I have a soon to be 3 yr old boy who name is brendan. We adopted 2 kitties in April they like to hang out in the window -sometimes I like to keep them in the room for a few moments so they can get a break from mr rowdy want to pounce on them and pull their fur. I don't keep them in the 2nd room all the time proably maybe as long as possibly 30 minutes or possibly longer but never 24 hrs a day .

Well, I already got a 'talking too from Janet my upstair neighbor I told her before they like the window and sometimes they are in that room with the door shut for a hr but never 24 hrs or for the full day or for the full nite.

Then tonight she came knocking on my door saying she saw the kitty in the window and I go they like to be in the window she goes I saw the door shut and I know you been keeping the kitties trapped in that room 24 hrs period without any fresh air - then shimmer walks out - she goes I have reported you to the landlady and if I see the kitties in the window again I'm going to call animal control.

I had adopted these two kitties from a rescue and I love to them pieces. My son loves them to pieces also, The foster mom who is allowed to see the kitties says this is the best home for them.

The foster mom who we had adopted the kitties from through help for homeless pets even lets them run around when she takes care of them when we are on trips which I'm so grateful that I don't have to take them to the boarding area during trips which would keep them trapped in kennels.

Our kitties can get quite overwhelmend by brendan that they actually hide in the cupboards m desk has a back of the shelf missing in there and they will hide in there but can still get out.

These two kitties had a very hard life and finally have found a home but now some peeping busybody neighbor is trying to destroy our happiness and the kitties happiness?

ok...honestly. is there something in your rental agreement that says you can't keep them in one room? If the cats are healthy, and keeping them in that room isn't violating your rental agreement, no one is going to care.

As for proving you don't keep them in there, if their food/water/litter are not all kept in that same room, it's pretty obvious they aren't either. Cat's are capable of asking out. If they were locked in there against their will, there would be lots of scratch marks on the inside of the door and possibly on the window from them asking and trying to dig their way out. The lady has control issues, but no actual control over you.

I say tell her where she can put her opinions if she feels she has to share them with you again. Actually, what I've done when some idiot threatened me like that (it was a DCFS threat actually) is call their bluff. Give her the contact info to report you and the info she'll need to do so. Tell her to either call or not, but if she comes around threatening you again you'll file harassment charges.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I'm sure if anyone comes to check them out they'll see what a great mama you are to them and nothing bad will come of it. This made me miss my kitty. Good luck!

how do i file harassment charges ? I wrote a note on the window closed the door saying "peeping tom's - no kitties in this room -feel free to look - the door is shut.

Sometimes when I go in that room a kitty gets forgotten in there because they snuck in there to hide under the bed & sometimes I don't realize that until I hear meow meow.

I go lecturing the silly kitty saying -you know you don't need to be in the room where's there's no litter box.

Ms Shimmer decided to trick me again tonight I looked all over for her and it turned out she was in the bookcase. I'm like shimmer with you sneakily hiding in there & I can't find you. Your gonna make me get into big trouble by doing that .

HUH?

I'm not getting this one. Why would your neighbor even care? Sounds like she's a little : . OK, if kitties have access to fresh clean water, food, and a litter pan why does it matter if they are in one room? After all, there are only two of them, and since they're neutered (I'm assuming) it's not like they need a lot of territory.

It sounds like you're just doing the responsible thing and keeping them away from your toddler.

The woman is just flat out messed up.

Why is this lady looking in your windows in the first place?? I would seriously tell her to mind her own business. I have 3 cats and at points during the day they all get locked in other rooms for periods of time, accidentally or otherwise. When they want out they meow. And good for you to give your kitties a break from your toddler.

Dude, she's a whackjob. You're not going to reason with her. If she calls animal control, they'll either laugh at her, or come talk to you and see your happy, healthy pets.

Actaully young kitties often benifit from being locked in one room with their litter box to help them learn were to go potty. I have locked mine up over and over again for long periods of time for retraining. She was only allowed out to be petted and socialize a bit but then right back in the room.

I wouldnt worry a bit about her calling on you for that. Just explain what is going on if anyone shows up and tell them that she is a bit : and they will more than likely be just fine with it.

Does your apartment not have standard vents and such for ac and heat?

I think the neighbor needs to quit looking in your windows unless she wants to be charged with being a Peeping Tom.

Giving the kitties a place to safely retreat to when they wish to get away from a child is a good thing.

"What will you do once you know?"

I would call the police and ask to press charges against her for being a peeping tom. Just say that her constant staring in your windows is creepy and your child is scared of her.
