We are in the humid gulf coast and we get at least 60 inches of rain a year. Right now there is no covered access for the dogs outside. Our dogs are house dogs anyway but if the weather is nice and we sometimes like to leave them outside when we are gone. But down here in the summer especially heavy rain can show up at any time, and they have no way to get out of it so 90% of the time they are left in the house. Leaving the back door open is not an option because I do not want them tracking a bunch of water in my house when it pours ( we get those summer monsoon rains in the afternoons)
So DH wants to build them some shelter, probably a combo raised doghouse/covered porch. But I'm not sure how big it should be.
