We just got a new black lab puppy who we named Chip.  He is 8 weeks old.  We have had him for one week.  He is an awesome little man, very sweet and very smart.  I have a 5 day work trip that I could not postpone/cancel and will be leaving him and our other dog Betsy, with my parents for the five days.  They know my parents and are very comfortable with them.  I am trying to make sure that I don't forget to explain anything to them or forget to leave something important.  Right now I have the following things:

-a schedule of when the dogs eat and get taken out to potty, also left the words we are using to help him learn to go outside (go potty and hurry up)

-pre-made meals in baggies for each dog labeled with date to be given and time of day (the pup eats multiple times a day)

- a bag of toys that he and Betsy can play with

- contact info for our vet (we are good friends so I can always text them from my cell to let them know my parents are coming in)

-dog poop bags

Do you guys have any other suggestions/ideas?  I want to make sure these 5 days go a smoothly as possible, especially with the puppy.

Depending on how much common sense your parents have and if they're pet people or not, you may have to remind them to give the dogs fresh water at every meal. I always include that instruction for pet sitters just in case. Also not to give table food (or at least, which foods can hurt dogs since not everyone knows about onions, grapes, etc.)

Don't forget to pack leashes, favorite toys, and dog beds/towels.

I would also let them know their sleep routine (do they sleep in the same room as you? In crates?) Whatever is the normal routine, they should stay close to that if they can. But since you've only had Chip a week, he probably hasn't settled into much of a routine yet.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If they like your parents then everything will be fine.
