I was told by a friend recently to put garlic on my dogs food because the scent will come out in her skin and fleas hate the smell of garlic. Is this true? If so, what kind of garlic do I put in her food? How much? How often? -She weighs 6-7 lbs.

Dont do it. The garlic remedy is rarely useful, IMO (though Im sure some swear by it) and keep in mind that garlic IS a toxin and could potentially be harmful to your little dog.

Stick with your Advantage/Frontline. It works.

I just looked it up online, lots of sites say it can cause anaemia in dogs, but lots of sites say its totally safe. So I might risk it and see how she does. It says 1 teaspoon a day for small dogs in her food DAILY, so I'll make it half a teaspoon since shes only about 7 lbs and just incase it makes her sick.

Also what about Brewers Yeast? I found online you can add that to dogs food too, and the smell will come out in the dogs skin again repelling fleas.

Just be careful with the garlic.

Honestly Id not bother with either garlic or brewers yeast as far as a flea preventative. Youll both be much happier using a good topical preventative.
