We were mowing our lawn this afternoon and had our boxer out with us, as he loves playing in the yard while we're working. After we mowed, we were adjusting the sprinkler and he was running through it and rolling around on the ground. We came inside and showered and noticed he now has welts appearing all over. It looks like cystic acne and we're noticing more and more. He probably has about 15 or 20.

What could this be and what can we do about it? He's not in pain and is acting perfectly normal. We're guessing maybe chigger bites? We've never had this happen before, so we're stumped. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you put down fertilizers or anything lately? Could your dog be allergic to the grass? Maybe it is the pollen? My sister's dachshund gets little pimple type bumps on her when she is having an allergic reaction.

I would try some Benadryl.

Thanks so much for the suggestion of Benadryl!

We had to go out and buy it, but it worked like a charm. In half an hour, his welts were gone. Yippee!
