At 2:45 I was standing in my mom's living room and POP, my water broke, first one big gush, leaking when i am laying down and just a little comes out when I am standing.Oh boy, the contraction are very mild, only 7 minutes apart. My MW said to call when they are 3 minutes apart. We sent my dad and DH to see XMEN and we are walking( me, mom and my sisters). Please send quick, wonderful birthing vibes,
Kaitlin

Wow! Sending you tons of happy, gentle birthing vibes!!!

That's how my first labor started, too. It was exciting after all those times I wondered how I would know when labor was starting. No questioning that one.

My doctor told me if my water breaks to go straight to the ER. He said I could get an infection if I didn't.

Good Luck though!!

Best Wishes!!

HOW AWESOME!
Best of luck! Happy, gentle birthing!
I've been so scared my water would break again like that (like last time) because I went straight into HARD labor when it did... I didn't know it could pop and contrax could be gentle! You've just given me some much needed hope and comfort!

I didn't know infection was a concern until it had been broken for at least 24-hours?

I can't imagine why your doctor would tell you that - makes no sense at all.

Good luck with the birth, littlemama!

Good luck!

your risks of infection are slightly higher after 24 hours, but if you keep anyone and anything out of your vagina, you'll decrease those risks a lot. There is very little to worry about just go on birthin that baby!

When my water broke, I didn't start contractions until 10 hours later, and they were so mild that I didn't even realize they were contractions! It felt more like a tingling going across my belly - not even painful.

And as for infection... I agree with the PPs not to worry about it as long as you're keeping everyone and everything out of your vagina.

Ack, please read up on that. No reason to run to the er, not unless you want a whole bunch of interventions.

Good luck mama!

So exciting....feel like we're getting ready for our baby boom!

As said by so many others....infection simply because your water broke? PLEASE! Sounds like a real NCB-friendly doc to me! LOL

Good luck and please post again when you can!

Good luck mama!! Hoping for a fast and easy labor for you!! And don't worry about infection - any doctor who says you have to go right in is being ridiculous! You have plenty of time, the most they'll probably do is keep an eye on your temp just to make sure. Keep us posted when you can!!!

Actually your water can break and you can have no contractions at all - that's what happened with my first! : I was 2 days late and my water broke in a huge gush, but I never had one natural contraction. My doc let me wait about 10 hours before starting Pitocin - ugh - that started the usual train of interventions, unfortunately. My mw said if it happened again she'd let me go much longer than that before inducing as long as there were no signs of infection.....FWIW....

I have to respectfully disagree with your doctor. My OB told me that he's had women who's water broke way past the "24 hour" mark (even 3 days with small leaks) and not have infections and had women get an infection within a few hours of their waters breaking. The hospitals like birthing within 24 hours because its a nice easy control. The sooner you walk into a hospital after your waters break the quicker you are on "their" time schedule. Risk of infection increases with each time someone does a "check" which hospital staff love to do. Avoid those as much as possible and you'll keep your risk of infection down.

Good luck and sending smooth fast labor vibes your way.
