Here's a suggestion--I do dog and rabbit rescue--so this is just a suggestion--it may not work out for you....BUT...could you call the local dobie rescue group in that area and see if there is anyone traveling towards your area that you could meet half way? You'd be surprised how sometimes these things work out when it comes to the benefit of the dog. Based on her age, I'd make the drive long before I would consider flying her out anywhere.
I would do it (make a long long road trip), have done it, and will do it again someday--should I find a dog, cat or rabbit that needed me/us. I've driven halfway across the country for our breed rescue.
