too small, he is very tiny or very large or whatever
Ready to have the next one yet?

I won't even post the issues NICU parents have to deal with. A few of us mamas came up with a list of them the other day. But yes I feel your pain
and know what your vent posted is very normal for this stage of pregncy.
Only a few more weeks, hang in there- its worth it!

Just a tip, the leg cramps can be relieved by upping your calcium and potassium intake. I just take a calcium citrate/magnesium blend along with a couple OTC potassium pills before bed and it seems to control the cramps but if I miss it boy do I know it!

Seriously?

Another tip on the leg cramps...
You probably already know this, but when I was pregnant with my first the leg cramps were a nightmare. I would wake up screaming like I was being murdered. Well, by the end of the pregnancy I had completely re-trained my body to flex my foot instead of pointing it every time I stretched or felt one coming on. Since I was able to totally re-train myself like that, the problems have been very minimal this time. I'm getting the start of the cramps but since my body knows exactly what to do, it's much much better.

ladybugamber...

All of your issues are SO on point and true for me as well...I couldn't help but laugh at your post, even though it's not really that funny...especially those last items...man, isn't that the truth...

I'm having the leg cramps from hell, too...fun times!

Hang in there!

I can so sympathize! I'm still getting slack about how I've chosen to birth/raise my first child and she's turing 4 in two weeks! Now I get to hear it all over again with this baby. My favorite is "better not do another home birth, you got so LUCKY last time!" Lucky as in we didn't die? Lucky as in I birthed a 9 pound 4 ounce baby in 3 hours of labor? What does lucky mean? Are we all given a certain amount of luck and I used all mine up with my first homebirth?!!

And I am sooo tired of people commenting on how HUGE I am. And my husband telling people (and me) how huge I am. I seriously cannot walk down the hall at church without at least 3 people either commenting on my vastness, or asking when I'm due and then giving me that shocked expression when I tell them June. One person thought I was due in a week or two! And the real crazy thing about it? I've thus far gained LESS THAN HALF of what I gained with dd!

I so know where you are coming from. I'm getting all sort of medical advice from every idiot out there. I just tell them that my doctors are very happy with my progression and actually think I am doing amazingly well and I am following their advice. Some people don't care...like the woman who insisted I should be home in bed because her sister had triplets (15 years ago) at 22 weeks and they were under 2 pounds and spent so much time in the NICU. (ummm...thanks) After she left dh asked if he should have told her we were 32 weeks and about 4 pounds each and the docs said no need for bedrest.

I hear that.

I'm not carrying very big and I'm rather hefty to begin with. A couple weeks ago, my co-workers and I were cowering in the coat room, waiting out a tornado. My pregnancy came up and one of the new guys was like "oh, I didn't know". I gave him this smirk and said "so, you just thought I was really fat?"

Ok, so it was kinda mean...

But everyone knows not to touch me and I don't give people an opportunity to "slip up". If anyone 'cept my doctor or family asks how its going, I complain about having to pee, I moan that he'll never stop kicking and that's it.

The few times people have tried to scare me with stories, I counter with "well, that's not likely to happen b/c of my health/family history/etc." I just happen to know enough about physiology and medicine (pharmo and herbal) to either convince them or confuse them...

I think my confident attitude helps; no one gets the impression that I need/want advice. (I've been told I can be pretty intimidating, though I say its that I'm just an emotionally distant person.)

Leg cramps here too. Last night was bad!! I try to take a cal/mag supplement before bed, but didn't last night. I do think it helps. Also, do some calf stretching excercises seems to help too. Man those things are painful!

Leg cramps haven't hit me too bad yet, but I had them my last pregnancy. I used them for labor practice (you know, breathing and relaxing through them)... it helped me feel better to at least be getting some use out of that horrible pain.

Oh I hear ya on the heartburn (it is SOOOOO bad lately, I feel like I'm going to have a hole burned through my throat!!) and on the "you're so big" stuff - this past Saturday I was in a long line at the toy store with all the other slackers who waited until the day before Easter to buy candy for Easter baskets & presents for their kids and this woman behind me asks when I'm due. I don't mind making conversation so I told her, June. And then she says, with a really kind of nasty face, "JUNE??? Are you SURE? Looks more like a few days from now!!" I was shocked because honestly, I thought I looked cute in what I was wearing and actually though it made me look smaller than I usually look! So then she went on to ask if "you're sure there's only one in there?" I am usually much more thick-skinned but that day I was hungry and stressed and tired and I almost cried!! I mumbled something about well, it's my 3rd baby in 4 years....I told DH she was kind of a heavy middle-aged woman and he said, "Why did you feel you had to explain yourself to her? Instead you should have asked her how many SHE was carrying in there!" Wish I'd thought of that!!

Oh about the leg cramps - I had them with my 1st and found eating a banana every day helped, someone told me it would - must be the potassium I guess?

on the heartburn issue - I've had great success with papaya enzymes. You can get them at natural foods stores, and for me, they work wonders. Just thought I'd pass it along.
