Yeah I was shocked to. The boys I babysit for 3 year old twins and it is always one drama after another. Their mom is borderline abusive and I guess her family just has issues. Today the boys announced to me that if they pee their pants their peepee will fall off. So I asked who told them that and they said their grandma and grandpa.

And yes I explained to them and my own PT son that penis' to not fall off when you pee your pants. And that the only thing that happens when you pee in your pants is that you have wet pants and they need to be changed.

Why in the world would you tell a child that?

How awful! That reminds me of telling people they will go blind if they masturbate.

I feel so sorry for these boys. I'm so glad that you aleviated that fear for them.

This makes me cry. I'm glad you explained otherwise to them. People can be so cruel to children wetting themselves. I could rant about this all day.

Well, I laughed when I read your title.

Then I read the story.

I'm glad you set them straight.

Thats so sad! Im glad you explained it wouldn't. Why would someone tell a baby that? (yes, I still consider 3 year olds very much babies in many ways).

Wow. How thoughtful of them to instill terror in three year olds.

IMO, it's a heck of a lot easier to change a pair of pee pants ( it literally takes 30 seconds ) than it would be to convince a toddler that his 'pee pee' will fall off, and subsequently deal with the one thousand worried questions, the nightmares, and the behavior issues that are bound to follow.....

I'm glad you clarified things in such simple terms for the little guys : )

A couple things I'm curious about though....

What happens if Grandpa eventually becomes incontinant? Will he be at risk of losing his 'pee pee' as well ??

And what on earth do you think they would tell their little grand DAUGHTERS??

Ok, technically, if a boy is in Antartica and he pees in his pants then his penis juuuuuust might fall off.
Sorry, I'm just trying to be lighthearted.

Not something I would tell my son, but other people have differnent views of parenting....

Plus it doesn't even make sense, I mean babies? Diapers? *sigh* I would guess that the statement grandma and grandpa made wasn't after a lot of thought about the matter.
