We adopted two cats to live in our barn.  One has warmed up to us very quickly and seems very happy.  The other is always hiding when I am out there.  Strangely, she was the friendlier cat of the two at the shelter.  How long should I give her before I decide that we are not a good fit?

It looks like your post might have been missed so I'm bumping it up for attention. :bump: Anyone have experience to share? OP, how are things going now?

How long have you had them?  Do you know if she was an outdoor cat in her "previous" life?

Since you adopted her and took responsibility for her, you should keep her until she gets old and passes away. Being timid wouldn't be a very good reason for her to be abandoned again and she will probably get even more timid, which means no one will adopt her and she will be put down. If you made the effort to adopt her then I really feel like her warming up to you shouldn't be a condition for your love.

How long have you had them? Cats are stubborn creatures, we've had them take months to warm up. Patience and bribery are your friends smile.gif
