I saw the head doctor today at our family practice because our resident (Dr. Jill) called out sick. He's the one who will be overseeing things at the hospital for us since we're doing a waterbirth and he's had the most experience with them.
I surprised the doctor and myself with a NEGATIVE test result for GBS. W00t! Since I was positive with dd, I was really expecting it to be the same this time around, but I guess the probiotics and yogurt really did the trick. He mentioned that being 6 months off in season might be helping, too, since last time I took the test in the dog days of late summer, and all that moist heat can really boost bacterial growth in your, ahem, nether regions.
So we're on for waiving the hospital policy of an "in case" heplock, and he's agreed to an early discharge assuming we're both doing fine after birth. I was looking for 6-8 hours, he said he's agreed to anywhere from 2 hrs. post-birth on in the past. Wow!
And if we do go for an early discharge, since we live so close to one of their offices, he's going to see if the resident we've been seeing can just swing by our house for a checkup instead of us trekking out to the office with baby and toddler in tow.
. . .
I think I'm in love. *lol*
